What are you talking about? Suzuka is no harem anime and comparing it to Love Hina is... well...wrong. If you want an accurate depiction of this anime here's one written by Mentar.

10.98s seems awfully fast for a 9th grader, considering the current world record is 9.78s set by a professional athlete after years of training compared to 2 weeks by Akitsuki.

They all said his speed scares them (Hattori said this twice specifically), he's supposedly very fast. 10.98 is still a whole lot closer to 11 than flat ten, so I'll take that for now. In a sport like track, fractions of seconds and millimeters count, so something that may seem small can still be a pretty big deal. Like I said, he's only .02 seconds away from 11 seconds, which is somewhat more realistic for high school students.

Here's a high school record from Ohio:

100-Meter Dash 10.48s Mario Allmon, Cincinnati Princeton Dayton 1990

So actually, Yamato's time isn't really all that unrealistic in the first place for someone who is proportedly very fast.

I can only think of one series that let the couple get together and the show kept going. In Kara Kanou the main couple got together after like 6 shows, teh rest of the show was them trying tow ork through teh problems of actually keeping a relationship.

There's less ecchi, and its seriously done, Suzuka's only similarities with LH is Yamato's living in a girl's dorm. The manga chapter I've seen had a lot more ecchi scenes.

There is barely ANY similarity between Suzuka and School Rumble. If you think that, I think you need to either watch more eps of Suzuka or School Rumble. The only similarity I can think of is that the characters from both series go to High School.

I kinda knew something cliche like getting stranded would happen, but at least for a while they still took it into a different dircetion.

Suzuka was confessed to using Yamato's bellflower combo, combined with her obvious jealousy that he had switched over to Honoka after all the obsessing he did (indicated by the foul mood she's been in since she heard about it), she took it seriously and responded in kind. Why else would she turn her back while saying it was a joke? Though even more credit must go to Yamato for lying and saying he confessed to Honoka.

Poor plot-device Honoka, you're only going to get hurt in the end after all the stupid shit Yamato and Suzuka are always doing.

That could still happen, though. Yamato sure is a bit dense fellow, but I think Suzuka might like somewhat denser men than Honoka... Suzuka seems like a person who could kick Yamato's ass, when he gets too stupid, but Honoka probably could never do that, and would only suffer like we have witnessed.

Yeah. The setting in this series isn't that surprising. Honoka's problem is that she didn't really want Yamato but the image of Yamato she had cultivated in her mind. Wasn't it told that they met earlier briefly near that temple? It seems after that Honoka has been imagening Yamato in her mind, no doubt idealizing him, but the reality obviously never lives up to such dreams, and she was getting frustrated and dissapointed, leading to sadness. And Suzuka is the opposite: She looked down on Yamato all the time, because he could possibly never be as good as that long dead idol fellow she almost reached before the end. And now, despite all his obvious faults, he has really surprised her a few times, and I suppose Suzuka is realising a dead guy isn't much of a companion compared to living people.

Thats not even remotely what he did though. He went out of his way to keep Suzuka out of it. The only reason he spoke about her at all was honoka brought her up in the first place. Plus Honoka should clearly realise that Yamato and Suzuka were good friends before she ever asked him out and they have always been closer then her and Yamato. Her main problem is she realises all of that yet selfishly wants him to turn into HER perfect image of a boyfriend. No guy can live upto that and any girl who goes out of her way to get between a guy and a girl she KNOWS he really likes will always be 100% disappointed and get everyone hurt in the process.

Simply put until Honoka can get over herself nobody can be happy here. Suzuka also clearly showed signs of being ready to return Yamato's feelings being that is why Honoka even asked him out finally in the first place.

Hmm... I didn't pay attention, or notice such a thing. But on the other hand, it didn't have that many really dynamic scenes, so it probably was also because of that a bit more low budget episode than most of the others.

I wonder if Yamato was trying to burn some bridges or prove something to himself in his last scene... Either way, it had to be a tactical move, though I can't see his plan (if there is one).

I think you're giving him too much credit. The way I saw it, he probably thought (foolishly) that Suzuka would react badly to him and Honoka breaking up on okay terms so he tried to make it sound like a clean cut.

I like how they've changed the voice subtleties for Suzuka in the past two eps. The VA took out the harshness in her voice during her "concerned" lines.

I did consider that, but I came to the conclusion nobody can be that baka... Thus I view it as some sort of plan, but I just don't see what he tries to immediately achieve with it. But no doubt the next episode will explain it.

He was trying to save face in front of Suzuka. To him, it would seem unmanly to be the one dumped. He is also stupid, and doesn't realize that is not the wisest path to take. People seem to be forgetting that Yamato is a complete and total dumbass when it comes to the fairer sex. (With the exception of the whole flower confession idea, that's unstoppable.)

Yes. This is still what I believe. I don't think anybody could possibly be as stupid as unwittingly saying something like that (or be written that stupid in the script). He has some plan, I'm sure of it. Perhaps the plan was just to push Suzuka away so that he can feel miserable alone, but it's a plan nonetheless.

I think he is really THAT stupid. He's accused her of being obesessed with a dead guy (maybe true, but not the thing to say to someone), he's stalked her to the point of joining her club, then backing out, then deciding that he really does like her and needs to stay with the team to be near her. Later he would accept the confession of another girl because he was starting to get fed up with Suzuka and from shock of that confession. After that, while still going out with Honoka, be coerced into showing off his suprisingly effective and kickass confession skills with Suzuka.

Then due to Honoka's insecurity and his stupidity of talking about other women while with her, end up breaking up with Honoka, who honestly did love him (and no crap about "She couldn't make him into the image she thought he was." She reunited with him, and pretty much found out he was exactly what she thought of him from before, because he's pretty static as a character).

Then to save face, as he's done before, insult Honoka and say she was cramping on his style, etc, to Suzuka, who he not only desires to still impress with his manliness, but assure her that he really didn't like Honoka that much. She gets pissed off (and rightly so) and he looks confused and a little sad.

That doesn't sound like all that great of a 'Grand Plan.' You are giving him way too much credit. He's stupid, he doesn't think things through before he does them, and doesn't weigh the consequences of any action he takes until after its too late. It sounds to me like he's fufilling those a lot more than any grand plan. If he had thought up some plan, he wouldn't have gone through all this mess.

Choice number one would be to Tell Suzuka what actually happened in which case she blames herself and likely tries to get him and Honoka back together despite what she wants. Choice number two is to place as much blame as possible on himself, yes this makes Suzuka mad at HIM and she will be upset as we saw but in the end he protects her as much as possible.

I was going to say the same thing. I dont think he had any sort of grand scheme, but he defiantly put some hard thought into it before he spoke. He didnt want suzuka to feel any responsibility (which can weigh on a person alot longer then anger at another). I really like where this is going, as nice a breakup as you can think of with Honoka, and reopening possibilities with suzuka.

Other than thinking that Yamato simply isn't too smart, the key reason why I think he's not following some plan is the "huh?" reaction he had after Suzuka got mad (or at least, not some master *successful* plan, but rather some poorly thought out idea-plan). To me that says that he was expecting Suzuka to have an "oh okay, that's how it is" reaction instead of getting fed up at him.

Although since this anime goes on on for several (six?) more episodes (or more?..) I'm guessing that details of how things actually happened will eventually get around to Suzuka and she'll have some sort of change of heart.

Nope I have not read the manga at this point I don't even know of a group scantilating it thats beyond chapter 1.

That aside decent episode I think that Yamato just had love interest #3 put into the picture though no girl who's single is that suppoetive of a guy she admires without having a significant interest in him when she's doing so expect her to make a move on him within the next episode or 2 likely at the meet after Suzuka blows him off again. Thats atleast my guess at this point.

www.animewaves.net is starting to work on the manga they JUST released chapter 1 and there usually fairly slow but I'll be following there releases they use to do Ichigo 100% which I also read.

whoao... I got pretty adicted to this anime. Checking this forum every day for somthin interesting until I found THIS. But I didnt have a fu^^ing proper internet conection. Just got it fixed Yesterday. Started downloading and saw all the episodes available in one day. That was awesome. Though I think Suzukas a bit stupid for what shes doing. That boys lucky, having so many cute girls after him, sniff T_T not like me.

Dont know the answer to that question but I think itll be released soon enough this week.

By the way, Suzuka is not stupid. Shes just really shy although she tries not to show it. I prefer Suzuka over Honoka. Honokas all sweet and nice to akitsuki but theres more to love than just loving that person. Honoka never makes any jokes and doesnt even tease akitsuki. Shes not fun at all, the relationship with her gets too damn serious. Suzuka, on the other hand, constantly teases akitsuki, shes got a stronger caracter. She even made akitsuki try his hardest. The story and the relationships much more interesting with Suzuka as a girlfriend.

Youre quite a freak for watching all the episodes in one day i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif. Why dont you try going out once in a while.

This was a very good episode. I knew things would get rolling again when Yamato can start to talk (or argue) with Asahina again. The dynamics of this series just skyrocketed. And Yamato got a real energy burst. After the dullness that started with the Honoka relationship (and ended fortunately), things are again looking very promising. Jolly good.

I don't know where you get this idea from, because three really important things happened in this eps.

The Kazuki-Suzuka connection was put out there by an independent party, Miyamoto-sempai, proving it actually wasn't just in Yamato's head.

Yamato finally has a goal, to be number one in Japan and outshine Kazuki in Suzuka's heart, since at the time he [Kazuki] was the best, and it's really hard to outdo someone who's dead.

Suzuka is starting to notice Yamato's new intensity, and it's really confusing and flustering her, something that hasn't happened in some time (Since the time he started going out with Honoka).

Hmm... Didn't Suzuka's sister (or whoever that woman was that Yamato met when he tried to go to see Asahina) tell him something about the dead guy? Wasn't that the way Yamato was able to see Asahina at the grave yard? I don't remember the details anymore, though, so I could remember something wrong.

What comes to your second point, that's what I meant when I said he's at least looking straight ahead for now, instead of just endlessly pondering what to do, and thus in the end not able to do anything at all.

And your third point starts with "starting to notice", which basically means just what I said: Without episodes like this, nothing bigger could happen in the future.

Suzuka's sister did tell Yamato, which is how he knew about the Kazuki issue, but a lot of viewers could take his feeling inferior to him being some misunderstanding he thought up after being rejected and then trying to figure out why.

Now that someone else talked about it, and that she probably loved him, it's more of an issue than it was before. Also Hattori knows about it now, which will explain a lot of Yamato's actions to him.

I thought those other two things were pretty remarkable, and your post came off as if you felt nothing had happened at all in that eps. Misunderstanding on my part.

Shes now really in love with akitsuki although he always reminds her of that dead guy, thats inevitable, you never forget your " first love". Akitsukis attitude has gotten quite serious, that attracts Suzuka even more. Shes really harsh when she opens that mouth of hers but shes also really caring deep inside. As I said Honokas gonna creat some problems.

I figure you guys can enjoy a long post of mine on the last eps, so here goes.

I still think a large part of Yamato's desire to be number 1 in track was to come out of Kazuki's shadow. Or rather, to get Suzuka out from Kazuki's shadow. Though she and everyone deny it, she's still hung up on answering Kazuki, so much so that she can't move on. She wasn't able to tell him how she truly felt before he died, and its prevented her from, cliche as it sounds, looking for love.

Yamato has come closer than anyone to breaking that before, noted by how irriated she gets whenever he's around. She doesn't want to move on, but Yamato is forcing her, and that's what irritates her.

The times when he comes close to breaking her away from Kazuki's ghost completely, the theme park at the beginning, the bellflower confession, the multiple other confessions, she gets flashbacks of Kazuki and pulls back or runs away back underneath his shadow. There, she won't ever have to accept the feelings of others, because she still hasn't gotten over her own from years ago.

This problem became obvious to everyone because Yamato (unknowingly) put the same conditions on his recent confession that Kazuki did. Maybe Suzuka never realized she was doing all this association before, but she sure does now. Which is why she ran away. She's finally started to like Yamato, pulling herself out from Kazuki's shadow as Yamato begins to eclipse him, but that perfectly mirrored confession gives Suzuka the same fear that Kazuki's legacy leaves, that she may not be able to answer Yamato before its too late. The parallel is too vivid for her now, and she can't take it.

As for Yamato, he didn't screw this one up, since he didn't realize how exact his recent confession paralleled Kazuki's. So maybe it wasn't Yamato all along after all....

At least that's my take on it given what happened in this eps.
