Yeah, I'm tired of the "it lacks originality" argument... if something is good, it is simply that, who cares if it borrows ideas from other anime... at least i don't... in fact... if i liked the anime that it is borrowing ideas from, i like it even more because i get to see something i liked again, but with a fresh presentation...

I don't know whether it borrowed ideas from those series, (and I'm one of the first to say that people shouldn't compare different series). Though, fact are that the composer of the music didn't made much effort not to make it sound as S.cry.ED (he was the composer on that one too), even though there are different series with different settings.

Most of anime shows unfortunatly don't bring fresh ideas... (and especially shounen or bishoujo/harem shows... and this one belongs to the first category.) Although the Far West /Cowboy world is far from being common in anime series, the main character is so far a stereotype (lonesome-overpowered-almost-unbeatable-till-the-very-end-of-the-series-who-only-seek-revenge) character.

The first reason I watched this series was because I knew who was doing the music (I've loved his work on both S.cry.ED and PLANETES)... so I maybe wasn't searching for "originiality" in the music... though I wasn't expecting to hear some forgotten S.cry.ed tracks either...

After watching too many anime series... I don't think people can bear seeing the same pattern again and again.... the series being good or not (which it has yet to be decided by the viewer indeed). Even if this was a sequel to one of the series I've quoted... I don't think I would like it either...

(I don't think the one who made the title thought a long time either.... Gun x Sword... he could have called it Western x Mecha... it would have had the same effect -_-i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

PS : on a side note I'm really hard to please, so don't think you are wrong either (or that I think you are wrong)... I'm just easily bored :/

I liked everything in the first but then they bringed out the robots.... I can live with them but why must they make the main female character so annoying.

Also Van looks have we seen before cant help but think of some other cowboy.

Well.. haven't seen Trigun or Scryed (or however you write it)... so I can't say... but i think this show is not bad... i kinda liked the first episode... Giant robots... meh, but at least the fights are cool... and it doesn't look as if everything will be resolved by giant robots (if so, well that's lame)... I guess they just wnted to show everything that this series was about in the first ep... which is logical...

anyway, yeah i saw the first ep, it runs a little choppy on my crappy pc so i missed some of the action sequences, but it looks to be a "meh" series for me. ill pick it up when i see it, but im not counting down the hours until episode 2 is released. i agree with most of the points made above about the mecha and borrowed character designs, but what are you gonna do, you know? i do like the trigun aspect of it, although the predictability of the show is a little too patronizing for me, i mean of course hes gonna help out the village and fight the bad guy. its lazy storywriting if you ask me, but thats just my opinion.

Watched ep 1 by Sora, and am liking it very much, when the robots came out I had second thoughts, but i'll give it a go, because it could make it interesting, but the animation, action, and comedy is really good, i'll be getting all of this.

i was a bit skeptical about this series before, based on the first ep, id didnt really pop or anything, but the third ep totally sold me on this show, im a big fan of sentai, and shit, that was just cool. also the robot looked a whole hell of alot like gaogaigar, who im also a big fan of, and we didnt see Van or Dann in action much at all, so that was also cool.
anyway yeah, the next ep looks to be a little disturbing, what with Van possibly making drunken advances on his young travel companion. fucking japs, cant leave the young girls alone

So far, this series is just some kind of melting pot.
First episode was some kind of Mad Max episode...
Second episode was the average shounen episode, where they travel and help people on their way.
Third episode was a super mecha episode... I wonder if sunrise helped on that one, since the mecha really looked like Gao Gai Gar.
Fourth episode is the cliche episode where a character falls ill and that the other has to search for a doctor that doesn't live that near...

and from what we can see from the opening... it's feels like it's gonna go on with the "one episode = 1 vilain"

This series is pretty much Trigun with mechs, don't deny it, we all know it.

It's been interesting enough to keep me watching so far, and I kinda like how the opening shows more people after it introduces them (like Carmen and her weapon, which didn't show in the second eps open, etc). Van's seiyuu definitely doesn't really seem to fit his character, but everyone else so far was fine. I'll give it a few more, but it probably won't be in the top half of the series I've seen.

I just can't see how people didn't like eps 3. I guess you just can't appreciate a good parody. Not only did they do Power Rangers, they even topped it off with a "burning fingers" G Gundam final hit.

They need to get better villians, instead of these suckass punks...

Only thing that is keeping this series together for me is some pretty cool action sequences and the hope that the guy with the claw is kickass...

and for some reason i think that Wendy's brother is the claw guy... or at least i think he wasn't kidnapped... but instead joined forces with him or something...

Yeah, that seems more likely. I think that the acual bad guys are in shadow in the opening, like the "good guys". I can't wait for them to apper. Van will kick thier asses.

Van is crazy! really... his face when he saw the claw guy was just priceless! damn! and Ray had the same face too! and wtf is the claw guy anyways? and was van's wife part of the old Original 7? at least now we know... we know what planet endless illusion is... what the original seven are (were) for. We know where Van and Ray stand... they have to come together... and DAMN that brother, the claw man would be dead by now... shit... damn... these two eps were so f*cked up... the introduction of the claw guy was so well done (even though you probably know who he is before he gets his hand). so... next eps... more good guys appearing? I can't wait to see the other Original 7 armors...!!!

Is anyone else, besides me, extremely annoyed by Joshua?? I wish he had moved just a foot more into the shot so his brother could have killed him. Wouldn't that have made an emotional impact... And, I agree, the introduction to the Claw-man was fucking priceless. I didn't expect it myself, so it totally shocked me when that happened. It's definitely a good thing Shinsen released this double. The cliffhanger of 12 would've been too much to bear.

I love the Claw-man's personality. So calm... so confident. And he looks like he's 60! "If that's what you wish, then go ahead. But, it will have to wait until after I accomplish my dream." So fucking badass...

Finally got some time to check out the new episodes.

14: Nice episode. Prissila is cool, but why can Van remember her name?

15: LOL, Turtle racing..... The fight here was a little disappointing. I'm looking forward to the next episode where we can see more into Van's personality.

shinsen are quite slow because they have alot of other projects and their latest release is only ep 16. I don't know if shrimps is good because I'm currently downloading them and there aren't any subbers who are subbing ep 17-26. I can no longer wait so I downloaded them :D

I tried and watched one episode while I'm downloading. I can't distinguish between a good and a very good subtitle but for me it seems to be better than shinsen's version. The quality is a little lower than shinsen's because of its file size which is less than 150 MB. I haven't found any wrong grammars so that's why I think it's better. Well that's all I could say because I'm having a difficult time here trying to find what words and terms I should use for my next explanation. :D If I've dissapointed you guys, you may correct me :D

Well, SHRIMPS got better, but they still arent really good yet. At this point, Shinsenver is a much better group (did I just say that....)

I haven't seen 25 or 26, but the series really got better, except the episode with the swimsuits, that was just flat out bad. Funny at times, but very, VERY bad. I really like the fact that Michael became a prominate figure in the series, rather than just being a mystery character until Wendy found him in the last episode. I'm hoping the ending will be a good ending for this great series. Most animes fall very short when it comes to endings. I'm hoping GUNxSWORD isn't one of them.

ya i know, but 2 issues with that. one, i really prefer to download a batch, cuz then i can just let it run for a day or two and it'll be complete. second, i tried getting the eps but my irc is being gay. it wont accept the sends for some reason. i keep gettign a msg saying "you have a file pending, turn you client to receive" or whatever, even though i've tried it on auto-accept.

Have you tried all of them? Some are firewalled, before trying a bot type /mode nick -x and then see the correct command to accept the file through the firewalll, of course, there are some unfirewalled bots which are the ones you should use if you can.

I got my eps 1-10 by shinsen from mininova and the 11-16 from their site and downloaded them individually. Until now mininova has still seeders but it seems episodes 2-5 are removed from mininova. By the way, the gunxsword torrents of shinsen in mininova are the same from their website.

Man I don't even have time to watch the rest of the episodes... too busy at school:(

17-26 have been subbed and released as a batch by a group called SHRIMPS, the quality isn't as good as shinsen but if you want to wrap up the series like i did its worth the dl i guess. Overall I thought it was a pretty good series, not great, but definatly worth watching.

Any of you guys ever finish the series? I just got myself the dvdrips and managed to finish the series up.

I thought this was a really cool series, and I loved the bad guy... he reminded me a lot of Bill from Kill Bill. I thought it had a great ending.

I finished the series, it was a very odd ending with the whole planet destruction and all (don't remember too clearly what happened).

I didn't think the series was all the super good, it was okey to watch and better than most shit that is aired today, but still, not many things about the series that was memorable, only the ring-hat :D

I finished the series when it was airing. It was alright until the end when everything turned too "destroy-the-world-and-start-over-as-a-single-entity" for my liking.

Meh, I didn't mind that at all... it's simply a plot device to move the story forward, and when you consider the abundance of parodical elements in the story, it was fitting that this would be the device used.

I loved how all the bad guys were obliterated, even when you started caring about some of them at the end, when they turned a bit good, they get killed off in the most meaningless way in quite an ironic manner, with falling debris. The way he killed The Claw was great too, cutting him in half without a word.

I also liked that even though Van changed slightly through the series, he stayed mostly true to his character till the end, a complete idiot who cared about nothing else but his revenge... it was quite refreshing to have a character like that. I also liked how he ended up leaving, without making a big scene nor caring to say goodbye to anyone, and I also liked how the anime at the least gave us a final scene were we see Wendy grown up with Van stubbling to her house by accident. I thought it was a nice touch.
