With the ressurection of the pic thread I thought that maybe it was time for a pet thread where we could discuss and post pictures of our respective pets. If any of you have an animal of interest whether it's your by association or ownage then please come and discuss. To start things off here are a few baby quaker parrot pictures in tribute to my loveable quaker parrot Captain Crunch

Haha, they ARE fat! It's cause they're all too good at being cute and conning my mom into giving them extra food. Plus, they tank up quite a bit during the winter to put on an extra layer of insulation against the cold. They have to spend every night outside (the idea is that they run around catch mice, scratch trees, roll in the grass, etc) so they spend most of the day sleeping, or wandering around trying to find a warm lap to steal. I'm sorry to hear about your little kitty i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif I hope Tinkerbelle has better luck.

My friend's gf's cats are like that. She lives in a more rural area, so her cats stay outside for catching mice and such. I take it that means yours aren't de-clawed then, huh?

Yeah, my little guys still have their claws (to the detriment of our furniture), and both of them are actually very good at catching mice. They like to bring their trophies by the glass door in the morning so we can admire them before they eat them. Creeper has also been known to catch birds, moles, and even small rabbits.

I totally agree.

And to those that say cat claws hurt, then you shouldnt have been bugging them in the first place. i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif. Out of my two cats, I have never been scratched or bitten by either of them. Well, not intentionally anyways, the only time that might happen is if I have them in my arms and they get suddenly get scared(like someone turns on the vacuum cleaner nearby). Guess thats just because they've been well brought up. But don't let that fool you, they are awesome hunters despite their normally docile demeanor. Heck, I cant even count the number of dead birds or mice I found on my doorstep., and this one time I found two dead baby hares at my back door. Never looked at my kitties them the same way again...

And plus, I believe cats are naturally tamer than dogs. I'm sure you've heard of stories of dogs killing young children and other pets, but I'm guessing you've never heard anything like that about cats.

Thats because cats can smell wimpiness. If you are a wimp, they will be mean to you because you are not worth their time. Otherwise they are very nice, and make comfortable fluffy footwarmers that purr.

That is the most ridiculous "proverb" I've ever heard, and no, it's not my first time hearing it. Just because *somebody* long ago adored his dog does not make dogs man's best friend. Whoever invented that should be hung.

I think I'm more a cat person than a dog but dogs can be cool too. I prefer cats because of the way you have to earn their trust and friendship in order to get along. I like that challenge. Most dogs I ever encountered just run up to you slobbering and pawing for a pat on the head i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Yeah but the reason why I like dogs better then cats is simply because they are far more loyal and sincere then cats. Cats always roam about the house like there better then you. Plus I feel like I can never really truly trust a cat. Simply because they have those claws and you never quite know when those are going to come out. Then again maybe it was from my traumatizing childhood experience is the reason why I hate cats.

When I was little back when my family lived in New York City my mom had this cat named biezel(yes he was named after beazulbub lord of the flies). Essentially he had the top roost in the household until I came into the picture. From there on in I directly competed for the affections of my mother and kinda won out. So biezel was never very nice to me. He just kinda always hissed and scratech. Then again I wasn't particularlly nice either, always trying to run and chase him around. But he'd always hide under my bed and I was scared shitless to get my toys simpy because I never knew if we was there or not lurking for me, waiting to scratch me with his claws.

But best of all are fricking parrots, you have to earn a parrots respect and once you have it it's fricking awesome. I like physical animals and there is nothing more kickass then having a little tropical bird running around on your shoulder.

Lol, yeah I bet he coughs up hairballs that could subjugate a stormdrain. And he probably takes hours to clean himself. Is he a special breed?

Here are a couple more pics of my babies. Skittles is 100% barn cat (we rescued him as a kitten before the annual kitten 'disposal' as happens on so many farms) and Creeper was found on the side of a road in a cardboard box. Creeper is the fluffier one, but doesn't even come close to the fluffiness of yours, Deblas.

My birds had 2 youngs kids now!

They are quite weird. One of them is always battling with his parents and wanting to discover the whole cage. The younger one is always sleeping by putting his head on the ground kind of like a dog ( he wouldnt sleep normaly as bird usually do.). Also, he is making weird sounds with his beak closed and always sleeping.

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/6179/img1934tv1.th.jpg (http://img150.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img1934tv1.jpg)

http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/8185/img1928yl1.th.jpg (http://img149.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img1928yl1.jpg)
If you would look well in this picture, you would see the mom is sleeping on the younger one and on their left is the other child. The younger one always sleeps like that even though he is alone in the nest. He isnt sleeping normaly like the older one on the left.

My dog is a chow chow. He's 12 years old

The first is what he used to look like and the second 2 are what he looks like now (he's been losing hair rapidly and are hoping that the thyroid tests come back positive - its the easiest one to treat.)

by the way, did anyone check out the Puppy Bowl last Sunday? It came on Animal Planet for pretty much the whole day and it was just a bunch of puppies romping around a play area that looked like a football field. I watched it for like an hour...it was awesome.

btw, how do you attach a video in to the post? i.e. (txt, pic, txt, pic...) mine just shows the txt above "attached images"

If you want to intersperse your text with your images, you need to host them externally at a site like Photobucket or Imageshack (both are wonderful free services). They will automatically generate the links for you, as well as [IMG ] code if you want to put a picture rather than a link in your post.

hes cute but he's not friendly at all. Don't get me wrong he's the best when it comes to my family, but he will hardly let people who have been over for the past 10 years play with him. I guess it depends on his mood. Sometimes he'll let them play with him and other times he'll snap at them if they come anywhere close to him. Chow's are awesome that way :) It's like having your own personal fuzzball that no one else can touch...literally.

btw, how come no one has a FAT cat?? I love those guys! One of my friends has 2 enormous cats and i can never stop playing with them even though they scratch the hell outta me. (Cat's always remind me of Hupple's cat in Catch-22)

oh yeah, how old is everyones pet?
