Plot Summary: In the 21st century, a family of vampires settled down on the grounds of Japan and lived a modest life whilst sucking on the blood of humans discreetly. Instead, she overproduces blood to the extent that she transfuses the excess into her victims, hence increasing their blood levels. From experiece, I would say a.f.k.

But I haven't seen any of the releases for this series...

Suck was decent enough, some people said there was a missing space somewhere and possibly a missing period. I didn't notice either of those, but their font is thin yellow, like licensed dvd subs, which I'm not very fond of. The encode was good, and the translation seemed fairly solid. My standards aren't really as high as some (with notable exceptions, mostly certain groups that everyone hates). All of the dialogue made perfect sense, and maybe it wasn't dead on, but since translations are subjective anyway, its really not an issue, as long as it flows well and makes sense. Both versions have that.

I'd recommend a.f.k. from experience with their subs in the past, which are excellent quality, but I had no really problems beyond font preference (which I can deal with).

If you have higher standards, go with a.f.k. they have a more archivable version. If you don't really care, go with either.

Based on this first episode, I will certainly keep watching this. Characters seen so far were strong (interesting) enough, one-sided enough, and voice actors pleasant enough. And like aznroyale said, humour was quite good indeed. Obviously this felt quite different, quite light, compared to Moon Phase, which was my sole anime vampire experience before this, but Karin has its own merits, and I'm not really inclined to compare it to anything.

AFK sub was good. No complaints whatsoever about their work.

Haha, this is a VERY interesting anime. The humour was really good and the characters are all interesting in their own ways. Gotta love the ending of the episode, haha, quite a "nosebleed".

There is one thing, though, that I'm not entirely sure (or it didn't catch my attention if it was told): Does Karin inject blood into her victims or still draw blood like a real vampire? Because if she all the time produces extra blood, why would she suck more into her system? Or is she that much a vampire, nevertheless?

EDIT: aznroyale seems to have said she gets rid of the extra when biting. But how would that then explain she also alleviates problems like the normal vampires in this series seem to do? Is it just the act of biting, and not drawing anything? Or does she inject some happiness, not draw unhappiness away...

I think she sucks blood, but doesn't consume it as normal vampires do, so she overflows from time to time...

She definitely injects blood. It fufills the "unvampire" concept, injecting instead of sucking blood. She has to put that excess blood somewhere, and it happens to be into her victims. Sure, its a little unsanitary, but look at the effect it had on Usui's mother.

Her family are all normal vampires. She's said a few times that she was the freak of the family. The affect of the sucking/injection are the same though.

Do you think Karin will eventually bite Kenta, as well? Even if I risk appearing weird, but I thought and felt the moments in Moon Phase when Kohei allowed Hazuki to bite himself were just somehow very touching. Of course this is a different kind of series, so I don't know if it matters that much.

Things proceeded a bit faster than I expected. One very good thing about this series is that the characters aren't nearly as simple or predictable as they could have been. Especially what comes to the vampires. Not very easy to see beforehand what they will do.

And damn those Kenta's eyes... Even that jerk was scared away with one glance...

Yes, another great episode indeed. Somehow the characters are very succesful and fitting in this series.

A good, ordinary episode. Nothing really remarkable happened. Karin and Kenta's relationship became a little closer, perhaps. And some soy sauce guy entered the country... The preview really didn't make a whole lot of sense, at least with a casual glance...

A very good episode. Not terribly much comedy, but like Darknodin said, it was a turning point, and a much expected one at that. The preview didn't tell terribly much of the next episode, but it will be interesting to see how things will develop. Winner feels all the more unneeded character after this. He didn't have much of a role to begin with, and I doubt they can give him more meaning in the future either.

The fact that Elda doesn't really look that much like Karin makes it funnier. Like when Winner called her a Flat-chested fiend! that or Ren's reaction when he saw her. or the way Anju and Carrera want to seal her or kill her or something. that was a good episode. funny and interesting. Hope Elda becomes a regular character!

He was probably so happy to have been bitten by Ren that he has kept renewing the marks artificially so that they would never disappear.

It's kind of strange that since I watch Anime-Shrine subs, I'm practically a week late with this series. Yet I wouldn't like to download twice each episode, nor switch over to afk... Suckage.

This was a great episode. The focus clearly wasn't on humour, but it was otherwise very good with Karin and Kenta both practically stating their feelings (not that there really were any doubt about those). But it was too bad for Maki. Although it's a wonder in itself that she kept having hope for this long anyway, considering what kind of fool Winner is...

Altogether a fine Christmas episode with a really warm feeling.

Concerning eps 18:
He was probably so happy to have been bitten by Ren that he has kept renewing the marks artificially so that they would never disappear.

A little late on this, but I think I can clear it up.

It was really more of a visual effect. Ren's imagination if you want to say that. His old roommate didn't recognize him at all. This I assume is because of Ren's awakening powers, so he took the liberty to wipe his roommate's memory as well. Notice that they are shown and do not appear after that shot. At the end Anju disregards the whole story as fiction, and convinces Karin that she's too gullible and something like that would never happen to Ren. That shot served to confirm Boogie's story as truth, and reminded Ren of his rather embarrassing first time and past.

just finished episode 20, and i am............completely confused..............wut up with anju?and wut going on with bge?? dead cuz anju is awaken?!?!....oh man i liked bge, he was the funniest character in the series....

Anju knew from the beginning of the series that when she awakened, she would leave Karin alone in the world of the day. So, she pulled herself together to give that horrible speech with the intention to hurt Karin enough that she would realize her family isn't the same and is everything Karin doesn't want to be. To Karin, humans are friends, but to her family, they're just food. Anju bit Maki intentionally, because she already suspected her affinity (envy, as stated in the eps) and noticed Maki's resentment towards Karin. Karin loves Anju deeply, and no matter how much she hurt herself, Anju was going to push Karin in the direction that she has to go to achieve happiness, into Usui's arms.

I'm not sure myself, but most believe that Boogie 'died' because either Anju became an adult, or the thing she did to Karin was so against Anju's nature (which is to love and care for stupid Karin) that she drove him away.

That was a painful speech to listen to, Anju really pulled out all the malice on that one. It was sad and nice at the same time to see how much Anju's words hurt herself as much as Karin.

ugh, Winner. He's such a jackass that just about every viewer hates him because he's annoying and stupid. Why Maki ever found him attractive is well beyond me.

I have watched only the Anime-Shrine subs, but it looks like they have been busy in the real life, as the latest release is almost two weeks old. I guess I'll wait still a bit, and if they can't release a new episode, I'm going to switch to afk.

It isn't so much that a group has finally released an eps. In fact, Karin was not broadcast last week. That was the reason for the delay. Of the groups doing Karin, some of them commented on this on their sites.

Grew bored of waiting for Anime-Shrine releases, so I got 23 & 24 from a.f.k. I have to say, in agreement with Bud, that there were some great moments at the end of the series. Honesly, for a moment, I was thinking this series would get an ending quite unlike the rest of the series (meaning I began to think it'll be an "everybody dies" ending), but of course that would have been quite unfitting. Yet, the end scenes starting already from #23 were quite an odd mix of styles. But that fit this show.

Oh, well, one more great series is now a thing of the past. Such a sad moment, every time.

Finally finished watching Karin. Great series. I love the way how Winner's grandfather got defeated.
