Wild Striker proved to me that soccer animes can be very good.

I liked Whistle! more than Wild Striker myself...

Anyways, this series is pretty good... I think it'll have a good romance plot underneath it that will make this series a great soccer anime.

this series is a pretty decent mix of sports and school drama. ep 6 bordered on max-cheesiness though with how they ended the gang fight. "let's play soccer!" hehe i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif

you're right, the drama was incredibly shitty...to the point where it's painfully hilarious. the only two highlights of this ep were the right wing's passing and the main dude's kick with one hand on the ground (forgot everyone's names =P)

Yeah, I don't know anyone's name in this series... I only know Kubo, and that's only because it's freaking mentioned 200 times in every episode.

Downloaded the first 3 episodes and loved them, so downloading the other 4 that have been released so far now. Definately seems like a series I could get into.

If you guys are liking this, I really recommend Touch released by central-anime. It's about baseball, but it's really good. Cental-Anime released it completely...

just watched ep 11. I rolled my eyes at this love triangle development but displayed remarkable restraint from hitting the 10-sec fwd button on my VLC player.

Plus, I can't help being amused by this starry-eyed "I love soccer!" message that's implied over and over again. If anyone actually took that stuff to heart, he'd believe that soccer is the key instrument for world peace! (Look! It can stop gang wars and make friends!) :D What a great, old-school, cheesy anime!

Episode 18 was great, probably the best episode thus far.


Kubo was amazing, he did all the soccer tricks to get past everyone, I really liked it. Since he started sweating a lot, I knew there was something wrong with him, especially when his girlfriend said that he suddenly called her to come to the game. Maybe he foresaw that it might be his last game or something. He probably has been going to the hospital regularly and that's why he's always dissapearing. Wasn't he in the hospital when the series began?

Heh, I can't remember if he was in the hospital or not. But running across the entire field and getting past 11 players all by himself was certainly awesome. Cruiff turn! Ahh!!

And how many flashbacks will each character have at a critical moment of Kubo encouraging them and telling them that they can DO it :p

I must say I've never seen a show this old look this good and I've seen lot's of oldies!
Good job, Saizen. Is anybody here actually still watching? The pace seems to be picking up again with drama both on and off the field.
