View Full Version : Crossover fan art

Being an anime fan, sometimes I cannot help but think of what ifs in terms of character interaction, as well as the art that may be created from it. So I tried drawing some crossover pictures of my favorite characters from different anime. This 1st one is saber and revy from Fate Stay Night and Black Lagoon. It is just straight scanned from the sketchpad, but maybe I will upload a colored version later. What do you guys think?

Interesting choices for the crossover.
Nice sketch by the way.

This one is only saber, so its technically not a crossover pic at all, but what the hey.

I am running out of ideas for crossovers. Which characters would look good together in a picture? Does anyone have any ideas? By the way, thanks for the comments!

That's seriously excellent stuff. You could work for the industry.

Rukia and Saber clashing swords. Since I'm a hopeless Rukia fanboy, I can easily suggest this... I don't actually know how good they would look together in the same picture, but I'll leave that for your consideration.

nice drawings! it's good to have a newcomer with some skills. do you have any other fanarts or did you just start recently?
oh, and please remember to label any pics with nudity in the future.

I used to draw during class to drown away the lecture. That was probably the only time I drew characters from actual anime. But I have tried making my own manga once, never completed it though. (maybe I should) I just started making fan art a week ago. Sorry bout not properly marking the nude pick, I thought writing H would be enough.
Bout the rukia and saber pic, if I can finish all the crap I have to do in order to continue daily life I may be able to post it tomorrow.
Again, thanks for all the positive comments!

Here is a drawing I just made. This one is thanks to the idea of a saber rukia crossover. The scan has much lower contrast than the real one though, that is why the lines seem thin and faded.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/124731246112515125310004.jpg
This one is the saber pic scanned with an actual scanner. Yet for some reason, the contrat goes way down. Im just borrowing my roommates scanner so I cant really complain though...
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/124731246112515125310005.jpg
Still thinking of what crossover to do next. If anyone has suggestions, please.

Wow that was fast, Rukia looks excellent in that sketch. You really....Capture both of em.:D
God would I love to see these as real quality renders.
Your are very good, I can only sketch decent DBZ characters, but one would take me like a week to finish.
The Saber one is awesome as well.

A cool picture, although it might not be technically quite as balanced as the excellent Saber pose you now posted properly scanned. But funnily enough I had something like that in mind, when I posted the original suggestion. It seems to be Rukia's style to jump like that.

Here is a new pic, along with some dialogue...
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/IMG_1904.jpg
Haruhi : Gotcha! Now I can go dress you up in a bunny suit and trade you for a melon pan!
Tessa : No.. Please.. Stop..
Haruhi : Yes! Thats the reaction you need to attract buyers. You will learn a lot more from your senpai Mikuru later.
Tessa : But I dont want to learn such behavior! Stop! I am a captain of a ship you know! I am even a whispered! Im not a member of this club! Im not even from this anime! Go melancholic on someone else!! Yaaa!!!
Haruhi : And Im the captain of the mystery brigade! With such a level of acting, maybe you dont need Mikurus help afterall. Hurry up and take a photo of this scene Kyon, an erotic struggle like this will certainly attract aliens, people from the future, and espers to join our club!
Kyon : They are already here, regular members in fact. And I cant really take any pictures anymore because I was shot in the head by that stiff military jerk with twiching cheeks.
Haruhi : Please stop narrating to yourself and shoot!
Kyon : I cant! I said Im dead!
Haruhi : Who cares? Just shut up and shoot!
Sousuke : Roger.
BANG!

here is the scanned copy of TeletHaruhi cross. Dialogue is the same (refer to previous post).

Taking the advice of Oyabin, I edited the eyebrows a bit to make Haruhi look scarier (and consequently more Haruhi).
The next crossover is probably Meia from Vandread and Lacus from Seed. Again thanks for the comments!

Here is the new and improved version of the teletharuhi cross. It definitely looks more like haruhi now.

This is the properly scanned copy of the Meia and Lacus cross.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/Meialacus.jpg
And this is a new piece. Eureka from Eureka 7, and Dee (D?) from Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure. I was surprised at how similar they are. Same green hair, same strange life form, same strange attitude, both robot pilots, and both change in appearance approaching the end of the series.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/Deureka.jpg
I was thinking about making a Miyuki (you are under arrest) and Naru (love hina) cross next. Maybe ill make that an H one, seems to suit their pairing anyway.

Very interesting drawings. Too bad half of the series you have crossed over from of late are unknown to me. It kind of lessens the impact for me, personally.
shinta|hikari
Sun, 06-04-2006, 10:13 AM
Havent finished the new cross yet. Still cant think of a good pose for the H one. But dont worry, I still have a new pic to post.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/IMG_1913.jpg
Again this is not really a crossover, but as can be seen with the number of saber drawings in this thread, I am a saber fan, hence I like to draw her. This is just another sketch I did on a whim, and since its already drawn, why not post it?
This is just the poor quality copy though. Scan will probably be out tomorrow.
Kraco - I kind of understand what you mean. The reason im doing crossovers in the first place is to get the impact of seeing characters you know with characters they never would normally have contact with. But if the character itself is unknown to the viewer, it would look like just any other picture, lacking any feeling nor meaning whatsoever. Since you liked the last saber one, hope this new one caters more to your taste.
Kraco
Sun, 06-04-2006, 10:30 AM
Wow. It most certainly does! That's a very mean looking Saber. It's great you have gone for different kinds of moods and feelings in your drawings, not to mention dynamic yet still artistic poses. It's different compared to the pictures that show the characters as if they were actually posing for a photographer.

Lots of new stuff to post! Well, not exactly new, but here are the scanned images of saber and revy that I was supposed to post earlier but couldnt having no access to a scanner.
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/saber2.jpg
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/revy01.jpg
This is a new cross that I just drew today. Its saya from blood+ and honoka from the third. I was looking for a good cross when I watched the latest raw episode of blood+, and saw the new saya. I immediately thought that I wanted to put her in a crossover, but didnt know just who to pair her up with. So I tried to find someone who had a lot of things in common yet would still provide good contrast. So I chose Honoka, them being both katana users and teenage girls with black hair (yeah the last two things are superficial I know, but so is almost everything else in life) yet with good contrast in character and expressions. But probably the common thing I liked the most is their eyes. Sayas glow red, while Honokas glow blue. (just like diva I might add) Here it is...
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/honokasaya.jpg
Lucifus - Well, I took a drawing class when I was 10, attended for 2 sessions, got bored then quit. Then one of my friends (really good artist, actually did animation work) taught me how to draw yusuke and hiei from yuyu hakusho (loved this anime when I was a kid) when I was 11. Aside from that, I just learned from scribbling stuff on paper, as well as trial and error (mostly error).
Anyway, thanks for your comments! Hope you guys keep visiting this thread, because I plan to post more stuff.

I am not arguing anything, though. I was just assuming that you havent watched blood+ 34 yet, since it hasnt been subbed by any groups that I know of. I didnt know you could understand japanese so I thought it was a reasonable assumption. If you have seen the latest raw episode and still dont recognize saya, then I guess I still have a long way to go.

What made me recognise her in that glance, was her sword.

After such a LOOONG break, Ive decided to try my hand at drawing some sketches again. Its not really a break from drawing, but rather a break from uploading them. Actually, I was already planning on doing a couple of sketches and colouring them, but I simply don't feel like doing them anymore, or at least, anytime soon. Why? Because I got this rep:
http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/rep.jpg
While I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I really would have liked it if this person wrote his comment on this thread so that I can address it properly. This is obviously not constructive criticism since it does not even clarify what specific things should be improved (aside from the word "proportion" of god knows what). Add to that the fact that it is anonymous, then it seems like it is the work of some talentless artist trying to take his frustrations out on someone.
Since I have already gone this far, I hope that if whoever wrote that rep sees this, he/she will identify him/herself. Bashing someone's work like that and simply hiding in the shadows is simply cowardly. Either way, complaining about proportions for anime style art is stupid, especially if most of my work is from Code Geass (which I bet everyone will agree is extremely stylized in terms of proportions).

Fri, 08-15-2008, 11:35 PM

You shouldn't listen to him/her just because they don't agree and obviously.. don't care, because they decided to send you an anonyous post to be a jerk. Other people still love to see your new drawings >.< Like me D:
It's just a faceless flame(?) to make themselves feel better for putting someone else down.

you draw for yourself and for the people who like your works and not for those who don't like them.
I think you should keep that in mind...and forget about this guy.
that aside, I think you really should improve the proportions a bit (even though he said it the wrong way, he has got a point there), imho C.C. is not *that* thin and probably that's the reason why she looks a bit... let's say "unfavorable"(?).
for example the santa-pic:
I personally believe that her arms and shoulders are too thin, but don't worry, I couldn't do something like this myself... so who am I to complain about your works?

I was trying to get the original art style when I did those, but maybe I overdid it a bit. Anyway, thanks for the comments!
I just did a new one, with C.C. and Lelouch in it. I kind of got lazy in the middle of doing it since I came up with a new idea for another C.C. drawing which kind of distracted me from finishing this one, but oh well.
Where the hand cannot reach (http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/Wherethehandcannotreach.jpg)

Spoiler:
Actually the expression is kind of based on his current situation (one of hopelessness), and the title is from the latest episode. I always believed that his despair will be alleviated by C.C., hence the pose in the picture. I tried to add tears in, but it didn't look good.
@Jaitne - I'm planning to make another C.C. drawing next for another translation project I am currently doing, but maybe after I can try making a tutorial. I honestly have never even thought of making one before, and I am very hesitant since I am not sure if I can make a decent one or if it will even make sense.

Not that there would be anything wrong with how your drew it, but I just like to see him with a wicked expression (and C.C. with a mysterious one). No doubt he has a right for it as well but a distraught Lelouch just doesn't look like a proper Lelouch...

@Jaitne - I'm planning to make another C.C. drawing next for another translation project I am currently doing, but maybe after I can try making a tutorial. I honestly have never even thought of making one before, and I am very hesitant since I am not sure if I can make a decent one or if it will even make sense.
I bet it'll make more sense than reading this one pattern I found. :P plus it gives you some more work to show off!

Here is my latest (but definitely not the last) installation to my C.C. art collection. It is also used in the sound episode (http://forums.gotwoot.net/showthread.php?p=397548#post397548) me and oyabin prepared for Code Geass R2. In fact, it is that sound episode that inspired me to make this piece. Comments and criticisms are welcome!

:o oh man! As president of your fan club, I must say this is great, too!
I love the fans and the hands, I think you did really well on the hands. It all looks very well done and even, plus your shadows look wonderful.
The eyes look really nice, they're one of my favourite things there, along with the clothes and the other things I listed >.>

You come through with a lot of consistency with regards to the neatness of your lineart and coloring. Thumbs up from me...never any complaints. And I'm digging the textured bg as well.

Thanks for the comments! The shrine maiden clothes are all new to me so I had a bit of trouble making the sleeves. I have like 10 different versions of the sleeves alone lol.

I have to say it really made a difference in the sound episode! Jolly good work. I've got nothing critical at all to say about the picture. The style is very faithful to the original. The pose is probably more relaxed, but that's no surprise since the official art makes the characters look like they are missing some essential protein structures in their joints. C.C. looks so happy that you can imagine somebody promised her a pizza for that cosplay.
Keep drawing and posting them here!

Thread resurrection.
I don't really have any new crossover art, but I did create a mascot for a Filipino website that a friend and me have been making.
Pino-tan (http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g310/shinta617/mascot4.jpg)
She is called Pino-tan, and the text on the flag is the site name. She is supposed to look like an Otaku, with the glasses and backpack.
Comments please!

Haha, yeah, I'd say it's a successful design. The backpack is really essential as well. Although a plastic bag with a couple of rolled posters sticking out in addition to it would have still added another otaku element.
:< was a good choice for the expression.

I cannot be any more Otaku without sacrificing cuteness. (The reverse is most likely true)

Here is something I finished just last week. It is a present for a Miku fanatic friend's birthday. I made everything from scratch, well, except the notes which are shapes in PS.

It looks amazing. I like how her hair is forming the egg shell around her.

Thanks! I was initially planning on making a close-up like the popular Sheryl Nome pic, but decided on this when I thought of the hair-eggshell idea. It also fit the birthday concept better.

Excellent Shinta! It's even smoother than your C2 work from way back when. Great job on the notes; damn, I'm jealous, I couldn't do this even if I wanted to. =[
Awesome birthday gift too.
