The BEST Gundam Series

In my opinion, as much as I love almost all the Gundam series, the best of the best would have to be the Zeta Gundam since it was that series that got me hooked on Gundam in general (Seed would follow in a close 2nd place). However, SEED had me hooked all the way through when I first saw it. It was like a drug (if any of u remember ur similar experience), I needed more and more and more. The action was great, the suspense had me on my seat. The whole series was just done right (except explanations but I didn't care since the series had me wanting more action and suspense). So, Ya, SEED gets my vote!

So yeah, for AU, Seed. After that G, then X, then Wing.

For UC, it's generally believed to be Z, but I haven't watched all of that so I'll say 0079 then War in the pocket. (0080)

I'm going with the original Mobile Suit Gundam series. I believe it's the best because it's where all the others came from. SEED had lots of elements in it that really reminded me of MSG :
(Earth finally developing an MS late into the war along with a Whiteface knockoff, the ArchAngel)
(a civilian happening to stumble upon the Gundam and becoming its pilot because noone else around was qualified)
(that same civilian turning going through all the growing pains of war and turning into one of the best fighters ever, later revealed to be genetically predisposed to be an elite soldier)
(there are desert arcs in both...granted this is a distant connection)
(the Goufs, the Earth developing models off the Gundam/Strike later in the series GMs/Daggers)
(the Whiteface/ArchAngel being almost totally on its own for numerous episodes)
(a masked villain)

SEED was great because the animation really brought alot of excitement and the battles and character development were engrossing, but I'll give the credit where it's due, to the originator of the whole series.

After MSG I'd put Seed, then Zeta, then Wing (got me into anime in general), then G. Also thought 8th MS Team was great, tho not a full series IMO

0080 is amazing, may be even better than Zeta. It had a diffrent feel to it than other gundam shows you got to follow a grunt pilot and a kid instead of a flashy spaceship with the latest prototype models. If Zeta has any flaw then it would be all those god damn mobile armors that turns into mobile suits. There are just to many.

SEED. The beginning was just so explosive and the show had me from the very start. Never let me down.

... And SEED had Miguel. Fuck you Kira for killing off such an awesome looking character. He's like the male version of Cagalli ( ... in looks only, of course ), with TM's voice. Can it get better?

For me it was definatly Seed. Above all the rest I simply enjoyed it the most its music, characters, mecha and evverything else just draws you into it and never lets go.

As for the rest I enjoyed Gundam X the most out of the others listes. Given I have not seen Z, C, ZZ or all of Mobile Suit Gundam as Toonami pulled it due to 9/11. Given what I did see of MSG I didn't love mostly due to the wooden voice acting and horrible animation. After X I would have to go with wing... It was mindless but I loved the Gundam and it was the series that first made me want to start looking up the past ones. 0083 and 0090 were both decent but there simply wasn't enough of them to really bring me in. The same thing can be said for the F91 movie and the 8th ms squad. In the bottom of my listings you have G Gundam which frankly I just hated I know it was suppose to be sort of a paredy but everything about it was just bad to me. Finnally on the absolute bottom of the barrel is SD gundam which I couldn't manage to watch 5 minutes of without having the urge to kill someone.

G Gundam wasn't supposed to be a parody. It was just a different take on Gundam, which was the original reason for the AU to exist in the first place.

gundam seed destiny because they started out with a great storyline with the focus only on athrun and the minerva crew and they had shinn, but then after they started giving kira more screentime than athrun and shinn combined(i know i'm exaggerating a little too much but you gotta admit it does feel like it) then it started going downhill for me, but i say it's still a great series and the gundam designs were good, especially saviour and destiny

Well anyway I agree... 95% of the suckage is Relena, the other 5% is that there was no char development what-so-ever unless you read the separate manga, and if you do that it becomes a whole lot better. Still, that's no excuse to not have it in the actual anime...

don't worry pheonix, I like Wing as well. As do many other people that I know, it is a popular anime, just not AMAZING or what not. I wouldn't rate it as the best as my friend would, but it definitely has its moments

yea wing was a pretty good anime the only thing it lacked was emotion, zechs was the only one who in my opinion had great character development, maybe quatre but he's a pussy but wing is still pretty good, it was the second gundam series that i ever watched(seed being the first)

Yes, Wing does have some glaring flaws. The largest is obvious: the female lead is one of the most annoying wenches in anime history (and she even got so much power!) The second, as has been mentioned, is the lack of development for some characters. (I felt that Quatre, Zechs, Dorothy, Treize and Noin all developed while most of the others stayed about the same) There's no excuse for not putting the backgrounds from Episode Zero manga into the show, would have made created a better feel for the characters.

Wing did one thing well, it took time to go into the politics behind war in a way few Gundam series have. The duels between Gundams were pretty cool and I thought the Gundam designs were pretty cool (except for Heavyarms, come on people!) but the battles between major military forces were so one-sided it was like watching Kira vs. an army of Blind One-arm Zakus... The concept of the mobile dolls and the loss of warrior pride in modern war was an excellent theme too

Ah, I would agree, the game is pretty good for a gundam game. The series overall could have been done much better, but I would prefer watching that to the last several episodes of Destiny after 34. There's no doubt that SEED is the best so far. In addition, I wonder what it would take to dethrone SEED as the best....hmmmm

Heavyarms = God in that game. Can keep an enemy away like its no-business and his Fierce Melee hit, smashing the enemy with the actual gatling gun arm does tons of damage and isn't that slow. His throws are also surprisngly fast for a "slow long-range" Gundam...

I'm glad someone brought this up, even though it has nothing to do with what the best Gundam series ever is...

I am not going to even bother arguing for Zeta which is the best by far out of all of the series as the SEED fanboys would easily overpower me.

EDIT: Oh, and all SEED is IMO is a slight step from Wing, it really did nothing new. Oh, and there have been pretty much no good Gundam games so a poll on the best would probably just be which one people had played.

isso, the UC storyline incorporates several different Gundam series.

Start with Mobile Suit Gundam (the original Gundam series) in the year 0079
Then there's Gundam 0080, War in the Pocket. This is a short, only 6 episodes or so, and its actually one of my favorites, but its not that important for the UC storyline IMO.
Next is Gundam 0083. I didn't think this series was all that great, but it does an excellent job setting the scene for
Zeta Gundam. This is the motherloving kickass of all UC series. This series kicks tremendous amounts of ass.
Later they developed a movie that formally concludes the UC timeline called Char's Counterattack.

Technically the last UC Gundam series is F91, but I really don't count it... Couldn't stand the main character and never even finished it.

Also there is another short Gundam series set during the One Year War around the time of the first Gundam series. It's called 8th MS Team and is hella cool.

The only thing you HAVE to watch before Zeta is the original MSG, or atleast the 3 movie version.

As for the UC timeline masamuneehs said I have to correct some things:

Mobile Suit Gundam - good but slow at times
MSG: The 08th Mobile Suit Team - side story, good
MSG 0080: War in the Pocket - side story, more of a drama but still good
MSG 0083: Stardust Memory - semi-side story, decent
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam - dark and fantastic
Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ - first part hard to watch(unless you like stupid stupid humor), but once tomino takes over it becomes very entertaining
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack - concludes the original MSG saga, very good
Mobile Suit Gundam F91 - Originally planned as a series but was then turned into a movie(not that good)
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam - THIS is the last UC series, just as dark as Z, and is my 2nd favourite UC series

EDIT: Voted for Zeta(of course) but SEED is definately a close 2nd.

The White_Base Dual Audio release was recently uploaded on Box. It is probably about the same thing, but it is only 10GB. (Only 10GB :rolli/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Heh, I didn't like the G Gundam series. Yes, I understand it tried to take a different approach to Gundam, but different doesn't always equal better...

First of all, I didn't like most of the designs. Holland Gundam anyone?

Secondly, I didn't care for the DBZ type fighting in it. Super Sayian Gundams? No thank you.

Third, Shining finger? Burning Finger? You might want to see a doctor about that...

Fourth-ly? - Yes, we are going to hold a tournament of fighters to decide who is the ruler of all things and crown the "Gundam of Gundams" And after that, we can play a card game where we our souls on the line! MUAHAHAHAHAHA

Fifth- Devil Gundam. You want to talk about God Moding? Regenerating Gundams?

So, yeah... G Gundam was just too... goofy for me.

As for my favorite? Heh, it's really had to pick a certain series. I didn't care for the original Mobile Suit Gundam until I watched a ton more UC stuff. Still have yet to see Z and ZZ. I loved 8th MS Team, that's probably my favorite UC story besides Char's Counter Attack. Gouf Custom ownz your soul. Gundam Wing, although with it's flaws still holds a place in my heart seeing how it's the very first Gundam series I watched. I also consider SEED and Destiny one series, just different seasons. That's a trend in anime lately, having the second season have another title.

So I guess my list goes:

Char's Counter Attack/Mobile Suit Gundam Movie (it's a box set, three movies in all, it's the entire story of MS Gundam. I highly reconmend it)
8th MS Team
Gundam SEED/Destiny
Gundam Wing

I still want to see Z and ZZ. I have seen 0080 and 0083, and while they were good, nothing memorable like the other series.
