One Piece in Japan and One Piece in the US are two different things. Go to K-F and download the episodes, then you can comment on it being a kiddy show or not.

Major is alittle like Hajime No Ippo if you have watch it.

Its about baseball and alot good drama in it which makes it a very rare sports anime.

Stick with Rahxephon, it gets really good and I was lost in the begining too. By the end, you'll have a much better picture of what is taking place...you'll probably want to go back and re-watch it to pic up all the missed story elements. However, if you are just looking for a mecha anime, Rahxephon can't really supplant GSD but IMO I think that overall it was beter than GSD in other catagories (i.e. character development and story). Also, if you are just looking to 'fill the void' many of the posts above have some good suggestions. Obviously, the reoccuring titles would be a good starting point (e.g. Blood + did afterall replace GSD's timeslot and One Piece has started to creep up my list). Good luck.

While I'm waiting for eps, I'm watching Cowboy Bebop. I thought it'd be good from what I've heard. I heard wrong apparently. It's ok, but it's more on the mediocre side. I need something else. Any recommendations? What's black cat? Everyone here is watching it, it seems.

I'm only watching Bleach and Naruto right now, though I'm thinking of dropping Naruto for the time being.

@V: too bad you're not enjoying Cowboy Bebop. What ep are you up to? Samurai Champloo is very good, so if you haven't checked it out you should. As for series. I am pretty new to One Piece, but I am definatley enjoying it (almost finished dl'ing all the episodes) and would recommend it. As for other series, I would definately read the above posts to get an idea of what peeps are watching. Black cat is pretty good so far (only 5 episodes, so my verdict still isn't in on it) and here's a short synopsis (from animenfo):

"There used to be a legendary assassin called Black Cat who had many people. He was supposed to be killed because he had betrayed the secret syndicate, Cronos. They hired Train to become a bounty hunter to kill him.
He runs after his ex-buddy, Creed, with Sven who has grasper eyes, Rins who is good at disguise, and bio-weapon Eve."

The first two were awesome. wow, the ones before Bud's post were back when Black Cat was looking good.

First impressions can be decieving, but here's my personal top 5, in order, of the new bunch.

1. Zegapain (beautifully artistic and stylish, but suffers from crappy mech designs and has the potential to degenerate into your run-of-the-mill mecha series)
2. Utawareumono (nice setting, lovely character designs)
3. TOKKO (monsters, swords, perverse humor, babes)
4. The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi (funny and wacky shit)
5. Black Lagoon (guilty pleasure anime. I love sexy girls toting pistols. And the VA who played Runge in Monster is in it! Not a thinking anime.)


Older series I'm still watching:
1. Eureka7 (where have you been if not watching this show?)
2. Blood+ (plot's been getting better, action keeps punching)
3. Rescue Wings (the only anime I've seen in awhile where I can actually think 'maybe this can actually happen in real life'. Good animation, a little slow)
4. Zoids Genesis (average in most respects, but a rather thoughtful 'kiddy mecha' series)
5. Ergo Proxy (just getting confusing now... still rocks pretty hard)

Mention: Legend of Galactic Heroes (still being subbed, snail's pace release the only downside of this excellent show)
Fate/Stay Night (I still don't see what everyone thinks it's so good for... it almost made my...)

Do NOT watch list.
1. KIBA - good action, everything else is like a public latrine at a burrito and beer festival.
2. Princess Princess (just don't. Seriously, don't.)
3. Bleach fillers (quit early on in Bounto arc)
4. Fighting Beauty Wulong (crappy pacing, mediocre all around)

Well I was introduced to anime by a lot of er, how do i say, crazy yaoi fangirl bitches. (gosh I hope they don't take that the wrong way:o) Hence my first three anime were Gundam Wing, X and Escaflowne

I keep in touch with them and one of them talked me into DLing this one ('just try one, you thought Kyou Kara Maou was funny didn't you?,' she said)

Yaoi fangirls are a crazy pack and I know it's best to stay on their good side. So i watched and gave her my quite scathing critique on it while trying to make it through the longest 22 minute period of my life. :mad: The OP alone nearly killed me.

edit- And it would have been #1 but PP at least doesn't take itself seriously or try to be anything more than senseless shounen-ai fangirl fodder. In fact, it had a great quote somewhere in it that made me laugh out loud because it was perfect for describing that entire genre. Let me find it.

found it - The main character is explaining to the teacher that he doesn't think he'll be recieved well at his new (all boys) school, because he's a guy. To this the teacher responds, "Oh (whateverhisnameis), I think you'll find that common sense doesn't always apply here."
Perfect description of both the shounen-ai genre and a majority of its fans.

1. Eureka 7: great series, very entertaining, love the characters, and even the US dub isn't that bad.
2. Aria -the Natural-: The continuation of an excellent series, I look forward to these every week. Very relaxing and well worth the watch.
3. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Without a doubt, the single greatest series this season. A must watch for everyone.
4. School Rumble 2nd Semester: Another series I look forward to quite a bit. There's basically nothing wrong with this series.
5. Black Lagoon: I'm a fan of the manga, and I love the cast. Right now, this is probably the one I look forward to the most.

Series I'm considering dropping:
TOKKO: Really disappointed in the raw quality of the first eps. If the quality doesn't improve I won't continue, no matter how much I like the series.
ERGO PROXY: I really liked the beginning of this series, and the animation is great, but the last few eps really felt lacking. It began to get a little too Wolf's Rain to me, too slow without anything happening. No character development, no action, just nothing. Unless I hear indications that the series is improving, I see no reason to continue this.

EDIT: Rewatched The Third - Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo, decided it's worth watching.

In no particular order:

- Eureka 7. I often feel like a complete mecha n00b, because I haven't watched any of the Gundam series. Maybe I'm just avoiding the archetype and skirting the center by watching series like Eureka and FMP...

- ARIA - The Natural I have previously tried to express in words why I like this series, but it's very hard. Maybe the feeling I get by watching this series is like that experienced when finally getting back to the warmth of indoors after spending hours in freezing winter coldness outdoors.

- Utawarerumono. Fantasy is my favorite field of fiction. This series surprised me with a mature main character, suble humour and calm code of conduct.

- School Rumble 2nd Term. This doesn't really need explanations.

- Fate Stay Night. I was wondering if it's this or Magikano I should add as the last of the 5, but I ended up with FSN. Since complich8 already wrote a novel (http://forums.gotwoot.net/showpost.php?p=291438&postcount=276) on the subject, I don't really need to explain why I like FSN, and need a series like it.

#4: Ouran HS Host Club: It's just funny...so so funny. when they found out Haruhi was a girl...priceless.

#3: Blood+ It's slipping as more and more boring episodes go by, but still stays in the top three becuse of its veteran status

#2: Fate Stay Night: I can't think of anything that doesn't make me happy in this series...maybe Archer's loss and there being no H scenes are what take it off the top spot.

#1: Melencholy of Haruhi Suzumiya; I love that ED so much it's unhealthy. Plus this shoe has so much potential gushing out of it I just have to get excited every time i see a new episode was released, this show just does it for me.

Bleach and Naruto have completely dropped off my list due to fillers, as I'm not watching either. I have started watching some new stuff though:

1. Utawerurumo - Cool fantasy show, 'nuff said.
2. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - I heard a lot of good stuff about the first two episodes of this, and was not disappointed. Seriously funny and really interesting. It's crazy without being over-the-top. Edit: Like Yukimura said, the ED is really great what with the dancing and all.
3. School Rumble (first series) - I'm finally getting around to watching this; I'm glad there's a second series because I love this show. I hope things turn out ok for Harima :p
4. Eureka 7 - I'm watching this on Adult Swim. They are currently only on episode 2, but I like the show already. It does seem a tad cliche (a mix of shounen adventure AND giant mecha drama), but I really like Renton.
5. I'm also rewatching His and Her Circumstances (Kare Kano) - one of my favorite series ever.

I also wanted to check out Nana 'cause I'm somewhat interested in the shoujo genre. I think I'll wait to hear if it's any good though.

Fate/Stay Night - excellent OP, intriguing storyline, one of those series that grabs you and don't let go

Haven't watched Naruto for a long long time now, and I don't plan on doing so until fillers end (that's assuming they don't pull a Kenshin...). Bleach is alright but it's fillers, so it's definitely not in my top 5 currently.

Love the first season and this one is even better then the first and it School Rumble, what not to love?

#2 Onmyou Taisenki
Great Shonen, good storyline and not as predictable as most shonen generally are, even though it a bit kiddy the action and fight scene are great, a very underated anime. With bleach and naruto both on filler at the moment this would be a great series to pick up.

#3 Ouran High Host Club
This Anime is hilarious, it remind me so much of fruit basket which happen to be one of my favorite anime except it has more random wtf moments.

#4 Zoids Genesis
A must watch for zoids fan, and since Zoids Fuzor was a steaming pile of ****, this series seem like a huge improvement over the last one, it started out kind of slow but it is picking up slowly one of those series that get better as you watch it.

#5 Fate Stay/Night
This one would've been up higher on the list if i was writing this post around when ep 14 came out, but the last few episode has been somewhat disappointing and it felt like they are just trying to rush the storyline to finish within the 26 ep limit.
