Wish they made the PG parts of the Sword and Launcher Striker packs..PG IWSP would rule too..
The 1/100 Gundam 00 kits, are they HG?
The 1/100 Virtue can turn into Nadleeh.. looks really sweet. :)

Kinda sucks that the 'anime head' extra for Master Gundam im discontinued at HLJ.. looked sweet :)

Good first attempt. I prefer my paint matte rather than glossy, but I guess it's a matter of preference.
I have to agree with that. I havent done any in a while (money's been tight) But the matte paint works better. For me, the gloss paint show off way too many imperfections that were made during the painting and assembaly process.
Harima Kenji
Mon, 04-21-2008, 09:38 AM
I'll give matte a try when painting my 1/144 D. Hell.
edit: after painting the legs in white paint, I found that it's not a smoothe as I had with the gloss paint.. does this go away?
(I paint by hand, no airbrush)

Currently in the midst of putting together the HG Buster, which is taking far longer than it should, since this is the first time I've had to paint every piece, just about (damn set of five sounded like a good deal at the time...). Will be ordering the MG Sazabi in due time.

Yeah I dont know....I mean it looks cool in a way but it also looks kind of freaky too.
BTW future plans are to get MG musha gundam and the new RX-78 whenever they come out.
...and i still have my fingers crossed for MG Double X and ZZ 2.0.
Harima Kenji
Mon, 04-21-2008, 03:50 PM
ZZ 2.0 sounds sweet :)
Still whining for the other Striker packs in PG... MG is a good start, but I want the loose packs for my PG.
vejita613
Mon, 04-21-2008, 05:54 PM
Well ZZ 2.0 is just a wish of mine, nothing more unfortunately. Atleast, for now...
I thought that PG version of strike also had the other packs as well? Though I wonder how well the other packs would sell in PG since its already so expensive right now to get a PG strike in the first place. Dont get me wrong, I think it would be cool but I have a feeling they (bandai) want to think of the business side of things before they release something like that.
Harima Kenji
Tue, 04-22-2008, 12:59 AM
PG Strike has the Aile Striker pack that comes with a Skygrasper.. If they release the other 2 packs with a Skygrasper, I'd be happy. Doubt it'll happen, though..
vejita613
Tue, 04-22-2008, 04:32 AM
Yeah, we really havent see much more done with PG as it is anyways.

Another picture of MG impulse (straight build). Doesnt look too bad at all. Apperently the V on the chest as well as the vulcan cannons are molded parts.

MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 - Summer
MG Shin Musha Gundam - June, 5,250 yen
1/100 Tieren Ground Type - June, 2,730 yen
1/100 Gundam Astraea Type F - June, 2,940 yen
1/100 Gundam Avalanche Exia - July, 2,940 yen
BB Senshi Sangokuden Kanpei Gundam - June, 630 yen
Reported dates for the following (not quite 100% confirmed):
HG GN-X - July
Finally some news about rx-78 ver 2.0. My guess is that it will come out after musha gundam (july or august). And speaking of musha gundam, that will be a nice birthday present :)
As for the rest, Im suprised theyre doing so many of the 00 varients. Not really much into those but Im sure theyll appease some fans out there.

Anyone know if any high grade 1/100 kits are announced? or are the non-grades HG quality? (like the SEED ones)
I really want those kits, but I'll wait for possible MGs..
vejita613
Wed, 04-23-2008, 07:12 PM
Um...I think the ones listed there are "HG". Not really too sure about it though. If theyre anything like the other 1/100 00 models then I would consider them HG.

Is that what they're officially known as? I always assumed that the HG, MG, and PG labels were used on the high-detail models for the 1/144, 1/100, and 1/60 scales respectively and everything else was just unmarked. Didn't know they were interchangeable between scales.

since gundam wing kits, ALL 1/100, unless stated otherwise, are to be considered HG, just like all 1/144, unless stated otherwise, are to be considered NO grade.

Dumb question:
While reposing my Zeta Ver.2.0 into wave rider mode, I noticed something on the wings.
When in wave rider, left and right of the crotch area are 2 parts that are connected into the wings with polycaps. This makes me wonder: shouldn't this kit have full landing gear? To me, it looks like those removable parts are the bottom parts of the landing gear, yet I can't find any parts that can extend them so the wave rider can stand on them. Is this left out?
vejita613
Sat, 05-24-2008, 02:57 PM
I never really noticed that before, but I dont recall any sort of extentions included with the unit. I suppose one can build their own custom extentions, but personally I just use the stand.
In other news....I saw this from gunota just this afternoon:
New SEED MG for Fall
An announcement at the end of the Phase-Impulse MG Edition video says a new Gundam SEED MG kit will be coming in the Fall. Though the actual MS name isn't given, the background color scheme of the announcement strongly suggests one of Athrun's MS, with the frontrunner on Japanese boards being the Infinite Justice Gundam.
Personally Id perfer the Justice rather than IJ simply because the IJ 1/100 scale was pretty good as is. At the same time, Justice 1/100 was pretty horrid and is in serious need of a MG. My only problem would be if/when it does come out, Id have to go back and paint it red again (I dont care much for the justice models being pink.....-ish). That is, unless they do it for me.

Sat, 05-24-2008, 05:04 PM
I can't think of anything else that can get a MG in the SEED universe than Justice or IJ....I mean, what other kit can it be?
vejita613

The druggie suits. I personally wouldnt mind a MG Gaia myself.

The druggie suits. I personally wouldnt mind a MG Gaia myself.
They should at leas make 1/100's of those..1/100 Gaia would own.. Abyss would too.. I see now reason why only Chaos would get a 1/100 HG.. was he more popular?
I doubt it will be Saviour..but Justice/IJ would be more logical..
vejita613
Fri, 05-30-2008, 03:10 PM
I agree, they should finish off the other two druggie suits with 1/100s. But I guess its kind of too late now. Maybe they were planning on doing it but maybe chaos didnt sell too well so they decided not to go through with the other two. Who knows.
http://www.bandai-hobby.net/english/item.html
So I guess its offical....Musha Gundams frame is based on RX-78 OYW ver. I dont see how thats possible though since in the game Musha is pretty large compared to the other gundams. I was expecting him to be atleast the size of Nu gundam (or even slightly bigger).
On a side note, my mg impulse and 1/100 overflag are on their way :D But I still need to finish off Hi-Nu first.......

I hope to receive my MG Impulse next week...it was sent about 8 days ago.
I've ordered more kits last week:
EX Archangel
MG Gundam Alex
HG Providence 1/100
HG G-Falcon+Gundam XX
MG Musha on pre-order and thinking about HGUC The-O..
vejita613
Sat, 05-31-2008, 05:03 PM
Yeah Ive got musha on order as well.
Hey let me know how that providence goes. Ive been considering getting him for a while but Ive been hesitant. I doubt well ever see a MG version though...
Harima Kenji
Sat, 05-31-2008, 05:52 PM
That's why I bought the providence.. I prefer MG releases, so I wait a while before buying HGs.
I'm waiting for some Gundam 00 MGs before I start buying..
When I get the providence I'll tell you how it is.

Still need to build master gundam though :x

Still on my to-buy-list.
vejita613
Mon, 06-02-2008, 03:05 PM
Yeah I got both unicorn and hi nu (which I STILL havent finished). I kinda liked unicorn (especially since it didnt need any of the polycaps like regular gunpla). But there were one or two things I didnt like about it...although its been forever since I built it so I cant exactly remember what they were anymore.
BTW, I remember reading back a few months ago about how RX-78 was supposed to have "new technology". But, when I look at pictures of it and such, I dont really see anything on there thats "new". Anyone know anything on this?
Harima Kenji
Mon, 06-02-2008, 04:39 PM
Don't know...wasn't it the Unicorn that had something new?
I don't know if anyone posted this yet, but Iread somewhere that there will be an MG RX-78 Version2.. maybe that one will be different?
vejita613
Mon, 06-02-2008, 06:43 PM
Well unicorn was unique in that it didnt use polycaps whatsoever. I thought it made it fun to build but like i said there were some negative qualties about it that I dont remember off the top of my head.
And yeah, theres an rx-78 version 2.0 coming out in July. Thats the one I was referring to in my previous post. There was some sort of announcement a few months ago that it was supposed to have "revolutionary technology" but it was never talked about since.
Anyways, heres a look at it:
http://www.1999.co.jp/image/10072610a/20/1
Theres several other pictures of it out there, mostly comparing the pervious MG rx-78s to ver. 2.0. Either way Im planning on getting it.

Hmz.. a couple of Action Bases 1 have arrived last week, and I want to put the 1/100 Saviour on it, but I can't find a upper part that fits in the crotch area.. does it exist, or should I use the 'simple' ones that go around the crotch?
vejita613
Thu, 06-05-2008, 02:46 PM
I just use the four pronged ones that go around it myself. Then again I had it in mobile armor mode too.

As promised, a small review on the 1/100 Providence Gundam.
First off I really like this kit. It's no MG, so movability is less, but normal 'HG' posability.
Assembly is easy, like all HG's. I never really studied the Providence in the series, so I was surprised how cool it acturally looks.
- The head has the same mask that Raww has. I never noticed this before, so i was pleasantly surprised. It looks really badass. It radiates evil.
- The chest is massive. It's about 150% the size of an average MS (if not bigger) and the tubes attached to it really add to the coolness.
- The arms and legs are standard for 'HG' releases, so they are good. The hands are the 2 part hands that are made to hold the gun. No movable fingers.
- The armaments are way more numerous then I thought. I thought that it only had 3 DRAGOONs (the big round ones), so when I saw that there were 11 funnels I was psyched. I'm still working on a way to display it with the detached DRAGOONs like the Strike Freedom FBM does. That'll look sick.
The beamrifle/cannon looks great. The handle is made in such a way that it can be posed on the shoulder by simply adjusting the angle of the handle.
The beam saber-unit is nice as well. I didn't remember this from the series, so it was a surprise.
I can only conclude that this is a very nice kit that'll look great on a shelf fighting the Freedom.
-------------------------
The MG Impulse (which is very cool) and the MG Alex had a sort of contest thingies inside the box.. anyone an idea what it is about? (even if it is for japan only, i'd love to know :p)
A thing I found out in the kit of the G-falcon unit with the Double X Gundam, was that the Double X misses a lot of weapons that the 'normal' version of the Double X does have. It's all on the same runner (F), so I'll just order that runner on HLJ :P
EX Archangel kicks major ass. The kit itself doesn't need a single drop a glue, but the miniature gundams do. The kit is molded completely in white, so painting is a must.

Cool, thanks for the Providence review. Question though, how does it compare to 1/100 Legend?
I dont know about MG Alex, but I think the Impulse had something going on called "Phase Impulse". Not too sure what it was all about except that it had a very Gundam Evolve-ish video where all the rumors about the MG in fall being one of Athruns units.
You can order individual runners from HLJ?

The MG Alex had the same thing as the MG Impulse, so that can be it.

Its very simple use ur gundam marker on it the fine tip one. then use a towel or ur finger whipe away excess n if u do it right u should have filled line but not bleed over edges. looks a hell of alot nicer.

Before I continue, an apology is necessary since this is not directly gundam-related. However, since it halted my assembly of the 1/144 HG Aegis, I deemed it neat enough to share.
So without further ado, the non-scale Dygenguar of the Super Robot Wars series.

HLJ, kit by Kotobobukiya, a little over $40 once shipping is added.
Here's a look at the rest of their SRW selection:
http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?Dis=2&MacroType=InjKit&SeriesID=1613
I don't believe I saw the Rai-Oh, or its variant.
*A few additional comments:
- "Non-scale" in the case of the Dygenguar means that it stands roughly a smidge taller than a 1/144 gundam kit.
- Never thought I'd use that plated silver marker to the amount I did until this kit.

1/100 scale METEOR unit with MG Freedom (http://www.gundampro.com/meteor_with_freedom.php)
Oh my god, you'll need a lot display space for this.
USD 1,550?! And here I thought the 1/144 one was too expensive.

As beautiful as that 1/100 Meteor + SF combo is, there's something about purchasing pre-assembled sets that goes against my fundamental beliefs in Gundam modelling.

What did I see to my surprise: There is a PG Astray Red Frame coming!!
vejita613
Sun, 01-25-2009, 11:42 AM
You know, I find it kind of strange that they would have Red Astray as the next PG after not having a PG for so long. Not that it matters to me so much since I dont really have any interest in PG in the first place. But, I will say that the early pics of it look really really nice.
Id also like to point out that there are rumors floating around of a MG The O. That would be an interesting build (if done right of course). But, I feel bad since I cant even properly finish up my MG IJ and Musha. I have both of those completed minus a few accessories and I cant ever seem to find the motivation to finish them up. Hopefully the next Gundam Musou game will help me to finish both models before the O comes out (if it does).
Id like to almost make a prediction: before the end of the year we will see a MG Exia or I give up gunpla forever (not really).

I was surprised as well that this would be a PG.. kinda wacky.
I'll piss myself if thay make a MG The-O.
MG Exia is a given.. the rest of the suits, don't know. 00 will probs be a MG too.

Sun, 01-25-2009, 06:18 PM
Like I said, The O is just rumor. But yeah I would probably invest in that as well. Not too sure what color to use for panel lining though....maybe black?
And yeah I figured that as well, but like I said, I think well see Exia before the end of the year. Hopefully by June, that would be nice.

PG GP01/FB -> found it on eBay for about 50 euro's less then on HLJ.. and lesser chance for custom fees :)
MG EX-S Gundam
MG ZZ Gundam
MG Zeta A1 Test Color
HG Chaos Gundam 1/100

I'm REALLY looking forward to these kits :)

Question, do you guys use grey Gundam markers as well as black? I'm just looking at these panel lines, and some lines look really thin & light. I've only got a black one, so was seeing what you guys think.

Yes. I generally use the grey for white and other lighter color parts and use black on darker colors such as red, green, etc.

April:

Yes. I generally use the grey for white and other lighter color parts and use black on darker colors such as red, green, etc.
Alright, I'll give that a go on some scrap pieces I've got from years back. Apparently pencil is pretty good for gray-on-white panel lining...wonder how well that'll work out.
On a related note, how much pressure do you guys use when spraying?
I'm still mucking around, trying to get it right. From what I've heard, lower is better, especially for finer detail, but some airbrushes, like siphon fed ones, need sufficient pressure to work well, while gravity fed ones can be used on very low pressure.
Edit: It also seems like I may need an extra water-trap. The compressor's got one, but the air's still too hot coming out so it doesn't do much (at least that's what I learned from reading around).

I have to say, Im very very tempted to get the MG Hyaku Shiki HD Color Ver. Thing is, I dont care much for the suit itself nor its Zeta Gundam series pilot. Then again I do have some respect for its ZZ Gundam series pilot. Plus, they why they have the gold paint on there is pretty nice as well.
Ive been meaning to do this for sometime now, but I have finally gotten myself a camera and taken pictures of my various gunpla collection:

vejita613
Thu, 02-19-2009, 04:09 PM
Aside from the Gundam markers for lining, nothing. I usually keep the default colors of the models, I just like them alot more. The only time I ever painted a model was my 1/100 Infinite Justice, which I colored a dark red (much like what you would see on Saviour). I thought about doing the same when the MG version came out, but 1) I didnt have any paint left at the time and 2) I really dont have a place at my new apartment for me to do it (unlike my old place where I had a garage) 3) I just dont have that kind of time anymore, Im suprised I have time to put them together in the first place.
In anycase, thanks for the compliment :)

Maybe a weird question, but what do you do with the runners and boxes when you've completed a kit? I currently have all the boxes piled up in my room, but they take up WAY too much space at the moment. I don't like the idea of just throwing them away, since most boxarts are very nice.
vejita613
Mon, 03-02-2009, 05:15 PM
I throw most of the runners away. The only ones I keep are the polycap and those that still have parts left on them. As for the boxes, I keep those as well. The only ones I got rid of were my old Gundam Wing EW boxes, but I still kept the top of the boxes.
Also, does anyone plan on getting the PG Red Astray at the end of the month? Im really really considering it, but man...$100+ is really. really. really expensive. Especially since I'm getting two games this month plus saving up for a computer at the end of the year.

I'm considering it as well, but still in doubt. The is supposedly a Limited edition, that also comes with transparent armor parts. Really tempting, but expensive..

Yeah, Ive decided not to get it at this time. Ill probably wait until summer. With Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 coming out next week, plus everything else thats going on, I probably wont be able to spend enough time with it.
But it the mean time, Ive started working on a few SD Gundams (Strike Freedom and Destiny). I didnt realize that there was so much painting that was involved with the SD stuff. I thought it was going to be a three hour project to put the things together and detail. Now I have to wait to get the appropriate paint.

Apparently the price of the 'ignition mode' version will go up a good 1000 yen after the initial release, so if you want it, and have the money get it while they're hot!
Too bad that you can't build it as R2, but the parts for R1 are included, so that's amazing as well :)

Does anyone here know how to paint soft vinyl? It's probably not that common for normal Gundam kits. Preferably paint that doesn't crack when I move/bend the vinyl.
Same with the ABS plastic too, if that requires any prior treatment, since they're more rubbery than normal plastics too.

Thats also a concern of mine too. They dont even have a MG for this but they put a PG out? Thats totally out of order. Unles they're just doing this to screw with the fans. Or maybe there will be a MG last part of this year?
Plus, to be honest, I was expecting them to have a PG Strike Freedom before they btrought that out. But then again, it does say that its under development. So Im betting we dont see this until next year.

Oh, wow, glad I held out getting the plain 1/100 Blue Frame Astray.
Judging from the photos, you need two action bases to support both the mech AND the Tactical Arms?
Harima Kenji
Thu, 09-10-2009, 01:26 AM
The tactical arms in sword mode is way too heavy to stay in his arms well. So getting an actionbase 2 (for 1/144) seems to give the needed support. In backpack mode the kit is very backheavy. This is no issue if the kit is on an actionbase, but without it the backpack needs support.
The NG 1/100 is the Blue Frame 2nd L, and the MG is the blue frame 2nd R.. so they are different configurations. (they love that in Astray..)

HLJ had a blowout sale last week, meaning that if you bought at least 1 action item, there would be no shipping cost for your whole order.
Seeing that it would save me €70 shipping, I just thought what the heck, and got the PG 00 raiser together with:
MG F91 Harrison (was the action item.. not really a fan of the design, but maybe I'll grow on it)
NG Vent Saviour and Regen Duel and Dynames
For the people getting the PG 00 Raiser with the clear parts:
Bandai warns people that adding the clear parts is a 1 time thing. You need to choose if you want to build it normal or with the clear parts. When built, the clear parts can not be removed because of the material they are made of.
Really sucks IMO.. it looks very nice with the parts, but like the Red Frame, I prefer it to be reconfigurable..
For a kit this expensive, I'd expect better..

Is the 00raiser bigger then Astray, or is it b/c of the stand?

Yikes. It took mine just a day to get through. But then I just ordered 00. But even still, 20 days? I wonder if theres a way to contact them or something.
lol Yeah, my friend and I were talking about doing that while I was in the process of building it. Funny thing is, the second picture was a total accident. The GN sword III fell down on Red Astray and our other friends were like "Take a picture! Take a picture!" So, I did lol. Then my friend got the idea to take off Red Astrays arm to make it look like it was sliced off. Good times were had.
Actually, I believe I saw on Dalong.net that 00 is slightly smaller. I just like keep 00 on the stand because well...its one of the biggest reasons why I got the Ltd. edition anyways.
Haha, that's 27+ hrs of fun.

Oh yes, most definitely so. I have to say, for my first PG, this was quite a treat. And a pain in the rear. All at the same time. :D

Been a while since there were any posts here, so let me give this a kick with a VERY sweet announcement from bandai.
we get:
MG THE-O!!!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3550/4603142855_f2356de086.jpg
picture borrowed from Ngee-Khiong.
It's supposed to be a little bit bigger then the MG Sazabi and unfortunately, though unavoidable, a bit more expensive. 12000-something Yen, roughly $120 USD.
It should go on sale this summer, so plenty of time to save some money, get another job etc :D

Ah The O. Why wont you move The O? The O!
But seriously, considering how big this is probably going to be, Im not too surprised at the price. Although, I probably wouldve thought more along the lines of $100 but I guess they figured that since it hit #2 as the most wanted MG, they might as well exploit it. I mean, theres always going to be suckers out there thats going to pay that price to get one.
I know this, because I am one of them.

Where does real grade fit into the rankings?
Illrenmazou
Thu, 03-31-2011, 02:15 PM
You can say Real Grades are 1/44 models with Master Grade quality and reception of this new Gunpla line has been generally positive.
So far, there are only three kits in this line. The other two are RX-78-2 Gundam (http://dalong.net/review/hg/rg01/rg01_p.htm) and Char's Zaku II (http://dalong.net/review/hg/rg02/rg02_p.htm).

1/144 scale, but much higher quality than a HG.
edit: (Whoops, totally missed your post Illrenmazou...sorry about that)
As for Epyon, I just finished building MG Deathscythe Hell and am a bit disappointed in it. Add to that I've never really been impressed with Epyon in the first place, I'll probably skip it. If it were Tallgeese on the other hand....

Probably kind of late to be asking, considering how many years I've been putting kits together now, but what's so special about Katoki designs? What sets his apart from non-Katoki kits?
darkshadow
Sun, 04-03-2011, 04:46 PM
He changes them slightly, mostly making them more sleek and "cool".
With gundam wing however he actually made some completely different designs based on the originals, like wing gundam ver. KA.
I think that is where it basically started.
Most MG's have been going this route anyway, even though they don't explicitly mention it, you can clearly see a Katoki like influence on several of the SEED MG's, like SF, Impulse and Destiny.
Harima Kenji
Sun, 04-03-2011, 04:53 PM
Nothing much.. but Hajime Katoki is a renowned mecha designer, who sometimes customizes/redesigns some mobile suits. There is nothing 'special' about them, it's just that they are redesigned by Katoki.

Ah, thank you both.
It's kinda-sorta an issue with me, as a collector, when it came around to deciding which version of the MG Unicorn to purchase. In the end, I got the MG re-release, but there's still exists only the ver.ka MG Sinanju, hence a bit of a dilemma.
Illrenmazou
Mon, 04-04-2011, 11:38 AM
Well, In the case of MG Unicorn, the OVA version (the re-release that you mentioned) is slightly better than the Ver. Ka because it has better articulation and a slightly different sculpt (OVA version has vulcans and they shrunk down some of the armor pieces to improve the articulation).
As for the MG Sinanju, I don't think there will be a non-Ver. Ka model since it doesn't need any fixing.
darkshadow
Mon, 04-04-2011, 12:00 PM
Didn't they rerelease Unicorn twice?
I personally still like the Ver. Ka more, it might not be as articulate but it simply looks better.

Harima Kenji
Mon, 04-04-2011, 12:58 PM
The Unicorn with MS cage is the OVA version molded in 'HD colors', giving it a little bit more glossy finish.
There are only a few different parts in the OVA version, and the 'old' parts are included. I have both the ver.ka and the HD color+MS cage version and I can say that the increase of articulation is minimal.

Yeah, saw the runners holding the old parts- maybe I should do a side-by-side comparison myself. Oddly glad to hear that the increase of articulation is minimal, the more I heard about it, the more I was beginning to think that the Unicorn ver.ka could only move as much as the FAZZ model.

How would you rate the results Psyke? Does the matte spray do a pretty good job, or does it still leave a fair bit to be desired from the finish?
Psyke
Tue, 04-05-2011, 11:10 AM
I figure the matte spray does a pretty good job, as you can see it definitely removes the entire plasticky feel. However, it can't be compared to air brushing, which gives you more options and also texture. For the matte spray, you still have to draw the panel lines yourself but it's a good and cheap alternative to airbrushing. Much simpler, easier, faster, and affordable.
Buffalobiian
Tue, 04-05-2011, 11:24 AM
Yeah.. I don't think I'll have time to airbrush some of the kits I've got, and have been wondering if I should just leave them unbuilt for now or matte-spray them.
Psyke
Tue, 04-05-2011, 11:29 AM
Matte spray them! Took me less than 30 minutes :p Just remember to get the panel markers and make sure you hold the pieces up properly to prevent leaving finger prints.
Buffalobiian
Tue, 04-05-2011, 11:40 AM
Haha, I'll do my least desirable kit and see the results then.
They're the mini-deformed series anyway, so it shouldn't take long either way. Did you spray each part, each section, or the entire thing?
Psyke
Tue, 04-05-2011, 08:12 PM
I configured the pieces where they will get maximum surface coverage, unlike with airbrushing where you need to separate pieces by colour.
Buffalobiian
Tue, 04-12-2011, 09:56 AM
Come to think of it, I think I'll have to airbrush them after all. The chibi-kits are much less detailed than your PG one, and a piece that's supposed to be made of multiple colours can/would be moulded in one only - so I'll have to break out the brush for that.
Then there's also the issue of having to spray the kit in a gloss coat first before I can panel line it, and only afterwards apply the matte spray. The panel line ink doesn't go well when the surface is porous/bumpy like with the matte finish.

Bleh, please excuse my infallible reading comprehension.
It's a unique set in terms of detail. I don't think there's another set I've seen that has a greater proportion of rises and depressions to flat plastic per piece.
WHICH MAKES PANEL-LINING THIS THING A STRAIGHT-UP BITCH. And that's on top of the ridiculous choice of making all decals dry-rub; why in the world would you do that when there's not enough flat surface area to secure them down with tape?
Also, not sure how to feel about hard-plastic caps for joints. Articulation's stiffer because of them, and I'm more afraid of over-posing this compared to other kits.
Still, despite all my gripes, this is going to turn out to be a set that's really worth assembling because of the nice detail. May opt to buy a sheet of waterslides, unless someone can suggest a good trick for applying dry-rubs perfectly in small areas.

Hmm, guessing no one has been building lately?
PG Strike Freedom. Total Build Time: Unknown. I built it not to long after my last post and have since forgotten. I'm pretty sure it was about the same amount as PG 00 (27+ hours). Overall, pretty satisfying build.
I thought I had more pictures, but these are the only ones I could find:

And as for something more recent, allow me to present RG Freedom Gundam. Total Build Time: 8-9 hours. Kind of surprising since that's usually the amount of time I take to build a MG. This will be replacing my SD Strike Freedom that I have at work:

Oddly enough, the only waterslides that came with the Sinanju are for the gold bits (which wind up looking like yellow tissue paper). The rest are dry-rubs for what would typically be standard, transparent stickers, and that's a big "fuck you" for a design where there's no flat surface, at all.
Oh yeah, you are right, though, the Sinanju is an excellent set. I've definitely warmed up to it as I've been assembling it since my last rant about it.
