Best damn thing to ever emerge from the X-Men franchise. Discuss.

Okay so maybe some of the episodes from the older animated series were just as good (not to mention in possession of a much better and more prominent Gambit), and the new Legends games are great too, and the movies have their good parts, and and...

...so yeah, there are many great things affiliated with our favorite mutant epic, but Evolution RULES. I love how they take such liberties with various characters, hell, even making me obsess over Avalanche of all people. AVALANCHE!!! He sucks so much in the comics. And yet they remain somewhat true to the source material.

Bottomline, I am currently taken over by the series and I want to discuss it.

Come on!

Teenage Nightcrawler > all

this series is alright, but the original was better i think. The first one was alot more vicious. This one is like an animated teenage drama series don't get me wrong it has it high points. Wolverine having a daughter (clone) and all. That was an interesting addition. Its' good series but i like the first one better.

Yep, I agree with dragonrage. This series is pretty damned good but the original animated series > * for many, many reasons.

Yeah well the original was more true to the source material and more serious in general, true, but nontheless, I love how just plain different Evo is. As you say it's like a teenage drama sort of. I don't even like teenage drama normally, but it's a cool take on the whole thing.

AND NIGHTCRAWLER IS AWESOME <3

I liked the greater focus Rogue got in this series (She was always my favorite, tied with Gambit) and one of the other highpoints was not minimizing Cyclops' eye beams into a weak looking red line like the original series. They gave it the power it had in parts of the comic book and rightly deserves. The original series (as much as I love it) wasted way too much time on Jubilee, the most useless character ever.

Also, in the later parts of the Evo series: [They had Scarlet Witch! She never gets any screentime (or a great deal of time on paper either) and they showed how powerful her powers can really be, unlike that travesty of an Iron Man cartoon series where she did basically nothing the entire time.]

I really liked what this series was able to do given the liberties they were allowed to make. And in the second and third seasons, they addressed the main point of the X-men universe. That despite all the prejudice they faced when they were revealed as mutants, even though they didn't have to and aren't obligated to do so, they still remain heroes. Keeping that message strong is how they were able to take all the liberties they wanted without betraying the image of the X-men.

I remember one cool episode, when Scott and his brother get their powers increased by Magneto and their hair turns white. Scott and his brother was kick ass.

^^ I think that was when they were on the moon (no, literally). Evolution was good for a while. But its not a show you'd be obsessed with watching again after a while. The original was better, it had more story to it, the yellow wolverine, was more mature, and didnt seem like it was made only to fit the ages of 13 and under. Evolution was good, but was kinda, immature. They were all teenagers and went to school, which I find funny. They probably purposly did that to attract younger ages, which kinda annoys me a little. But overall it was a good show, especially the last few episodes.

It was a good series, but not as good as the previous X-Men series. But I really loved the last season of Evolution since you saw more action. Now, if you ask me my favorite episode, it will be with Gambit and Rogue going to Lousiana (sp?). Also, Spyke was really cool when he went to live with the Murlocs.

The series was good, I'll admit like all of you said the original was better, and Apocalypse was slightly less annoying then the original one was.

but it has it's own league that it was good in, like this stuff:

http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/7514/evolutiondance022qe.gif Why did they even put that in there?

And possilby the only reason why I watched the show:

And just b/c, since JLU was a better show then this was:

I recently downloaded all of it after watching X3. I must say that ending was pretty good, showing parts of phoenix and how others join the xmen. First thing I saw after at the end team (the future xmen) was "Damn...kitty looks like a fucking slut"

Spyke was so damn cool until he turned all emogay and went to live underground, but shooting flamed spikes was cool. I loved the wolverine aspect with him and his different projects, weapon X.

And the brotherhood was a good bonus in my opinion, quiksilver and wanda were just additions to the greatness.

Subpar. Everything works fine, but I've seen the occasional slowdown and with 60 megs/episode the general quality isn't really outstanding. But nontheless, watchable, and DVD rips are out for seasons 1-3 too. (downloading them right now).

Cauldron prt. 4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTclCfYJ21Y')

Thats weird because "the Cauldron" was a two part episode.

Probably called part 4 since Youtube has to split the episodes up in lesser segments..

then again, then it should be part 3...

bah

Edit: Okay, one seriously bad thing about the show - THE INSERT SONGS.

I just wanted to die when I saw the Bayville Sirens song. That was so hideous, I wondered for a moment why I downloaded the series when I saw that. And that whole episode in general. "girl power, blah blah, we are the inferior sex, blah blah, worthless song and let's shake our asses like whores because that will surely give us respect blah blah". IDIOCY. I hope there will be no more songs.

Oh, what's this I'm hearing about Toad rapping?

*Sigh*

Anyway, the DVD rips are sweet and so is the series although Jean is seriously starting to irritate me (along with the songs of course).

Jean does suck pretty bad in all the episodes I saw of evo, maybe in the third season she gets better.

The TOAD song apparently wasn't him rapping but instead it played in the background during the season 3 episode where he saves Scarlet Witch from Magneto.

(great episode by the way)

Well I only have 12 episodes left now, have to say it's too bad the series ended so soon...

Guess it's time for me to rewatch TAS after this :D

I love the older X-Men animated series. They did such an awesome job puttung all the story lines together to make that series.

I missed most of evolution, but I wasn't too impressed with what I saw. The brotherhood looked like a bunch of idiots in every episode. That girl power episode was god-awful. I did like that they included the character Kitty though; she's the one thing that the older animated series was missing.

Terra, was that the one where Kurt goes to meet Amanda's family and they find out he's a mutant, then Toad breaks in and steals his image inducer?

I have about 50 episodes of this series and I didnt like it at all. I find it too childish and the art is just so poor... It reminds me that of starwars clone wars. Good idea but bad plots and ugly drawings.

It has some funny parts but not very often. Old x-men series was better imo, anyone knows if its available for download?

Edort is on crack. There is nothing wrong with the animation and drawings here, especially not in the DVD rips. It looks fresh. And yeah, some things are "childish", but name one cartoon which is clearly devoid of "childish" elements? I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the darker aspects of Evolution in the last 2 seasons.

Man, I love this series so much, and in only 3 episodes it will be over. DAMNIT! So much potential.. I wish they bring it back some day :(

Oh by the way guys, can you recommend a cartoon which I'd probably like if I liked this? I know that there are more new marvel cartoons out there such as Justice League and stuff. Which one should I watch?

Lol, JLU is DC :p . If you liked X-men evolution, then try the Ultamite comics, such as Ultamite X-men, Ultamite Spiderman (my personal Favorite), The Ultamites (Captain America, SHEILD, Iron Man, Thor), Ultamite Iron Man, etc. I really think they should have made cartoons out of those. And this isn't really relevent, but you should also try out Samurai Jack. Damn, did that show kick ass......

Edit to down below: WATCH SAMURAI JACK!

Anyway, you know what I mean. Recommend cartoons!
I don't have the patience to read all those comics. I want animation!
