The First '06 Comp - Results

Well, you've all been good little boys and girls (and Terra) so, as promised) here are the results. I'm gonna do this according to ranck in the comp. Our winner, with 24pts, meaning this person won each round, is none other than the awsome, cool, sexy ;), KITKAT!!!

Now, for some irony. Me an KitKat chat every now and then. Everytime the deadline is a week away, she has been telling me that she's not gonna be in that round. I kept telling her thats fine and no one is forceing her. But for some reason, every round, she has sent something in and took the gold. I find this way too funny and had to share it.

Next, our Second place: Itachi! Itachi pull out with a solid 12 pts, getting the second everytime. I have alway been a fan of his work, and he was also the OLNY one in this comp who sent his work in early :D

Now, third place ended up in a tie, between myself and Lazy. I'll post Lazy's work first then my own. Lazy did awsome here. :cool:

Me myself, for the past 2 months, I've been going through a whole buch of crap from my new job, training and all. I already knew from that that I wasnt gonna win, busyness and all, but it was fun seeing how everything turned out. Both me and Lazy scored 7pts total.

Anyway, Kitkat! You fucking outclassed everyone! Excellent work. But you know now that means I am going to be bugging you for tips on my future sigs (which obviously have a ways to go)

Thanks guys. I'm really glad that you liked them. Like Phoenix said, I nearly backed out of the competition each round due to heinous amounts of schoolwork that I had, but somehow I couldn't resist the photoshop and found a bit of time each week to come up with something. Congrats to the other winners as well. There were some neat sigs in this comp, and it was nice to see some styles and themes that we don't normally have around here.

I thought I'd briefly go through my sigs since PSJ suggested I reveal to you my technique for the final one and I can't just talk about that one and snub the other two because that would be mean.

First sig: Orlando Bloom = <3 x 100 *KitKat swoons*

Second sig: This is probably the one I spent the most time on. Each element is from a different place. The brick is a little square for a background pattern I found somewhere and ditto with the ground. The trashcan and the bottle were extracted from different photographs I found searching google images. And I think that pic of Bender is a fanart of some sort. It took a while to arrange all these until I was satisfied, and light them properly, but it turned out pretty well.

Third sig: Yes, as most guessed, this was a straight-up photomanip. I didn't have much time to work on it because I was in dire danger of failing and not graduating, so I only allotted myself a bit of time to work on it. I started out searching 'car' on google images, and couldn't find a picture I liked. I know, I don't really know anything about car. So I recruited my housemate to find me a good pic, and he put on an episode of Top Gear and took a random screenshot for me.

I did a bunch of colour adjusting, and took out the wall behind the car on the right (you can actually see part of the wall in the sig, since I was rushing and didn't manage to be too precise). The speed effect was basically using the 'Wind' filter, and selectively erasing it over parts of the sig that I didn't want it. Kindof a rough technique, but fairly effective within the time restraints I was working under.

Masa (or anyone else), you're welcome to pm me or find me on AIM/IRC anytime if you'd like any help. I still don't consider myself to be very good at photoshop yet, but any help that I am able to give, I'd gladly share.

Kudos to you, Phoenix. You did very well with setting this up and organizing. I especially liked having surprise themes and the challenge of working with images I normally wouldn't consider making a sig from.

Heh, well, if I didnt set it all up like this, it would've been boring :D

The themes were meant for us to have fun with PS and explore different techniques and stuff, and not be limited to anime alone. I'm glad everyone enjoyed them and had fun with the comp., which is exactly why we had it in the first place, to have fun :D

Looks like I'll have to participate in the next one. Though I doubt I could match KitKat. And Phoenix, nice job for arranging all this. I watched from the shadows during the whole comp. Too bad more people didn't participate though... I could see IFHTT doing a comp with how good he's become.

Anyways... look forward to the next one, and hopefully I'll be around to submit some works.

Excellent work KitKat, Glad to say I voted for your sigs everytime, didn't even know who submitted em. I don't even know why your using a sig I made and not one of your own.

At the others, also very nice work, and the themes of each sig had alot of variety, don't see that alot. When the next comp comes around, I think i'm going to enter. :D
