Deadfire's put good time and effort into this thing and is trying to give the opportunity for some fun. Somehow he fails to meet your lofty standards and now it starts raining bitches... No good deed goes unpunished indeed.

Let me try to clear this up a bit. The reason there are teams is precisely so that one person is not doing all the work. You can arrange so that one person each day is taking the picture. That way, if one person is away that day, or for some reason can't do it, another team member can cover for them. Of course, if one person really wanted, they could volunteer to do all the work, but any group event is like that. If your whole team is in Jadugar's position, (no camera, no family closeby, no friends) then the event will be re-evaluated. Otherwise, just take it like it is, lighten up, and have some fun. The items will not be hard to get. We're going to try to keep it to things that you would probably have in your house. We're not going to make you traipse all around the countryside looking for things. And even if you really can't find something, notice that completeness only accounts for half the total points you can get. You can get a better score overall than another team which gathered all the items if you do well on style and creativity.

xDM, the reason all the items have to be in a single picture, instead of submitting separate pictures of each of the items is to prevent cheating. It's really easy to find images on google, or online photo galleries of single items. It's really difficult however, to google images of a specific collection of items. Also, scoring would be much more difficult if each team was submitting a different number of pictures. It would be hard to make it fair.

This is a challenge, and as GWS progresses, the challenges are different, and they get harder. Not every event can be something you know you're good at. Be versatile, and work with your team.

At any rate, we're not sure when this event will begin, due to the server problems that gotwoot has been having. Deadfire will update you when we know more.

Well it looks like the forums are back up. Somewhat... it seems we will need to get going on this. However I'll point out two things.

The event calls for one picture meaning yes one person can just be doing the work. However I would like not to think that way. The team leader's job is to pick out of the ones the team has submitted (as everyone could take a picture if they wanted), but it's up to the team leader to choose which one to submit. With tech like it is now this isn't hard at all you can take many pictures and simply upload to something that hosts them or you can use other free services (like IRC and other instant messages) to send it to the Team captain. Those that are not able to take pictures can be one of the better people for the Team Leader job. As was pointed out by Kitkat that the points on completion are 10 of the 20 possible the other 10 are what can make or break your team.

Is it possible to do it yourself?

Yes it is.

Is it wise?

Possibly not as you’re other 3 members depend squarely on you to pull them though.

But don’t you think it'll be hard for people to vote off a team based on just the collection of stuff?

Not at all because if you haven’t noted the voting or rating here are done by the staff this time around.

Also I do try and think before I reveal something, meaning I do think of everyone as a whole and not as individuals. This is something that must be done to avoid such issues like favoring one side and the like. However it seems to me that no matter what I will do I will not please you. This is a fact of life; no one ever will like 100% of what you do and how you do it. We are all different. With that being said if you have issues with how I’ve done things you post them like you should and do. However I’m not going to reply and sort out everything based on a “me” problem, which for a lack of a better word self-centered to that individual. If it effects everyone equally then I’ll look into it and change it as soon as I can, please remember this.

I do yes become frustrated as I can't tolerate misunderstandings to a degree, and as Masa pointed out I can just stop right now and leave it be which lets everything you did be forfeit. I dislike thinking that that will happen and thus I continue. This is for you; just don’t take the “you” as a meaning toward only yourself and not others.

I wish not to say anything more on this, if you want to quit go ahead. I have not denied you that freedom.

I hate to say this but this is the first time I have really talented people in my team and I was really looking forward to putting their individual skills to the extreme. I am not slogging off my previous team mates, they were great and they brought something unique and unexpected to the discussions table. I would have liked to work with Xan and FrogKing a bit more. Especially CK and I would have made a mini-series about Kisame and Itachi if we carried on but that’s in the past.

I was thrilled when the new teams were announced.

I haven’t had a good sig maker or someone who can use Photoshop really well, on my team. Ok maybe I can do a bit of photo shopping here and there but my work is not very professional. I was really looking forward to put PSJ’s Photoshop’s skills to the maximum.

I was really looking forward to use Kraco’s witty comments and his linguistic skills to a better use than just collecting items.

I was looking forward to use UltraDarkRedX1’s immense powers. Err………..I still don’t know about his powers as of know but I think he likes red, a lot.


BTW they have already elected me as their team leader. We still haven’t decided on a team name or a team sig yet.

Do you see my frustration? Do you understand how I feel about not working my team’s ass off? I wanted to use all of my team members individual skills fused together to put something really good to entertain people at GW and ourselves. I wanted something out of everyone in my team.

Some of you suggested that this task can be done by one person or more and the whole team doesn’t have to get involved. But I don’t like that. What’s the point of having really good individuals and not using them? I can sit through this task telling my team mates to do stuff and they would do the task but that’s not how I want it to be.

GW has been down for a couple of days now and I have been reflecting on this task and tried to be positive about it. But the whole idea is not very appealing to me and is not a very good one. The first event was good, the second was great and I was expecting an awesome new task and that’s not the case.

Now I must say something about all of DeadFire’s efforts. He has done great. I have been here at GW for about a year and I haven’t seen anybody put so much effort into something. Maybe someone did but I missed it. I was really glad when he was chosen to be a mod and I am not saying this because that would be a popular thing to do but I was genuinely enthralled by his modship. I knew he would bring a new flare to GW and he has. Thanx to all his efforts and the other mods who have helped him along the way to make this event possible. Not everything he does is not to my liking but I will gladly tell him how I feel in a sincere way.

I posted before what I felt like. I am not a person to hide my feeling just because they would be unpopular or would be disliked by others. I haven’t quite mastered the act of diplomacy. I am working o it.

There is one thing that I would like to point out that I am not the only one disliking this task. I acted as leader of Team #1 ( haven’t decided on our team name ) and CK (Chaoskiddo) expressed his opinion as the leader of the Team # 3. So that’s two team captains out of three not liking the new task.

I would have asked dropout Team leader, Deblas, to express his opinion but as DeadFire would know that he is out of the country on his three week Euro trip. But I am pretty sure that he would have agreed with me. I am not putting my ego or needs in this protest. I am not alone in this. There is not only “me” but there are “others”.

I agree with Jadugar's comments. The two previous rounds required skills and contributions from each of the team members. The only thing about this round is the "artistic arrangement" of the items when you take the picture.

Was I severely disappointed when I read the event description? No. It just surprised me that the third round would be a scavenger hunt. It's a big difference from the first two rounds.

So how long does this event last now and when does it start since I believed all events lasted a week, gotwoot being down for the majority of the week kinda screws that over doesn't it. I agree with jadugar's long but bitching post and agree that it would be great to actually work with my teammates, for this event however it seems like whoever has the camera has to do the work.

That would be inferring and taking for granted that everybody participating has a digital camera or cell phone etc whatever the fuck. This round requires really no skill unless some people have a hard time pressing the button.

I just thought that this scavenger hunt might have been more appropriate if the list contained objects/characters/stuff from anime and those would need to be combined with Photoshop to a wholesome scene. Granted, that would require some moderate Photoshop skills, but I'm pretty sure every team must have at least one if not more good (or even excellent) PS users. It's so common a skill nowadays like all the great sigs here have proven time after time.

This way the event would have required innovation, good memory (dunno if that's good or not), much effort for sure and skills, and it would have ended up in stuff with a plot, as much as a single picture can contain a plot, or call it a tought-out scene. Even the "plot" could have been predefined to an extent like in the last events.

Of course this would probably need to be a normal week long even. I doubt anybody could scan for really good images from a good number of animes, much less combine them with quality in PS every day. Normal voting could then have been used to decide the winner.

So, for example the list could be (material (each named object must be from a different anime) and immaterial):
A mountain
Palm trees
A mecha or mechas
Two generic anime chicks
One hero anime girl
One weakling dude
One hero dude
An ugly villain
Tension
Romance
... etc...

Now, I'm not saying this would have necessarily made a great event (I have no experience in designing any kind of events), but it would have suited an anime forum, and been somewhat similar to the last events.

I like the new format of the new task and the possibilities it brings and mysteries that it hides but there isn’t enough time to put the story together and bind all the images together. Unless you want a really short story. Two days aren’t enough and I am working on both days. We will see what happens.

Also so far the captains of the teams really haven’t had any special privileges or powers through this contest. It would be a good idea to throw in some kind of plot device, just a suggestion.

I seem that Gotwoot has not had a VA article for sometime and we the contestants of GWS have not had a challenge set so far.

I do not know if DeadFire has something in the pipeline for the next event. It has been hard on him because he has been sick for the past week and he had to deal with the lawsuits and the allegations of being a commie.

Therefore, I was thinking that why not kill two birds with one stone ( no actual birds will be harmed of course). Why do not we ( GWS contestant ) do an article on a VA.?

As far as how many teams and who will be paired with whom, I leave that to DeadFire but I would suggest four teams and a two-week completion time to make it more feasible and interesting. In addition, can we choose the VA?

Only the two high scoring teams will go to the FINAL round. This is just an idea and DeadFire will take a final decision on how to do things. He can of course change the whole setup if he wants to. Maybe he has a better idea.

This whole thing is not a final. We need DeadFire’s approval and Massa’s permission to do this. If both are ok with it then we can go ahead.

In addition if any of the remaining contestants have any other better ideas then please put forward them.
