Greetings everyone. Basically this thread is to talk about one of the most undertalked Mobile Suits in GSD and actually, my favourite Grunt unit in all of Gundam Seed Destiny. Not the ZAKU, not the WINDAMS, not the Daggers, hell, not even about the GOUFs.

I'm talking about the mainstay of the current ORB army: the Murasames.

Does anyone think that these units are respectable? Personally, I've been fascinated by their verstatility in air combat and mobile suit fighting abilities. But so far, we've seen them pitted against Saviour, which beat 2 of them, an entire fleet against the Minerva, also defeated by the gay Impulse and 2 ZAKUs, and now, against the regular ZAFT grunts, their being pushed left right and centre.

Then again, it took only three to bring down Chaos, albeit they somehow missed the pilot. And in my humble opinion probably better than the BABI which looks so fat and doesn't appear to carry close combat weapons.

Personally, I think they're the victim of commercialism again, only cannon fodder to be sacrificed to Shinn Asuka. By itself, I think its a damn good mobile suit and much better than normal mobile suits with jet packs because by transforming into jets, they maximise their aerodynamic abilities. And this is the reason I believe Chaos was defeated, arrogant pilot aside.

Pity the Astray's have also been pushed back to non-existence. At least the Murasame's have killed something. I've yet to see the Astray's do any kills yet.

I know we're all hyped out with the DOM troopers but don't forget these worthy units that even now, made ZAFT fear the ORB military. If we can believe the Dullindal is evil, then its the reason why ORB is attacked in the first place, the capure of Djibril being at best, a pretext only to remove the next most powerful nation on planet Earth.

That's because it's 10 ZAFT on 1 murasame.

Yea,and the fact that they're piloted by Naturals, and i still think Astrays outnumber Murasames in ORB's military

they look great to me and i wish they were more badass,, but i guess theyre not suppose to be or else it messes up everything

really sucks how damn astrays just STAND there doing crap and let themselves get shot down, avg battle life expectancy of them is like 4 seconds

yeah.. i really like the murasames. They appeal to me cause of the way they transform like saviour and stuff. Makes it fun to watch them fight atmospheric battles but its not fun to watch them get sliced pathetically. Come to think of it, the Saviour was a really good mobile suit. I would love to watch a similar design with a great pilot being used to its abilities. Heck ide be really happy if mwu ended up piloting an MS with the Murasame and Saviour transforming ability but that seems unlikely

Astrays are a joke. On the latest episode there's a scene where a GOUF simply tosses its whip on an Astray, and instead of it getting entangled or electrocuted IT'S SLICED IN HALF. FOR BEING TOUCHED BY A WHIP.

To be fair, the GOUF's whip is more then a long peice of metal. The electric charge it can send can also heat it up, add enough heat and it can slice through metal like butter. Not exactly the Murasame's fault they didn't get built with Phase Shift.

Now that I think about it, I believe this is the first time they have really shown GOUF's fighting something besides Gundams.

Goufs dont have whips, they have heat rods. Similar, but not the same thing.

That said, Murasame's are incredibly awesome. They are easily the fastest mass production suit currently around, and in my opinion, the most well rounded and balanced. They have beam weapons, missles, and beam sabers for close combat. They are fast as crap. And its been shown that with good pilots, they are able to perform perfectly well.

As someone else said though, we've only seen them in unfavorable situations.

I'd still take the DOM over the murasame myself, but not by much.

Gouf heat rods are suppose to grab and immoblize, not slice a suit in hald :/

well it depends on what you mean by "immobilize"
if you mean by cutting limbs off i don't see why it couldn't cut a suit in half
if you didn't mean that then please explain what you did mean by "immobilize"

but to stay on topic, i've always held the Astray and Murasame pilots in high regards
both because they have great skill and determination not often found in normal grunts
plus that have managed to dish out some serious damage
Minerva anyone? and also they took down Sting, now don't get on my ass at how Sting sucked cause i've heard it all before but he was an "ace" pilot and had a superior suit in terms of firepower and defensive capabilities

The heat rods are weapons. Weapons are meant to destroy. I don't see why they shouldn't be able to slice a suit in half. They may also have a lower power setting for capturing, but only having the capture setting would be foolish on the battle field.

true and also heat whips cannot penetrate phase shift armor which makes it look like its grabbing them. thats why when shin got grabbed by that heat claw his power went down fast and then when the phase shift turned off he lost his leg.

Besides, Goufs always had the option of either grabbing or dishing out dammage. Just look back to the first Gundam episodes.

And I feel like countering this argument just for the heck of it: " Goufs dont have whips, they have heat rods."
That's not entirely true. Some, or atleast one gouf in particular used an electric graple whip instead of your standard issue heat rod. It was showed in the 8th MS team series. Sure, it was a custom model, but it still counts to me and I'd take that whip over the heat rod in a flash! ^_^
