I watched this episode and it seems this is not in the manga, (but the one with Urd is). But nonetheless it is a great episode! Hope they hurry up with the 2nd season.

It was a fine and funny episode. Skuld falling for Keiichi was somewhat natural. He's the only adult male she's regularly in contact, and he's a decent and friendly fellow. I guess this episode made Skuld realise better why Belldandy is with him. It has been a while since I watched the actual series, but isn't Skuld's only real reason to hinder the relationship the fact she fears she will lose her oneesan?

Keiichi was surprisingly OK with the idea when the photographer ordered the kissing scene. Is it so that he can't kiss Belldandy, because he really loves her, and that makes him nervous? He could pretend to kiss Skuld because it wouldn't have meant anything deeper. So, it's not really the idea of kissing, but what's behind it.

Didn't something like that already happen in the first season (it has been too long and too many shows ago that I watched it)? Well, if it didn't, it certainly was expected. I hope it won't take too many episodes, as probably there would be better and less obvious ideas for plots around. Still, it's probably highly bothersome for the goddesses' employer that Keiichi has drawn a whole bunch of good employees away from their regular posts (although I don't know why they all couldn't still do their jobs, while still living at Keiichi's place. You know, work during the normal office hours like regular people).

But damn Inoue Kikuko will always be Belldandy in my mind. She has a long list of different kinds of jobs in her resume, but as far as I'm concerned, she associates as Belldandy first and foremost.

TV 2 will start on April 6, if not mistaken. As to when will it be subbed, no one knows, so don't ask.

Editorial Vid (a mexican comic publisher) is publishing AMG manga volumes in spanish as soon as they come out in Japan. So far we are on manga 31, and the story... stays the same always.

So, widescreen means practically the series would start two week later, but that's it, in the end. Widescreen is always nicer when you watch it on TV (or for those who have widescreen monitors for their computer systems, as well). But whatever it ends up being, I won't be complaining.

Aside from the missing kiss, I would like to see if Keiichi kept the cool badboy gear he got at the end of the first season...

Well if it is widescreen, I would assume that it is infact hd. And if the widescreen is hd, then I'd rather them go with it anyway...

What licensed means is that an American company has bought the rights to distribute said product. Basically it means they hold the power to lawfully go after and stop fansubbers since they distribute the product and somewhere along the line the potential to make a profit is introduced.. However most companies that bought the license as in the case of AMG Tv, which is Media Blasters, rarely go out of their way to stop fan subbing of that product. It's still within their legal boundries though. But when anime's are licensed some fansub groups drop the anime completey as to avoid legal conflict.

I'm sorry, but I understand the whole "ooh will they kiss, will they kiss?" tension fun, but honestly, I think Keiichi is the biggest loser ever because he still freaks out when Belldandy hugs him and they've been together for a year. Guess I'm just like Urd in that sense, heh. I mean, a kiss would be nice, but it's not necessary, but geez, you think he'd relax a little more by now...kinda why I liked the OVA better just because Keiichi was a tad more outgoing. Thought he was cuter that way.

The bagpipes still make me chuckle, though I do like the uniqueness of them.

Well to answer a question that was brought up earlier about why K1 still acts weird when Bell hugs him and stuff. Remember that Bell is the Daughter of the Almighty, and if he does something to her. He could put the whole world and risk. I mean consider how kind K1 really is. I think if you think about that then you can kind of understand. If you also pay really close you that it is never K1 that starts anything with Bell. So if you think about it, it really makes a lot of since.

Belldandy has been giving the permission to stay on Earth with Keiichi a couple of times, which is pretty much the ultimate signal that the old man upstairs doesn't disapprove of what's going on. Under those circumstances Keiichi should get the message and proceed forward before it's too late. He might be afraid Belldandy will be taken away one day, but seriously he's already so much in love that I doubt he would miss her any less even if they deepened their relationship. Quite the contrary: If Belldandy was suddenly taken away now, what manner of regrets would he have that he never really showed his affection?

I've noticed in the the second season that it's Belldandy, and not K1, who's taking the initiative to further their relationship.


It's Bell who offers her hand to K1 in ep. 1, while earlier, he's agonizing why he doesn't have the nerve to hold her hand.

It's Bell who kisses him ( on the cheek of course! ) for the first time in episode 3.


I mean, if it wasn't for Belldandy, they'd still be in the "blushing" phase of their relationship.

All around, it's a fun show to watch, and I can see why it's considered a fan favorite.
To be honest, I haven't read the manga because I guess I want to be surprised by what's going to happen next in the series. After the show makes it's run, hopefully after a long run, I'll probably pick up the manga. I have been tempted though, to buy and read it.

It has also been announced by the two teams that they're going to be sticking with widescreen only from now on.

Why we're going to widescreen only?

1. Widescreen is better, any otaku would want WS over FS

2. Fullscreen raws have been getting progressively worse to the point that they can't be cleaned up enough for Aone's standards. Widescreens are based off digital capture instead of analog. Compare the WS and FS releases. You'll see a significant difference in video quality.

It is because widescreen episode 4 was released earlier today or yesterday. If you mean a regular version of episode 5, then it isn't coming out. AonE switched to the widescreen version to give better quality, and so had to play catch-up with themselves. Everything should be back on track now though, hopefully.

Well the system the was made only grants genuine wishes since K1's wish came from his hurt then it was granted there wasn't much that could be done about, remember even Bell was surprised when the wish was excepted. And even when they were trying to redo the wish over the phone they couldn't get because the necessary feelings weren't there. Besides I you have to really think about what kind of person K1 really is. He shy even though he has been living with for almost a year.

Not surprisingly the Peorth craziness continued just as unabashedly and relentlessly as it started in the previous episode. And Keiichi is always the one to suffer the most as a consequence (a man's part is not an easy one...). I am, however, wondering what it is exactly that Belldandy can't do, and why. Provide Keiichi with upskirts?

8 episodes, and no sign of the badass villain's gear Keiichi inherited at the end of the first season. I wonder if he really dumbed it. Or perhaps he just haven't got an opportunity to wear it... I know if I had such an outfit and a house full of goddesses using strange clothes, I wouldn't think twice of joining the crowd... Well, Belldandy seems to use more normal clothes, but being a goddess I bet she does that only because Keiichi never wears that cool garb.

Oddly enough, I don't think you're far off ;) . After all, Peorth is obviously a very sexual creature and is trying to fullfill Keiichi's sexual desires, and that's what Belldandy can't do yet. The manga goes a little more in depth and makes it more obvious about what's going on.

As for the episode, haha, it's got that great AMG comedy in it. Best part for me was when Urd started to fall for Keichi, but quickly turned away, hahaha.

I'm with you complich8, I'm finding that this season is getting repetitive with the whole "Because you're with me, my wish is fulfilled" ending speeches Keiichi makes just about every episode.

I love the show though, don't get me wrong, and I read the manga too so I know what should be happening vs. what is happening in the show. Either way this episode wasn't bad by any means. Peorth's arrival has definitely made this season a lot more enjoyable.

Certainly, more eps like the last two would be favorable, minus the overabundance of the afformentioned speeches.

@Whitefang1987: You shouldn't ask about why an episode is taking a while to be released as it is EXTREMELY rude to ask that question. Any fansub has the right to release whatever episode whenever they want. They're even allowed to release episodes once every 2 months if they wanted to and there would be nothing you could do about it. Sit back and be patient just like the rest of us. Of course, you could watch other anime while you're waiting for AMG (there's a BIG list of anime in the General Anime section).

oh i found out something .. after watching the OVAs. Belldandy and Keichi were childhood friends o_o;; isnt that sweet :) and during that episode where he gets all those part time jobs to get that ring :D, it was a promise he made to her when he was a little boy :eek: and in the OVA God appears as a person O_O; but u dont really see his face much.

just another thing the story with the OVA and that the story is a bit different form the regular story that we see now. although the series came from the manga the order of events in the story is mixed. one event i cant wait for, when keichi's parents come to visit

Ok, so episode 10 is really good even though it makes Keichii out to be a little more indecisive than the manga. Either way, the episode gives something the manga doesn't. I was wondering why Belldandy's saying "I love you" in this episode was so different than when she had said it in previous episodes, and listening to the actual Japanese, in episode 10, she says something like "Watashi wa Keichii-san wo aishithe imasu," as opposed to just "Keiichi-san daisuki." I had to go look up the difference and this is what I found:

"Well, "daisukidesu" and "aishiteru" are pretty similar expressions and sometimes they mean the same feeling but we can say the first one for suggesting almost everything (not only for people but inanimate things as well) and it sounds much colloquial. It's like... you know "I love you(it) bunches!" or something.
"aishiteru", this phrase is not that frequently used I suppose, I mean Japanese people take it kinda too serious to mention. So if you're now saying some lady said to you "aishiteru", it definitely meant she loved you seriously. You know not as a good buddy or anything.
If you do too, you can answer like "watashi (boku) mo aishiteimasu."=I love you too."

That's not something you can get from a translation of the manga. Guess I need to learn Japanese so I get all the stuff I miss in the translations. :-)

For some reason I liked this episode a lot. First of all, this continues the series of episodes that have someone else than Keiichi or Belldandy as the focus, continuing the story of Skuld. Now, despite the fact I already liked the previous episode, I haven't traditionally regarded Skuld as my favorite character in this series. She has been quite annoying most of the time with the weird machines and lack of goddess powers. Well, the main plot of this episode was to waken the dormant powers in her. And that indeed instantly made her a better character in my eyes, plus the whole process was finely scripted. Also the ending of the episode was quite interesting.

Well, it seemed to be a 3 eps arc (at least), episode 17 being the third. While 15 and 16 were a bit too transparent and cliched even for this series, episode 17 actually more than made up for that. Episode 17 was very mild, that's true, but considering this series as a whole it was just consistence. And so despite the tame atmosphere and conduct it nicely portrayed the veiled evilness of the devil and the old truth about deals with the devil. Naturally in this series evil can't win, but it was a good try finely executed.

After seeing this 17th episode from season 2 I felt I had to sign up and throw some words in here.

First I'd like to thanks from the bottom of my heart [AonE-AnY] for the job they do in giving us a bit of hope, joy, kindness and goddess magic through the subbing and encoding of this series.
I'm not a particurlarly expressive kind of guy, but I'm always truly touched, each time I see an episode of this series... and even though japanese seemsto ring right in my ears, I would never be able to understand it without the sub-titles... even though they're not in my native language (french).
So again, thank you so much.

Ah! My Goddess?
It's a very long story. I was a student, I had been lonely for a long time. I felt a bit lost in my life, probably feeling the first waves of depression that would happen almost 10 years later.
And a friend of mine gave me a picture CD. I spent the night browsing through these pics, on a very very slow comp. And then I found this pic, or it found me?

I was I guess touched by Heaven, this pic was so peaceful, was doing so much good to me. I could not believe it. I kept looking at it for hours, it was iconic to me. All that I was yearning for in that period of my life.
It's only years after I was able to know where it came from, I wasn't a manga type of person, and I'm not to date. I can't read those, it's not my thing.
And it's only last year I heard of the S1 of Ah! My Goddess.
It was quite a deal for me, should I watch it or not? Will it break my dreams, what i had fantasized about for so many years?
Well it didn't and I'm so pleased to be so lucky to watch those. From the very first pic introducing me to AMG, to the last ep I just saw, everything just quenches my desires for a peaceful and joyful life.
Not that my life is hard, unjoyful or anything, but what I feel each timeI enter the AMG world, I don't want to lose.
Enough for the presentation ;)

So for that 17th Ep

Well, I think it's a very clever one. It just gives more balance to the whole arc of the series I guess.
Joyfullness is like a cake, it there's only sugar, it's just bad tasting. Add just a pinch of salt, and you give balance.
To me AMG is a bit like that, and it seems most of popular series are well balance between good and evil. Good movies need a very plausible vilain, to enhance the good sides of the hero, a king of contrast you shall say.

And in that ep, Hild is this vilain we need to have balance. I don't know if you felt it, but the drama was well placed. Music, colors, everything was fine to understand Hild. The way she was bullying Skuld, and trying to lure K1... Only two scenes were maybe weaker, in that she seemed a bit to teenager looking.
But I have to say that I like her very much for what she is.

I guess for the first time, I'll have to rewatch this ep, because I want it to be printed in my brain in a way I enjoy even more the brighter eps.

Just finished the AIR TV series.
Well I'm quite puzzled with this, not what I expected in a thread dedicated to AMG ;)
I guess I've finaly been able to rebuild the all arc of this series, cause it's quite difficult to understand, very tricky.. or just badly writen?

The thing is that I only enjoyed the story when it was in ancient times, which is only a few eps...

I guess that key words related to AMG were Hane, Tsubasa, Kami...

Then, I can recomend you "Ayakashi : Japanese Classic Horror show".
You have in that series 3 kabukis, the second one is related to the keywords I gave.

This series hasn't had anything really evil except for the end of the first season, but still if she's some sort of Demon Lord, she would be better as a character of few appearances, but behind many devious plots. When she takes part in goofy plots like in this episode, you can't anymore use her convincinly in any deeper, more wicked and malicious plots without a watered down effect.

Looks to me like there really is no EVIL in the Ah! My Goddess world. Just naughty. :rolleyes:

Who knows what is really awaiting us?
I doubt it, but this could be some king of trap for us viewers... so that we feel at ease with Hild and think we know her and of no menace...

About that episode 18 i was really shocked when i saw the preview before that i thought Belldandy really did something out of hand, but then when i saw the ep its way too different XD.

However, it's not at all true that a character must be inherently good to have depth. In fact, anime in general is filled by such characters. Truly complicately evil characters are much more rare. Evil villain are often left more shallow than good characters or those superficially evil ones that can be "cured".

oh goodness no, i didn't mean it that way. i don't think that marller has character depth just because she's not evil. i just think it's amusing that she's been trying so hard for all this time to do the goddesses in because of her job description, when in fact she gets along rather well with them. i wasn't making any statements about depth and goodness in general, just about marller's character. if a character was really evil but still complicated i'd still think they had depth. :)

This episode was rather disappointing for me. I was hoping for Marller to actually kick some ass after being ordered by Hild, especially after hearing that she is a high-class demon. Plus, the whole sucking-everybody-into-the-pot thing was just plain weird.

I somehow expected Keiichi to at least kiss Belldandy with such a splendid opportunity offered. Well, it was a decent episode anyway. Although I was thinking right from the beginning that since the floor is there, it would allow them to escape any time. I guess that means I would be inherently qualified to handle a space expanding device.

As I said before, we have the typical "The super hero looses powers temporalily" type of arc.

This is important to emphasize the fact that those two care for each other and Bell's Powers have nothing to do with that. It was to me the core subject of this ep.

And yes they didn"t kiss, but they mimicked the "perfect" couple. Not so perfect because Bell is a submissive wife at the orders of her husband :D In that we typically fall in the "Bewitched" like series. Too much females, with great powers, and a looser rules them all :D

Next I think, she'll have to overcome danger without her power, to show she's is trully strong, and that her qualities are not just based on her powers. K1 will probably be of great help.

They may kiss before the end of the season, or close. K1 already felt he missed a good occasion...
To me that kiss will be the key to a solution saving them from great danger, in a very flashy, colorfull and filled with magic scene... a bit like the end of the "5th element" :D

Aye. Looks like this season is only 22 episodes, and the last ep aired in the middle of September.

This #21 was actually a pretty nice episode. A solid plot and good execution. A lot more exciting than most of the episodes of this season. And the "bad" deeds Belldandy was doing as a demon were bloody hilarious! Still, I think Keiichi should have donned his old villain's gear so that Belldandy the Demon would have felt more at home...

Well, I'm sad the idea was so poorly treated.

But it was quite fun to think of Bell as a demon.

I would have liked to see Marler kicking K1's ass when he scoldes her... After all she's a demon and he's human.

What is interresting though, is that we learn how in the AMG world good and evil are chosen.

We had this with Marler when we learnt that she shared her childhood with Urd and Urd chosed to be a Goddess whereas Marler chosed Demon.

I wonder which depth they'll give to that background.

Who knows... Marller isn't a very succesful demon, herself, after all. Whilst turning Belldandy into a demon wouldn't probably make her feel guilty as such, the fact Keiichi (and the others) might suffer so much as a consequence could have been a surprise to her. We have had a couple of episodes where Marller had good times with Keiichi and his host of goddesses, so she might have come to realise collateral damage isn't what she would like most.

Good episode, overall, but I just hate how it just ended like that. In the 1st season, they at least kissed (unless I'm remembering wrong), but they didn't even do that in the entire 2nd season.
Well, it's almost a guarantee for another season... unless they pull a fast one on us.

I've seen that last ep and I hope the series won't finish there...

Because it's not an end, and I guess they can't end it in the OVA's... For season 1 the bonus eps were side stories for Urd and the brat... nothing that add anything to the arc of the series... So I guess that will be the same.

That would be sad to see the series stop now.

Even more when you see K1 and Bell in their race sidecar, I have to say this scene was kinda hot and beautiful... and showed us a more advanced relationship... or at least gave hints about it.

So I would be quite disapointed to see it finish now... without filling the blanks between now and that sidecar scene (even though this was in a ova not directly related to the TV series)

Today I just watch all of them, well it's quite fun.

Plus it gives some hints and features material used in the main TV series.
