First episode hasn't been released yet, but I found the OP on tokyotosho so we can at least see how the animation will look like:

http://www.frozen-layer.net/bittorrent/archivo.php?id=31429

I'm just going to go ahead and warn the many manga readers of this series to be very careful on how you discuss this series, or I may have to start banning people for spoiling.

For those of you who don't know this series is by the same mangaka who did Tenjou Tenge so you can at least expect a fair amount of fights, hot chicks, and fan service.

"*Based on the manga by Oh Great!*

Air Gear is yet another work of "Oh Great!", other known works by him were Tenjou Tenge and Majin Devil. The story revolves around Ikki (Minami Itsuki) and the sport of air treck- sport involving self-propelled shoes. Ikki is fascinated with flying and his chance meeting with the sport changes his outlook and priorities in life. The middle school student is pushed forward to the underground world of A-T by Simca, a mysterious..."

Heh, and for all of you, like myself, who cant wait on BT for this, the OP has been posted on youtube.com

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycYQsIkBfXI&search=air%20gear

I love the choice of opening song. It has a good feel to it, and the animation looks essesally nice for certain parts. Other parts look like its counter part og Tenjo Tenge, which imo had pretty good animation. I'm really looking forward to see if any groups like Kraze pick this up.

Awesome animation for this series, it fits the manga style very well.

Can't wait till this is released and a good subbing group pick this up.

I don't know if I really want to watch this, something about a 15 sec. title shot doesn't sit well with me.

I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with the manga. The animation style doesn't seem to go with the art style as far as I'm concerned. With broadcasting, we will also lose many of the the heavily perverted sequences that make Oh Great! titles sucessful as manga, but once lost, produce a bomb of a series.

Why in god's name is Ringo's hair almost purple? It's a lightish brown on all of the covers she's featured on.

I'mnot all that worryed about the lack of pervertedness. I just hope they dont try to cram 12 volumes into a 26 episode series, or even do the first half of the story and leave us hanging with no animation *cough*tengotenge*cough cough*

I wish I still had Jet Set Radio Future. :(
Decent premier episode. Plenty of hot chicks, to be expected from Oh! Great. The music was good as well. (The ending theme video reminded me of FLCL)
I'll probably have to read the manga soon.

second that. mediocrity seems to exude from this series... way too many other new shows and ones still ongoing that i'm taking over this one. heck, i like Zoids Genesis better than this... but hopefully this will get better in time?

I really doubt this show will get any better with time. They kinda homoganized Air Gear int oa TV freindly version. This show was dead before it was even drawn.

I mean he just puts the skates on and after like 3 episodes all of a sudden he is fucking Jesus? I may give this one more episode but I doubt ill keep watching.

Well, there are people that are better than him on the AT's.

They seem to be going through this fairly quickly. I'm not so disappointed with this show. I'm just a big fan of Air Gear, although there are parts that I don't agree with and don't like, but on the whole I'm enjoying so far, upto episode 3.

I watched the first 3eps since a friend of mine sent them to me over aim. The show seems to be ok, nothing special I just don't like the way the eps end. The ending never seems to have conclusions or cliff hangers. I'll wait a couple of weeks and then pick up some more eps.

… if i’m going to continue to watch this shit they are gonna have to get rid of them #$&*ing crows!

The crows are rather annoying but needed as those happen to be the scenes that are closest to the manga this is being adapted from.

Overall I found this series to be a surprize when I watched episode one as I hadn't read the manga at that point and found the concept of this show to be fairly well thought out. On the other hand I'm surprized any lawyer would allow them to put a show like this into production without some form of disclaimer as the "rocket powered rollerskates" seem like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

However a bit of disclaimer to anyone really enjoying the anime... DO NOT read the Manga unless you want to become disappointed in the progression of this series. I think the first 3 episodes covered something like the first 20 chapters and it was boiled down to the point most of the characters are not even remotely the same. Although if you can accept the manga and anime as differn't series entirely I do recommend the manga as it is excellent source work and contains no crows :P

In the long run I'll continue to download this series as even tough its nowhere near the quality of the manga it is better then the majority of new series we have to choose from right now and I'm interested to see how they handle future events being the two are so differn't.

I've had no issues with playback for episode 6 myself but they did release a 2nd tracker after I had already downloaded the episode. Do you know if your copy is from the first or second tracker? Also is this the first time that an episode has had errors for you?

I'm still watching this and rather glad that I am at this point. The series really has picked up and started to repair a lot of the damage done by mashing together so much at the start. Honestly anybody who is a fan of the Manga and may have stopped watching this needs to watch 7-9 because I have a feeling you will be very happy with what they have managed to do lately.

Nah, I'm still watching this, just haven't commented on the anime, been in the manga section. Also, this is about to take over where scum scans is upto on the manga, this episode is the same as their last scan.

Now, it's going to be completely new for me too, it seems the fight will finish before it is interrupted, I was thinking that the cops could storm the place before hand, but now I think that Ikki will take down these guys and the cops will get Behemoth easily, while everyone else makes a quick getaway.

Even though Kazu lost his battle this time around he is still the coolest member of their team. Plus it looks like they will be winning with their own strength from now on without having swimsuit mask or whatever she calls herself support. The thing I don't get is how can a D-Class rider be a king, I would think the title of King would belong to all A Class level riders.

AnimePunk
Sun, 08-27-2006, 03:27 PM
if u have seen the eps before the end of the battle, it would show that he made a promise with the pink hair AT Rider (i forgot her name). The promise was to stop some of the small teams from raising a level, but at the same time they would stay on the d class level by losing there last battle before raising another level on purpose

Hmmm.. Both Anidb and ANN place Airgear at 25 episode series. If thats the case, I see a completely rushed ending and a great need for a season 2. This is apparent due to episode 22 looking like a pointless non plot moving, non-genesis related episode. ( some school trip episode )

Well, episode 20 is like chapter 70, and currently there is 101 chapters available (raw).
So, they will probably make this season 1, stop the anime until the manga gets further away, and then come back with a season 2.

Well, this episode was certainly entertaining, I laughed in many places. I was suprised with the action taken from Simca, I didn't think it was going to happen like this, I wonder how things will proceed from now on, I want to see more Ikki fun, with him becoming better with his ATs not generally getting into fights but using them alot better, or something. I'm wondering how long this anime/manga is going to be, I don't see it becoming a really long series, but I do see it being quite big.

I can see an airgear season 2 in the works, just by looking at the direction the show is going to. Its nice to see episode 22, actually tieing into the plot of the story. The preview of 22 in episode 21 was quite deceptive, but iam glad it was, since a non plot episode would have been terrible.

I still have not found the confirmation of my interest in a second season. I wish they would make on already... This is really starting to make me angry.

I apologize for reviving a dead thread, but I just finished watching this series. I have a few questions.

1) Will they be making a 2nd season?
2) What exactly does it mean to go to war with genesis?
3) Why would he go to war with genesis?
4) If he did go to war with genesis, would that mean it would be 5-10 people (crow and his crew) against 300..?

Thank you, everyone.
