Yes, it's gonna happen. Here's the news from ANN:

The October issue of Neo magazine (A UK Anime magazine) includes an interview with Studio Madhouse's founder, Masao Maruyama. In it he says the studio is working on a Trigun Movie that should be released in a "couple of years". The November issue of Anime Insider also confirms this news.

I'm pretty excited about this, but it really sucks that it will be such a long wait. I can't wait to see this.

So come on people, feel free to express your happiness over this great news, or speculate on what in the world this movie will be about.

(Personally, I'm just happy that Masaya Onosaka will live once again as Vash. Seriously, I'm the guy's biggest fan.)

Vash and the whole party is back ?
If the art quality match Advent Children's no one will complain about this movie.

Eh one more thing ...

Hurray !

Any thoughts on what this movie will cover?

It will either be 1.) a new "filler" story 2.) a recap of the series 3.) a recap of teh series, more closely following the manga

Or something else entirely. I'd much rather it not be the first, as this is probably the only time we'll get more Trigun material, and it'd be great if the movie added more to the story - a la FMA.

amazing news! but i hope they dont make it all crazy art or anything. Trigun wouldn't be the same if they changed the art and animation style.

as for the story, i hope it continues from where the series ended. or maybe go into more detail about vash and knives, and the crew of the space ship

I do hope that's the movie. For some reason I think that the movie will be some sort of alternate version of the series, though I'm hoping for some sort of sequel.

a trigun movie that is freaking awsome...... i think the movie will fill in some of his past and will be a continuation of the series.... seeing that he is reunited with Knives.... which would be awsome.. because he decided to live by his own rules, not just by the no killing rule that he adopted from Rem.

Oh man, I love me some Trigun. The movie was fun, they had Vash and Wolfwood so it was obviously amazing. Though seeing Wolfwood again made me sad remembering how he dies.

So, can any of you that have watched it give some details about the relationship of the movie with the tv series and the manga?

have you seen the tv series? am i gonna be spoiling anything? i haven't read the manga.

It's set during mid-series I guess. Vash is already acquainted with Wolfwood, but wolfwood hasn't died yet (Also wolfwood has his second gun). Pretty sure it's just an original piece, with no relation to either the series or the manga besides the main cast of characters. Just think of it as a 90 minute stand alone ep.

90minutes of awesome to be specific.

what about the two manga chapters by the same name? is that what the movie is based on? should i read the manga first before watching the movie or it doesnt matter?

Just watched it, and it was quite fun. I had a deja vu kinda moment watching the movie, it seemed as if I had seen it before. Don't know if I read the manga counter part or if there was a portion in the tv series that resembled it, or if I'm simply imagining things.

Anyways, nice to see some more Trigun.

I'll have to check this out. It's unfortunate, though, I was always used to the dubbed version.

While we're still at it, is there some Original series in Bluray somewhere ?

No. Funimation planned (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-02-14/funimation-gets-trigun-tv-anime-series) to release the series on blu-ray in the fall of 2010, but it never happened. It was going to be an upscale anyway, since a HD mastering of the series doesn't exist.

Marik, why is the Trigun franchise not squeezed anymore for double dollars ?

I mean, there is a fanbase, there is room for this kind of anime.

Not bad. I kinda feel like Vash was more luck-driven in the movie than he's supposed to be. Generally in the Anime and Manga, Vash used his insane super-human skills to make himself merely seem very lucky.

I'm betting he intentionally moved just enough to block the bullet with the food thing. He just used it as an excuse to make a grand entrance while pretending not the wiser.

That part didn't bother me too much. But being trapped in the sand until Merryl just happened to stumble into it? There's no way he planned that.

The villain was a total BDN clone. At first I thought he WAS him, actually. Not like it'd a bad thing, though.
