"Shiratori Ryuji wants to become a picture book writer, and he moves to an apartment, Narutaki-So, in order to go to an art school in Tokyo. Narutaki-so is an old Japanese style one-story house which doesnt fit in urban scenery. It is owned by the cousin of his mother, and the manager of the apartment is Aoba Kozue. She is his second cousin, and they met with each other when they were children although he doesnt remember her much. She is in the second grader of a high school attached to Aoba Junior Collage.

There are five people living in Narutaki-So. First, Chanohata Kotomi is living in the room #1. She is a best friend of Kozue. Then, the resident of the room #3 is Momono Megumi. She is a kind of person who goes her own way. In the room #5, Kurosaki Sayoko and her daughter Asami are living. Asami is in the first grade of a junior high. Finally, in the room #6, Haibara Yukio is living with his puppet, Johnny.

They are all characteristic and eccentric persons. However, in fact, the most eccentric person is Kozue. She has a secret; when she is shocked at something, she changes her personality. Not knowing this, Ryuji moves to Narutaki-So to realize his dream. What kind of a new life will be waiting for him?"

One term to describe this series would be high quality. I watched it all months ago, and I had absolutely nothing to complain about. The artwork is very good, as well as voice acting, not to mention the plot and characters. There are certainly plenty of real surprises, as well. A very interesting series altogether, and also one of those series that did keep me awake with the old "just one more episode" method...

Anybody who likes this sort of shows will most likely like this a lot.

I was a fervent follower of Mahoraba. Kozue is by far the best character with all her multiple personalities, and her seiyuu does all of them uniquely and she's so cute. If you haven't already seen it, I highly recommend it.

Sayoko is my other favorite character. I don't know why, but something about her definitely amuses me the most. Despite how incredibly lazy she is, she cares for Asami quite a great deal even though she is absolutely unskilled and useless.

If you enjoyed the series, be sure to look up the manga, I think all but the last volume is released. There are certain things they had to leave out of the series for censorship issues, but generally the storyline is the same. More liberal use of underage drinking, and a certain characteristic of Sayoko that they had to leave out. It's even better when you realize how much she's supposed to resemble Sadako of the Ring. As far as I know, the ending is slightly different, but both work perfectly, with the manga tying up loose ends better, just because it has more time to allow for that. I really liked the 4 panel shorts in the series, which are also featured in most mangas as omakes. Mahoraba uses them interjectedly and they only make the series funnier.

Kozue's alternate personalities and Sayoko are my favorite characters also...

It was really a fun series, I watched it little by little... could never watch more than a couple of episodes a day since this is usually not the type of anime I watched... But it was worth it, i liked the ending also... I'll get the manga later on but simply to read how they ended it there...

@dark_maginn... Do you really check out all the series you say you are gonna check out? Everytime I post a thread you say the same thing... so I'm wondering lol...

Yeah, Kozue's alternate personalities were certainly the catch of this series, and an absolutely wonderful one. Quite an idea and an excellent execution as well.

Don't know about you guys, but the best personality was Saki...

I was hoping she would get into a fight with someone and kick some ass, sadly she never had the chance...

The Club President is also awesome, quite the masochist...

Of course Saki-chan is the best of the personalities. She seems to have been given the most character development, and she's just funny. Not annoying like Chiyuri. I know a lot of people liked Nanako the best, but Saki is the most divergent from Kozue's personality.

In the manga however, Chiyuri has a really endearing part with Shiratori, which does redeem her character a little bit, but Saki-chan will always be the best.
