At first, it was nothing more than a rumour. A "sex mini-game" in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, left in the code for the PC version and unlocked by inquisitive players. Then, as more and more information became available it seemed as though the sex game might be real. This revelation has lead to California Speaker pro-tem Yee blasting the ESRB for their apparent slip-up in examining all the content in the game. The ESRB has responded by pledging a "thorough and objective investigation" of the claims to get to the bottom of the situation. Commentary is available from Joystiq, GamesAreFun, and Buttonmashing.

Apparently is no rumor anymore. They already revealed the code and all, "Hot Coffe". The scene is even out for people to see in a site.

Looking for the site? (http://www.isnichwahr.de/redirect2005.html)

Big problem is. When they find out. They're gonna slap an Adults Only label on the game instead of the usual M rating. Which will really hurt Rockstar in sales.

Poor Rockstar! This will only increase their infamy which they will thence thrive off in order to yield a more favorable harvest for the next GTA.

& I'll still buy it because I love throwing grenades, shooting rockets and blowing up C4. A lovely franchise and this is the proverbial Icing on the Cake. Hackers might even be able to improve these games with such minigames in the future. This one may be pornorific, but it could be good too

This will just get Rockstar fined for not disclosing everything. You have sex with two chicks at the same time in God of War and it didn't get an AO rating.

I could really care less what happens to Rockstar, videogame companies that just use fucked up shit to sell their games need to stop. I could care less what it does to children or all that nonsense, I just think its wrong the way videogames are headed in that direction with companies like Rockstar.

Nah, you just see two chicks topless in your bed. There's the implication of sex, but ... no actual depiction of it.

Wow, that is pretty damn pornorific! I still dont know if you can blame the company, they did try to hide it. They can't be responsible for what hackers or any nerd does with the existing data... right?

Having unused code just sitting there is pretty foolish, especially in a realm where modders were bound to find it eventually

Jman
Thu, 07-14-2005, 01:06 PM
^agreed. that was bound to happen especially with the pc verion.
i don't really care whether or not they get an AO rating as the game was never intended for children anyways and with the ao rating, there should be a decrease in the amount of idiot kids blaming the games for influencing them to do crimes.

That's retarted, why feel bad for a dumbass company who put that in the game. "Oh it's not their fault modders found it".......uh are you an idiot? It's their fault cause it was put in......BY THEM, NOT THE MODDERS. Dumbass. Fuck GTA. If rockstar likes watching cgi porn then let them make a game out of it.

Never liked the GTA games, they always seemed pointless to me. Plus, the kind of violence in the games do not suit my style.

That sex game video is lame anyway. Totally not worth the hassle that Rockstar has to put up with now

I'll quote an SA poster:

mass murder, drug use, swearing, and prostitution managed to sneak under the radar, but it's good to know the line was finally drawn at dry-humping

Stupid, stupid shit from the ESRB.

July 20, 2005 - The recent drama, titillation, and controversy surrounding the "hot coffee" modification for Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has reached a sudden climax: the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has changed the game's rating to "AO," or Adults Only. Rockstar has ceased manufacturing of the current version of San Andreas, until the company can offer a version not affected by the mod. The company is also issuing a patch to prevent "hot coffee" access in the PC version.

the only thing that could top this is if some mothers go around suing the retailers for selling the games to 17 years old while the game was still rated M...
nothing beats suing someone for doing something which wasn't a crime when he did it...

Fucking pathetic.

And no, I'm not talking about the fact that Rockstar was too lazy to remove some half-assed "sex scene" from their product. I'm talking about the fact that they had to remove it in the first place. It's absolutely lovely to see that murder and drug usage is fully acceptable and even fucking glorified in todays society. But the moment some skin is shown all hell breaks loose.

Seriously, it sickens me to the core that people like this have that much influence over the gaming world.

the game is officially AO, rockstar is working on edited copies right now

I agree with Nai
I've been playing games for a long time, and I think its really wrong to exploit things in such a manner
I like Sonic games where I run around on stages at high speeds and defeats bosses
I dont want to play a game where Sonic does drive by's peddles drugs and bangs hookers
Videogames are starting to go on a downslope in some ways just like television has
The ESRB need to do something about their ratings, it reminds me of the big jump movies used to have from PG to R before they incorporated PG-13. They need more ratings so its easier to understand what games are going to include, it'd solve alot of the legal issues.

the problem is that games in america are still considered for children by those in power right now. i think it is ridiculous, i mean its rated mature 17+, a movie rated R 17+ shows sex scenes and plenty of skin. to tinks, im not sure what your point is, if you dont want to play a game with drugs and hookers then dont, stick to your sonic. there are thousands of games out there, i dont see why a few violent games like gta show that the industry is on a "downslope."

About the ESRB ratings, they need to start handing out a rating thats between AO and M I believe(refer to the Penny Arcade article), also there needs to be something between M and E for everyone, the range of the ratings are too broad.
I say GTA because is Rockstar is the leader in degenerate(sp) games, and GTA is one of many that uses violence and drugs to sell games so thats why I say "downslope" not to mention the complete lack of creativity and innovation in videogames today.
How about Manhunt where you pretty much just run around executing people? Another Rockstar game
There was a time where all the things GTA does that gets it such a high rating never used to be a part of videogames, and I miss those days

SK

im just not sure why, there are still plenty of videogames that arent violent like rockstar's games.
on the esrb point, why would you need something between M and AO, M means 17+ which i think should be enough right there, and get rid of AO. the problem is that stores dont enforce the ratings like they do for movies, if they did all we would need is E, T, M, E would be like G, T like PG13, and M like R. i dont get the point of AO, thats 1 year after 17 youre considered an adult, so maybe make mature 18+? the real problem is that a lot of parents dont know what their kid is playing or dont really give a fuck as long as it keeps their kid busy, then they put on the news and see they just bought their kid a controversial game. so they decide hey that isnt right someone else should make sure my kid isnt playing this game other than me the fucking parent. its a joke...

NC-17 is just like AO, and I'm pretty sure theres something above NC-17 now but I'm not sure
List those games though
