Wow. Quite an episode. First I have to say, as it has been discussed already, that the mp4 (and file size) really shows. Damn the picture quality was top-notch! Quite brilliant image indeed. However, there's also some "air" in the release that has bloated the file a bit.

What comes to contents, the second season seriously doesn't seem to lose to the first at all. It was just as packed with craziness and a neverending chain of misunderstandings. Also the beginning certainly was great, featuring badass Samurai Harima...

OP and ED were good. Maybe not as memorable or striking as in the first season, but good nevertheless.

But what was with that WF's own clip that had been added to the end. Man, it was embarrassing... But gotta give kudos to them for having the guts to pull off something like that.

Edit: Oh, it's too bad Ichijou didn't have a single line (I think...). So, we can't judge how well the changed voice actress fares in the role.

Well, it's a container format. In that sense one might say it doesn't automatically grant any superior quality, as it could still be composed of old fashioned video and audio, because the standard allows use of a variety of formats, some of them historical. However, it's natural to assume that whoever opts to use mp4, will rather use new formats than old for picture and audio, like H.264 and AAC (I'm sure these sound familiar). Now, that being said, it's evident that any mkv could give the same quality, as they can also contain those formats. The difference here is mainly the fact that MP4 is an ISO standard, whereas things like mkvs are inventions put together by lone pioneers.

Couldn't stop laughing during the episode..the misunderstandings are piling up and now basically the whole school knows about 'it'.
The series just picks up where they left without any problems at all. Besides the intro and ending it just felt like I was back home after a vacation. :) I can only hope that we'll be lucky enough to have releases on a regular basis(but if we don't, we don't..), because it tastes like MORE!
Next ep will show Neo-Harima.. can't wait for that :D:D

the thing i really really truely appreciate about school rumble is that, they don't hold back on making fun of characters, Harima is the perfect example, and they did it on someone else this time, and it AWESOM! WAAHAHHA
btw, ichijo finally appeared, (thank god!), and they gave a lot chances to the new VA. personally i think her voice is great, and i like ichijo much more after episode 2:D

i got a question, don't know if it just me, but when i watch the op(the first few seconds with manga images), somehow the images just gives an eye direction towards Eri, well i am a fan of Eri, so it might just be my nature to focus on her..

I haven't read anything on Your-Mom releases for School Rumble, but from what I have heard from their other releases is that they are pretty bad, they make shit up in their translations making them like a parody... I haven't watched it myself, so I can't really tell...

Anyways, just watched the first episode... Awesome as always. Liked the Harima and Yakumo pairing, I hope they really get together in the future. Next episode should be great, looks like the school is going to war Battle Royale style.

To others that have seen WannabeFansub's release, is the song halfway through done by the W-F staff? There was a message prior to the song but I'm not totally sure if that's just for editing or what not. The song was English so my guess is that some girl on the W-F staff sang it.

Another fabulous episode of School Rumble :) The creativity of this was executed so damn well.

- when Harima first appeared in this episode, did it remind anyone of the terminator, haha
- the shootout between Harima and Hanai was so damn good. One of the best action scenes I have seen in anime (and this is a romance-comedy!)

This new season starts with some really sweet eps..As stated above, the action sequences are done really well, and rival those of pure action series.. I can only hope that this is just a taste of things to come :)

Another excellent episode. This series has been very impressive so far and let's hope it stays that way for the rest of it :)

Edit: Whilst I think the previous episodes were better than this, it was still a very good episode. Of course nothing less could be expected of this series.

And for some reason it was funny to hear Renton Thurston and Karin Maaka's voice actors at the end, as young siblings of the regular cast. Neither of them have great many roles, Yuko Sanpei (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=22150) (Renton) some more, but especially Sayuri Yahagi (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=48719) (Karin) is a voice actress you can't help but recognize immediately. It took me much longer to figure out the other was Renton's seiyuu, despite the fact it sounded so awfully familiar.

I enjoyed this eps. The obvious use of a Hostess Club (that Hanai attempted to turn into a Host club at the end of the day) was pretty funny, and we got to see more of the girls of 2-C who's names I will never learn. I especially liked the parody (of some movie I can't remember) where Tenma needs encouragement because she can't get any customers. No one else could have played the Mama of that establishment like Akira.

Harima-Yakumo earned a few more points in this eps, and from the preview it seems like Eri and Yakumo will have a small battle of their own during the play, most likely set up on purpose by Akira.

If I'm not mistaken, the part where Harima is accused for trying to 'buy' the nurse (forgot her name) is a parody of Samurai Champloo, where Jun is in exactly the same situation (except the backstabbing part form the woman :P) Then again.. this might just be a stereotype of guy-likes-a-whore-and-tries-to-buy-her... but when I saw that, it immediately made me think of Champloo..

This main portion of this show was certainly pretty crazy with the play. Even if it was more embarrassment than direct humour. But I have to say the play did end up having just a slightly incoherent plot. And especially conclusion. During the party I was already wondering where Harima is, but then the last seconds before the credits answered that in the funniest way possible.

All in all this wasn't the greatest of the episodes, but it did continue the excellence of the series in general.

For one, this eps put Yakumo and Eri in direct confrontation for Harima, whether either one of them meant for it to go that way. Eri can try to pass it off all she wants, she's got it bad for Harima.

Gotta love Akira fixing the play as she went along, rewriting it so she can force Eri to kiss Harima, and stealing it anyway, and the dumb class president from 2-D thinking it was the greatest play ever.

But I don't remember where the guy dancing with Mikoto was from. I can't remember where he was before in this series.

I thought this eps might end up a little slow after all the insanity of the school fesitval, but once again I'm happy to be wrong.

The variation on the Iron Chef music was great, as were the Princess Mononoke allusions.

Aye. Indeed this series doesn't cut any corners even if Imadori does. The first part was better in my opinion, and the Princess Mononoke reference was great. The latter half of the episode was somewhat fragmented obviously, and didn't actually have that much humour. I wonder if they are going to use some of those part time jobs later on more extensively. The fast food restaurant we have of course seen before, and the cafe, but not the others, I think. Well, actually the others didn't seem so permanent or permanently interesting...

A fine episode once again.

This episode didn't have much of the old school rumble style misunderstanding humour, but it was certainly filled with humour of other kind. Even though I felt it was a bit calmer and serious than many of the other episodes. Perhaps because the events were quite realistic, and it was just the beginning part of a longer arc.

As a parody of any sports drama, this eps was perfect. From Ane-san's horribly harsh and horrible in the normal definition coaching method, to the undersized rookie with a heart of gold and a crush on the talented guy, the idiotic love triangles that go with that, and Tenma's complete and utter failure to suceed (the swing set parts had me falling out of my chair).

don't know of anybody else subbing the series at the moment. your-mom isn't terrible although grammar mistakes are somewhat common throughout. the quality is pretty good, so it's better than nothing.

There's this group called Your-Dad. It sounds almost like a joke, but they are a legitimate group and they are probably the worst fansubbers in history. I've never watched their releases but have read some reviews for that group. It's almost comical.

Your-Mom subs are actually quite decent in translation and video quality. Unless you're archiving your anime, I think it's perfectly fine to watch them. I've been watching them this whole season and they're up to ep 16 right now.

Yes, the name threw me off too but the subs are easy to understand, the translation is ok, and the video quality is also fine. And, they are up to episode 16. There is some flexibility with DVD subtitle tracks.
It would take a better mind than mine to read through and understand the standards of the format, but there are a few uses beyond simple text that I have seen.
Excel Saga has what I affectionately call the "Doggies" which are a small picture of Menchi with a speech bubble, which effectively provided the equivalent to the notes we all appreciate in fansubs.
In some movie (I forget which), there was a subtitle track of the storyboards for the current scene, which allowed you to compare the storyboards to the finished cut, if you liked that sort of thing.
End of Eva (or Death and Rebirth) and The Matrix demonstrated interactive subtitles (white rabbit in the matrix). Although I think that these were based on the menu standards.

What I'm trying to say is that I think that, although DVDs as they stand can't look like fansubs, they could try if they wanted to)

Quite an episode, the 19th one. Quite different compared to all the earlier ones, I agree with that statement. And it was a brilliant one at that. The whole sequence of Harima riding the plate was pretty crazy and visually superb. I didn't expect them to get a chance to use the traditional scifi anime scene of multiple missiles being launched, but it seems it's no good to underestimate the SR script writers.

The manga isn't done... not even close, at least looking at the current situation... so we can safely bet there's going to be a 3rd season; maybe that'll be the last, but it'll still be a little rushed.

The setup for the final ep really makes you think it'll be the last ep..but then again, there are só many things that are unfinished right now that it's impossible to properly finish.
I'm sure that next ep will have a little development(Tenma finding out who Harima is or something), but nothing too much so that they can easily go on with a 3rd series.

And who was actually surprised by the last thing of this episode? It already was too obvious to actually be a surpise :P

All we can do now is hope that a 3rd season will really come..it won't be the first series that stops way before the manga stops..

I don't honestly know how this series could come to a complete conclusion. There are so many people with so many overlapping and intertwining interests and desires. Of course if the last ep focused solely on Harima and the Tsukamoto sisters, then some conclusion could be reached. But that would leave so many people out. No way they could handle all those open issues with all the characters in just one final ep.

Maybe they're doing something similar to what they did with the first season. If I remember correctly, they had an enormous delay between ep 21 and 22+. Maybe they're going to slowly release the rest of the series now that Y-M already subbed the whole thing and the studio probably doesn't care anymore.

I'm not sure when they were contacted by the company to stop subbing. However as you can see, there were enormous delays past episode 22. Maybe that was when the warning was issued? Keep in mind, during the first season SHRIMPS finished the rest of the series long before WF. Maybe we're seeing the same thing over again but with Y-M?

Staying off the radar would certainly seem like a prudent decision for WF, but the cons of that are that only the most well-informed of their fanbase would be able to pick up their works. My question is why hasn't YM been contacted by the licensors yet? Is it because they aren't too well-known yet? Or is it simply because the licensors have already lost interest?

On another note: yesterday a torrent got out with WF eps 13-16.. I know it was april fools and all, but today another torrent came out claiming to be 'the real deal'. Did anyone download it and can tell if it really IS the real deal?
Since WF offficially dropped SR2T, the site doesn't say anything about it, but in the newspost from yesterday there was some speculation.

Since my connection pretty much sucks ATM I don't want to waste my time and speed downloading a possible joke.

It probably was, but did you check by any chance... I'm interested myself if they're real, but I don't think I'll waste my time just to check if something is real or not.

Myself am downloading the Nuke versions that are coming up... don't know how good they are but I'm quite positive that they're better than the Your-Mom versions.

Kodansha will bundle School Rumble: Third Term DVDs with the limited first editions of the 21st and 22nd Japanese volumes of Jin Kobayashi's original school comedy manga. The 21st volume goes on sale on July 17. (The 20th volume, without a DVD, goes on sale on March 17.) The new project will reunite director Shinji Takamatsu, series script editor Hiroko Tokita, character designer and animation director Hajime Watanabe, and the animators at Studio Comet; all of them worked on the first two anime series.

Funimation has been releasing the first two anime series on DVD in North America, and Del Rey has been releasing the the manga series in North America.

What do you guys make of this? That this will only be a couple of episodes OVA? Or am I reading it wrong?

I didn't watch the whole episode, only a few minutes, but it does look legit. Feel free to download it and check for yourself with some degree of certainty that this is real.

Hmmm does WF still release this stuff? (second semester of course)
or does anybody seed it? I've serious problems with finding a torrent which has at least 1(!) seed for the WF-realeases

the same goes for Y-M torrent... (well ok ~40 kbs isn't too bad if it will stay at this level)

but what is with wannabee fansubs? imho they did a good job with season 1... but I can't find a seeded torrent anymore, not even on their side, any suggestions?

btw this series is awesome ^^ Harima is my favorite character and I hope he and eri will come together in the end... Last time I laughed *that* much was when i watched goldenboy.

Ya I tried those out alrdy, a few do actually work (~5-10kb/s), but a few don't move an inch and it says "seeds: 0(0)" guess I'll have to wait for someone to start seeding this again

(the most annoying thing is btw that OVA 02 is stuck @ 99% *geee...*)

and I have a question

In the last episode of season 1 there was a preview to another episode where they "battle out" what they will play @ the school festival... is this episode a special? or some episode from season 2?

Because the first OVA 01 had nothing to do with it.
It looked kinda real and somewhere on myvideo.com there was "school rumble episode 27" or something like that, haven't looked much into that episode because I didn't want to spoil to much... Harima looked like one of the 3 samurais (that TV show Tenma likes so much)

The Y-M torrent got some new seeds overnight (or other people finished downloading it and seed it now) because I'm downloading with ~100-250 kb now which is obviously very good...
