New team fomation

Assume you are new Hokage (or any kage), and you are going send a team to a super-S rank mission. How will you form your team? The following is the rule:

1> Must be 4 people and only 4 ninjas (Akamaru doesn't count), and you could use anyone you want (even from different country, both good and evil)
2> The Ninja you choose must be still alive in series (so you could not choose 1st Hokage or so)
3> Got to have one female ^_^ (actually, every team always has one female)
4> Who is the team Leader
5> What is the team name
6> Tell me why youi choose them

01. Shikamaru _
Tactical genius.

02. Temari _
She's Shikamaru's new partner. They work well together. The tension would provide good television / reading. And, she's a long range combatant with a nice arsenal of moves. [i.e. - Kuchiyose, etc.]

03. Neji _
I'd like to see Rock Lee, but Neji's Byakugan would come in better handy in terms of team capabilities. His hand-to-hand skills are a wonderful addition, as well.

04. Shino _
He's smart, as well. This is like a team of geniuses. His bugs could be used for a plethora of things, including tracking enemies or their target. He's pretty fast and skilled, so the mixture of all these shinobis techniques would compliment each other very well, I think.

1> Tsunade (Leader + Medic)
2> Temari (power offence and defence + brain)
3> Kurenai (illusion technique)
4> Hinata (scout by Byakugan and backup)

III - Rock Lee; short distance fighter
IV - konohamaru; he's the useless part of the team (you gotta have one)
IV serious - I would take Gaara, with the sand attacks he could aid at both the long and short distance fights

2 - Gaara - you have to have someone with his destructive power and he can be long distance as well
3 - Neji - very usefull especially for spying and keeping an eye on sorroundings
4 - Naruto - he can be useful if he uses his transformation and kagebushings to decieve enemys

This would be a lot easier if we new what the mission concisted of.

Leader - Orochimaru - A genius in every sense. He is brilliant, manipulative, deceptive and apathetic. He would know how to lead a team, if only for his personal gain.

Kakashi - Also a genius, knows many techniques. As powerful as he is, he doesn't even really have an ego to speak of to get in the way.

Gaara - Offense and defense, he is almost invincible (with Shukaku)

Tsunade - The most well trained female in the serious so the obvious female choice

Neji - Damn your 4 man rules, there must be Neji.

I tried to stray away from the Jounin or higher ranks as well, considering they normally solo their missions. We saw Kakashi return from a few S-Ranks alone. So, why team up two Sannin, right?

I like this set up a lot, too. I never thought of the great uses of a Medic on the team, which would definitely be covered by Sakura. Plus, her newfound strength would help in a lot of situations.

Gaara would be great. Unlike Neji, as you said, his 'Ultimate' defensive technique could protect the entire team, which would be more than enough time for Shikamaru to come up with a plan for retaliation, or Sakura to heal any minor injuries. Neji would probably be able to use Byakugan to see through the sand (since there's chakra all throughout it), and still scout out their enemies while guarded by the sphere of sand.

For the team I listed above, if there were to be like a Jounin or above guide, I'd choose Kurenai. She's versed in Genjutsu, and those hypnotic eyes of hers allude to the possibility that she's very well adept at Genjutsu. She's not bad to look at, and I think she'd be the best fit. If not Kurenai, then Gai .. Because who doesn't love Gai? His antics would be pure comedy if such a team were to ever be formed.

Another mock team I'd assemble ..

01. Sakura _
After training with the Godaime, I'd expect a bit of that leadership and initiative to become prominent. I'd elect her as the Leader. Her healing abilities, as well as physical strength is a deadly duo. Also, with her exceptional chakra control, she should outlast most and use such time to formulate plans and their next strategic moves.

02. Kankurou _
I use this guy in Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen a lot, and I like his style. The puppets add an automatic extra man or two (depending on how many puppets he's carrying) to the group, and he's quite skilled. Plus, why not? Going with variety here.

03. Kiba _
Our resident tracker. I think him and Kankurou would bump heads a lot and argue, so I did not elect for Kiba to be leader because of that. His companion, Akamaru, also adds another member to the team. They're our close-combatants.

04. Hinata _
Who saw her coming along? She's the secret weapon, though. Her natural shyness and quiet nature will throw off opponents, and cause them to lower their guards, not expecting much from her .. only to be dumbfounded by the awesome might of the Byakugan skills. Nowhere near Neji, but Jyuuken is simply dangerous, when employed by any Hyuuga.

Itachi for his sharingan, power and skills. Kabuto for his healing abilties and he can defend himself well in a crisis. Gaara for defense issues and distance attacking. Kurenai will be a good chaser for the group and can disguise well with her illusions.

Does a team name matter?

Honestly.. if they're formed together to perform a mission a team name is probably a low priority. Also, why 4 people anyway? Teams are made up with as many ninjas as the country can afford to send if the threat is great.

The following Teams are part of a larger Squadron that can be placed under any officer's call. The first 5 teams are the main groups, the last two are full of replacements and nobodies.

Only used younger shinobi, no Kakashi or Kurenai or Gai or anyone much older. Only exception is Kabuto = )

Team 1, Codename: Decoy. Leader: Sakura, maybe she'll die out there, can heal (maybe, one day...)
Jirobou, easy to spot, can take a beating, may be used as sacrifice
Chouji, to absorb a great deal of hits, surprising speed, excellent power, may be used as sacrifice
Naruto, to shout and get every single enemy converging on Team 1, can also take a beating and might hold out longest out of anyone.

Team 2, Codename: Flank Leader: Uchiha Sasuke, vision, speed, power, quick to react
Hyuuga Hinata, fast, light fighter, excellent vision, fulfills one girl per team requirment
Rock Lee, excellent speed, great hand to hand specialist
Sakon + Ukon

Team 3, Codename: Brain Leader: Shikamaru, clearly the smartest and coolest character in Naruto, which other person could possibly be the brain?
Aburame Shino, good at analyzing terrain to gain advantage, bugs can get into position easily, used to monitor other teams' status
Temari, good ranged attacker, pretty smart, keeps Shikamaru happy with her BJs
Dosu, I always liked that guy...

Tayuya, fills female on each team requirement, can summon those fucking giant freaks with flute
