That is...which school is this? Seriously though, what is wrong with people nowadays? This is just twisted.

*sigh* another weird wtf news thread... Nobody ever wants to discuss the current events that actually matter...

The guy was probably trying to perv a reaction out of his kids. I highly question his intent in picking out that activity as a kind of punishment. Wonder what his punishment will be...

That's twisted indeed. I can't begin to imagine what the teacher was thinking if the story's true. This is the kind of thing most people couldn't even imagine or ever come to think of if they didn't read it somewhere first...

Maybe the teacher was a religious "all porn is satan" person who really believed that the children would suffer.

Imagine how evil such a teacher would be!

Hmm... Don't such religious people typically think porn (and like) corrupts? It would make thus no sense to use it as a punishment. Normally you would think if they caught somebody watching porn, they would punish him/her.

This is essentially why this whole news sounds so bizarre.

I knew that some people gave there children a shitload of booze and cigarette's to make them sick so they won't use it agean (which is a stupid way to teach your children something).... But with porn??

Seriously though, what state is this school in?how did the teacher suddenly have porno videos on him? Who in the right mind carries porn around with themselves to their job?

Heh heh. A very good point, God#2. The school was actually in Malaysia, where the official religion is Islam. That in itself of course may make the offence worse. However, since there is a freedom of religion in the country, the teacher might belong to any religion.

But I think it would be embarrassing to any nation to have news like that spread across the world...

The news just get weirder and weirder these days, what the fuck is wrong with people seriously? The rate of idiots increase faster than the rate of people. Somebody should check into this.

Wow, I'm at a loss of words about this, it's werid alright. Am I the only one that thinks this is fake? Possibly the video could have been a Sex-ed video we all saw at high school.

someone should read up on some Malaysian social life and give some background basis for this.

Thats a good point. I'm really not sure what the teacher was trying to accomplish, if these alligations are true...but i wouldn't mind being in that class.

Religious tolerance my ass, Malaysia is strict as all hell. Lately they've been trying to ban all black metal in the country in the name of religious morality, and many, many Malaysians have sided with the decision to do this.

what does black metal have to do with religious tolerance?

Besides, didn't the aussie PM say he wanted to ban porn? now thats strict as hell.

Maybe it was an elaborate scheme by the students so they could just watch porn all day. They sneakily suggested the punishment to the teacher and he jumped at the idea.

It couldn't have been a sex ed video judging by the way the authorities are jumping at this teacher.

@ Masa: You may want to discuss more serious issues, but I feel I am no longer able to do so. I live in the UK and recently a new act of parliament came into force which has outlawed the 'glorification' of terrorism. Legally, no one knows what this means. Due to to this there has been a fear created in the UK with regards to speaking out on serious issues such the Iraq War, the Middle East conflict, Iran etc. The government in the UK is becoming increasingly draconian and is stifiling legitimate debate on issues which to be honest it doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Examples of this things which could be criminal to praise: Nelson Mandela, any resistance movement against foreign armies, support for opposition to established governments. So I guess a practical application of this law would be that the in the UK it is illegal to voice your support for the rioters if you were so inclined. The rioters by the way are opposed to the King and want to apparantly have a system of government which is chosen by them and is acccountable, unlike the King. The King has already caused some deaths in recent days to the actions of the Nepalese army, who acted on his orders and fought with their own people.

what does black metal have to do with religious tolerance?.

Banning a form of music for being anti-Islam is being pretty intolerant

You are posting at an anime download site's forum about some vague law that nobody can really explain? There's a saying in Finland that you don't need to go to fish farther away than the ocean. Copyright laws are easier to understand than some "terrorism glorification" law, so maybe you should arrange things into a better perspective before becoming too worried.

I have to confess I don't really know the country. I just knew some basic text book facts, which might be different than the reality (like you pointed out).

i'd quite like to see the letter (that is, the actual written form) of this law you're talking about. PM me the name of it and I'll look it up.

I'll save my rant about people reading tabloids instead of frontpages, voting for American Idol but not their Congressmen for another day. If people want to discuss it, more power to them.

I'm just interested in what kind of punishment this teacher will recieve. I highly doubt his defense can come up with anything to save his ass, as all arguments they make will be quite flimsy.

(even in the US showing porn to a minor, without it being 'educational' in nature is illegal. You also must allow individual students to opt out of watching the visual material, you cannot force them to watch it. ... at least that was the case several years ago in NY.... I can't imagine Malaysia's laws are less stringent on this.)

Punishment for not doing homework... i wonder if any such punishment that doesn't involve more homework or extra assignments is not technically educational?

@Kraco and Masa: I was looking for a good article on the law, I havn't been able to find one yet... need to search around a bit but once I find it I will PM it to you guys.
