Strike Noir reminds me of Deathscythe...... Can't complain much for Infinite Justice and Legend, though I would have preferred Savior instead.

They are most probably professional modellers who make a living out of making model kits.

Then again, all of that guy's kit do :)
I wish I could read japanese, because I really want to know how much he had to abuse Wing Zero Custom to give him that awesome battle-damaged look..

That Lightning Strike Freedom is the best Gundam model I have seen. Seriously impressive, though also kind of scary that some people have that kind of time/money.

Well like what I mentioned previously, these are professional modellers who make a living out of making models, for eg, Hajime Katoki, Max Watabe, etc. They earn money by providing pictures to modelling magazines, and even from entering competitions which can fetch them quite a big sum if they win. They're pretty much celebrities in Japan if you read the Hobby magazines. :D

Its kind of intiminating lol if anyone is on their level its you psyke.
From Hobby Shop Midori. The first run of the HG Strike Noir will come with a DVD catalog that features a C.E. 73 Stargazer introductory promo video and a Hobby Division merchandise video clip. The HCM-Pro Jagd Doga will come with a limited special packaging that includes a set of decals made for Neo-Zeon CCA HCM-Pro releases and a 16-page mini catalog (the next CCA HCM-Pro will come with a similar set of decals for the Earth Fed MS). The first run of the 1/100 Legend Gundam comes with a new type of stand with connecting parts to support 4 kits (the 1/100 Legend, Infinite Justice, Destiny, and Strike Freedom).
Supports 4 models wow that nice.

For some reason the designs of Justice and Infinite Justice don't appeal to me..
To me Infinite Justice looks just like Justice, but then again.. I can't say that I've seen them standing next to eachother..
Is the Strike Noir the first Seed kit that has the HG-sign on the box, or are there more (I can't remember)?
When browsing HLJ today I saw that the MG Freedom from Seed is discontinued there.. does anyone know if they stopped making them or something? I really wanted that kit...and the metallic version is a waste of money..
Maybe a PG is coming up?

I bought the 1/144 MG Strike Noir last Thursday and assembled it for half a day on Friday. It's my first Gundam and it's like one of the coolest Gundams. The detail is cool and i love the black/gray color scheme.Add to that the dual beam pistols it currently poses with(wings extended) it looks very cool.I wish i can get myself a digicam and post picts of it online.Bandai sure made a winner with this one and i think if you have the cash you should definitely get it.Now i'm looking forward to getting all the Extended Gundams(except Abyss) and next year's Verde Buster and Blu Duel.

Importing it from HLJ is normally cheaper for me :) I only found 2 shops in Amsterdam that have Gundam kits ('Space Oddity' and 'Henk') and both are more expensive then importing, including the taxes :p
Only when the kits get really heavy, and the shipping costs are ridiculous, I go there.
I couldn't resist and ordered the Aegis 1/100 today... even though I won't be able to build it for a couple of months (too many kits to build+ paint already..)
And luckily the price was low enough to avoid the nasty 19% import tax to get it here :P

Does anybody know if there's a kit for the Gundam Gerbera?(It's a UC Gundam of the same line as the 0083 Gundams but it wasn't in the show,it's a side story)
Is the Kampfer model a good buy?
Psyke
Tue, 09-12-2006, 05:02 AM
Gerbera is I remember correctly was GP04 in the Stardust Memories series. There was a custom kit for it which I saw in magazines before, but I don't think there was ever a released version.

Tue, 09-12-2006, 09:10 PM
Well,it's just that i saw a Gerbera kit at my local store, but i've never heard there's any Gerbera kit released before,so i thought it was a sham.I do want to buy it,but i wasn't so sure of it's authenticity...
What about the Kampfer?Anybody have any opinion if it's a great kit?
Meehlimo
Tue, 09-12-2006, 10:40 PM
Hey all just preordered the new strike iwsp, stargazer, crossbone gundam. and cerberus BaCuE i cant wait for them that and i would really like to see how they deal with the lines on the armor being black then when powered up gold maybe flourecent stickers? I dunno im just overly curious...
There was a Gerbera kit relased its been years since its been out its just not the gundam version.
And about the kampfer its a really cool kit all its weapons make it fun to pose. It has plenty of gimicks and u can pose it wit the shotgun in its hands like its shooting and pumping the gun basicly the arms have reach and flexibility well the whole kit does for a older kit. If u have any other questions about kits mastergrade or otherwise ask me i have over 200+ chances are i have it.

What do you mean,Gerbera "not the gundam version"?Edit:Realised you meant the Gerbera Tetra.
Then i'll check out the Kampfer and that Gundam Gerbera kit i mentioned. The local store graciously gave me a 20% discount after i bought Verde Buster and i just couldn't decided to buy which 2(or 3) kits i want to buy

Sorry guys,i checked at the store today and realised i mistook the "Gerbera".The Gundam Gerbera GP04 is something i covet, but the one i saw was some Gundam G04 that looks very similar to Gerbera and only appears as a side story in a PS2 Game.Man i couldn't tell the difference at first glance.
Anyways, the Kampfer's sold out,so i settled for Chaos and Infinite Justice. That's like,my 3rd and 4th Gundams.Anybody knows if the 1/100 ungraded IJ is good? After checking out the contents,i found out it doesn't come with the anime IJ's silver joints.Bummer.

@ meehlimo: If you want to buy spare parts, then go to www.hlj.com, there you can order spare parts, but you have to say which plastic tree thing it's in, and wat kit it's from and etc., if you want to buy a part then you have to buy the whole tree part thing, but that's the only way I know how to get spare parts. I've done it a few times so it's safe, but their shipping takes about 3 weeks for me haha. Go to their site if you want more info about it.
@ chris_xion: the infinite justice is a very good kit in my opinion, it's one of my favorite kits and it's pretty cool that u can bend it's wings upwards. It comes with the leg and shield and phantom-01 beam sabers all molded in color, so you don't have to paint them, I would say the phantom-01 is the best thing that comes with the kit, I'm pretty sure that you'll like it after you finish building it.

Meehlimo, does it cost extra to order online?Like exorbitant shipping fees or other royalty payments...?
Thanks for your opinion,Athrun,i'll look forward to building the IJ then. But there's a catch. How do you guys build your models? What kind of tools do you use?I'm totally shocked when i read about Gundam building skills at HLJ,which needed sanding papers,a knife to cut the pieces, paintbrushes, glue and if i recall correctly, cement!I never knew assembling Gundam needed so much, cause i'm new to gunpla so i thought you just snap em' and pose em',and my friend who always bought MGs and PGs also used the same way as me.Just use a scissor to cut out the pieces then trim out the pointy edges and snap them with the other pieces.SO i really need those tools eh?

Nah you don't need all those glue and cement and etc., you just need scissors to cut the pieces out and painting is optional. I build them the same way as you, "snap em' and pose em'."

The 2 Gundams are custom designs from the PS2 Game "Gundam: The Lost War Chronicles".
As for building Gundam kits, you can either do so the simple way with just a Gundam marker to draw in the panel lines, or you can go a step further by using an air brush, to create a matte or shadow effect. I've written a very simple and short guide to using an airbrush a few months ago, do check it out if you are interested about using air brushes.

About the HG 1/60 Wing Zero:
It looks like a nice kit, but I don't know if it looks cool or not.. I have the PG 1/60 (still in box (>_<), shame on me..), so if you want the coolest looking one, you'd want the PG, but if you don't have the money for that (those PG's are expensive :( ) then the HG should be nice as well..
does that answer your question, or am I just blabbering like an old fool? :p

Ah.
On another note from Gunota:
MG Strike Noir - March, 4,725 yen
HGUC Mass-Produced Gelgoog/Gelgoog Cannon - March, 1,680 yen
EX Model Hildolfr - 1/144, March, 7,140 yen
1/100 Akatsuki Full Set - w/ gold plating, March, 6,300 yen
HCM-Pro Gelgoog - Kuspen version, March, 2,100 yen
HCM-Pro Mass-Produced Gelgoog - IGLOO version, March, 2,100 yen
RRR SPT-LZ-00X-B Strengthened Layzner (aka New Layzner) - March, 4,200 yen
The next EMSiA is reported as Char's Gelgoog.
Personally, I think its too soon for a MG strike noir, but whatever. Im very interested in the Aka model, I just hope it has full dragoon effectsn (much like 1/144 SF).

Yes,i do mean the Crossbone Full Cross/Cloth.HLJ doesn't have it yet but apparently it's already in stores at Korea and my gunpla supplier says it's gonna be here at Malaysia in 2 weeks' to a month's time.
The Hi-Nu is also a gem.And they are also going to release a Physalis MLRS in HGUC form as well as a GM Quel AoZ version.
What kind of Akatsuki is that? It's not even gold! Not MG for 6300 yen?Who are they kidding?MG Strike Noir! Now THAT's what i call an early xmas present!

It's a real Hi Nu we're talking about.MG Hi-Nu Gundam with all the gimmicks associated with it.And if you're filthy rich,7000 yen won't be a problem.
I'm saving up for the more reasonable Full Cross and MG Strike Noir. They're on top of my MG list in the mean time.

Will there be a MG Strike Noir, even without a HG 1/100?
The Full Cloth Crossbone looks really badass :)
Is it me, or does the Hi-Nu look like Freedom? (or does Freedom look like Hi-Nu?)
Is the Hi-Nu in Char's Counterattack? I don't remember the Nu being upgraded..

MG Strike Noir!
At first i was a bit dissapointed when i heard about this kit the first time, but it looks really good in the mg "katoki'ish" design that all recent MG's seem to be employing ( which is a good thing):

1/60 (S)HG (S since its better then HG, but not close to MG)
1/60 PG

Thu, 08-16-2007, 06:17 PM
Somewhere last week I was fed up with just having my kits unbuilt in my room.
In 4-5 days I've built almost all my kits. Since most of them were 1/100 HG, that was pretty easy. Building the kits started te become a small obsession. I spent hours on end building. My neck didn't like that. I was forced to take a day off to restore the feeling in my neck.. not funny, I guarantee.
The MG kits were amusing, great detail, but not too hard to build. They just take longer.
Yesterday I started with PG Wing Zero Custom. When I saw the hands, I couldn't stop drooling. I just couldn't help myself and made both arms/hands 'give the finger'.
The irritation started today...The legs were completed without much trouble, although it took me a while to figure out what the springs were for.
The bad luck started when I started with the waist part. I attached a piece wrong, and tried to remove it... SNAP! It took a while to realize that I just broke a part of an expensive PG kit.
Luckily some glue could undo the damage, and now it's as strong as ever :).
It wasn't until I started with the wings that I wanted to start throwing stuff. I can't understand how somebody can think of a construction with spring like thingies that just refuse to stay in the place where they belong. When I finally got both of the wings working like they should (they should release a bigger part of the wing when the wing is raised), I heard the now familliar sound of a spring-thingie that shot out of it's place.
What happened then almost caused me to cry.. I tried to open the wing to redo the springs.. when once again I heard the bone crunching sound of breaking plastic. I almost broke the wing in half. It now has an annoying crack somewhere halfway. The wing was só stuck that it just wouldn't let go anymore.
After saying some words that will get me banned here I managed to fix the springs. Only to find out that the other wing also stopped functioning. This time it opened up like it should. Tomorrow I'm gonna glue those stupid springs in place so they will never be able to shoot loose again.
The sad conclusion of today: I mutilated a PG kit that cost me about €200..
Now I'm getting a bit scared to start with my PG Strike and Skygrasper kits.
Is it just me, or does everybody have problems with braking part every now and then?
Total damage report:
Broke the pin on the Shield of Wing Ver.Ka -> fixed with glue.
Broke a part in the body near gattling guns of Wing ver. Ka -> didn't influence the stability and you can't see it.. no probs.
Broke the upper part or the leg of MG Zeta 2.0 -> glue fixed it
Almost broke a whole wing in PG W.Zero Custom -> Ever with glue you can see the scar.. I'll see if I can fix that by filling it up or something.
Broke a pin in another wing of PG W.Zero Custom -> Doesn't influence stability and you don't see it, so no big deal.
It looks like I'm better at wrecking kits then building them...
Have you guys ever had building disasters?
darkshadow
Sat, 08-18-2007, 04:11 PM
i only broke the arm connection on my zeta 2.0, but it wasn't even during building, i had it posed so damn long, that when i tried to move the arm, it didnt want to :P, it just broke after i forced it a bit, then i used some crazy glue and its back on again.
Oh and i broke the stand of my strike freedom abit, although its no big deal at all.

Fri, 09-07-2007, 02:21 PM
All my kits are built now, and Strike Freedom Full Burst is so cool it's insane! I did manage to kill the standard.. luckily not the one with the dragoons, but the normal one. I don't know how I can fix it, but I'll try to make it healthy again.
I'm wondering about something:
The PG Strike has a feature that I can't place in the anime: The Full Hatch Open.
It looks really cool and all, but I kinda miss the function. When I look at it only one thing comes to mind: Hyper mode.
I want to paint the Strike Freedom FBM with the same shiny gold parts as the hands etc, but I can't find the color that matches it the best. HLJ doesn't list any of the gold paint, only markers. Anyone have an idea?
Btw: I really hope that the other weapon packs will be released for PG Strike.. Both the kit itself and the Skygrasper are designed to mount them. It would be a waste not to use it.
ps. I found this on HLJ: http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN948215
This looks really cool. Does anyone have one of these?
vejita613

Yes, I have a few action bases. Theyre pretty much the same things that you get with strike freedom FBM. Theyre actually pretty handy to have. Ive used them for various models such as 1/100 Saviour and 1/100 Wing Zero. I plan to get more of them so that all my models will have a stand of some sort.

These official stands from Bandai are great. They are of good material, and balance well. More over, they're also much cheaper than those 3rd party stands which use metal pieces. I believe there are 1/100 versions too, so do keep a look out.
Harima Kenji
Fri, 09-21-2007, 02:08 PM
The 'Action Base 1' is for 1/144, 1/100 (incl. MG).. but I couldn't see it in the description of the 'Action base 2'.
The Action Base Char Version is also very cool if you have a MS piloted by Char.
Something totally different:
Do any of you guys make custom parts for your Models?
I have again broken one of the 'V' things of MG Zeta V2.0. The material is really fragile, so I'm thinking of making one myself. I also want to make custom twin beam-saber holds for the MGs of Freedom and Strike Freedom FBM, since I think that the joined holds are way too long.
I'm wondering just how hard that is..
Edit: Does anyone have any experience with ordering spare parts?
I killed an important part of the foot of Zeta v2.0 and repair is nearly impossible..

Nope. Actually i bought both, but what I mean is FBM was "discontinued" after a few weeks of being on the shelf but it was eventually restocked. So youll get your EBM destiny, it just may take some time.

I see.. Guess I'll just have to be patient :p
How long do those Gundam markers work btw? I have mine about 6 months now, not used thát much, but it's run dry already. Is this normal? Or is there a way to spark it back to life?
I finally started working on painting my 1/144 Tallgeese as a guinea pig for my painting skillz. (I'd hate myself if I'd screw up a MG/PG so I took a cheap 1/144 model to play with and get used to painting)
The waist+legs+shield look sweet now, but I was just planning to start lining today :(
Guess I'll go paint the upper part now.
I'll post some pictures when I'm done with the whole kit.
And HLJ is down because of the moving of the server to the new warehouse.
btw: Is anyone able to play the movie that they have on the temp site? IE doesn't load it, and Firefox needs a plugin, but it doesn't know which one..

I have a bit of a weird question:
Does anyone of you have an upainted 1/144 Tallgeese? Preferably without the stickers.
My painted one is nearly finished, but I forgot to take a picture of it before I started, so I don't have a clear idea just hów much better it has become.
I want to make a website with pictures of the kits before and after painting.

Took some pics of my models and figures collection. Too bad Gundams only occupy 2 levels. :D

Psyke, do you seriously have a model of every Super Sentai Red Character? If you do, then you are clearly a bigger sentai dork than me and I bow down to you greatness.
Edit: I think your missing Gekired in there.
BTW, love the Garo Figures there. Winged Garo is insanly badass

Well, I wasn't much of a serious Sentai fan until recently, partly due to Gekirangers. And yeah, I have the first 30 Red rangers, except for Geki Red as you have pointed out. But I didn't buy them separately. They came together in a complete package to celebrate last year's 30th anniversary. Good to see a Sentai fan here though!

And just to keep this post from getting out of point, 1/60 Gundam Exia has just been released in Japan.

Too bad there's no anime reference to paint on your own battle damage. The Gundams of 00 haven't had any competition thus far.

Heh, Gekiranger is a great Sentai. I havent seen one that good in quite some time. And Im not surprised so much about that collectors set. Bokenger was the 30th anniversary, so they were bound to release something like that.
As for Exia, unless they come out with another model for Setsuna to pilot, which judging by the last 6 Gundam series probly will happen, that will probly be the last model they release for it.

Yup, Gekiranger turned me into a sentai figure collector, and hence I started collecting their figures too. I wasn't too fond of the previous few series though, and couldn't finish Boukenger.
Here's my Geki collection (along with some Kamen Rider Den-O figures):

Yea, Boukenger wasnt as good as alot of the previous sentai. The story was lacking so much, it was hard to finish. Some of the previous sentais were great thou. Dairanger, Hurricaneger, Dekaranger, and Kakuranger are among my favs.

Jumbo Grade? holy crap:

and MG unicorn, first MG to feature "Revoltech joints", supposedly a great improvement for extreme posing:

The Jumbo Grade is like 1/30 scale, right?
I wonder what the level of detail is. About HG or more like PG.
Too bad they aren't model kits.. just models :)
MG Destiny EBM shipped yesterday :)

Sorry to disappoint you dark, but MG Unicorn's articulation of the knee joint is very hampered. But I guess the level of detail and the transformation makes up for the flaws.

I didnt say articulation, i said extreme posing, holding a certain pose for a long time without wear or holding objects that would normally be too heavy, also i just made a note about the type of joints, not the unicorn itself, that is most likely a design choise.

The next thing they should improve is the hands. The grip of HG in particular is horrible. Getting them to hold a gun or staff can be a pain. Even with MG kits I have that problem.

But with models of those scales, isn't it usually the case that the fingers joints work in tandem with unit-specific inserts in both hands and equipment to provide "grip?"
As far as that goes, I, at least, don't see any problem with them; unless you are suggesting that HGs and MGs be equipped with fully-functional fingers.

Not really.. the HG models I have from Gundam Wing simply cannot hold their weapons. Deathscythe (and Hell Custom) can't hold his scythe properly, Shenlong and Nataku can't hold their weapons either. The HG Aegis from Seed has pre-shaped hands, so that doesn't really count.
For the MGs the same thing applies. They do have attachment points for the guns and beamsabers, but especially the guns are mostly too heavy to really stay in their place. I found this with Strike Freedom FBM to be especially true. The guns let go really soon, and it's almost impossible to make him hold his gun when it's combined.
It could be that I need more patience or I'm doing something wrong, but this is my experience.
Individual fingers like the PGs would be great, although I think they'll snap easily.
But I'm happy that Bandai did something to the joints of the kits. The elbow joints of the HG Wing ones are so bad that it is saddening.

All right, I've just finished up the MG FAZZ (sans hypah mega lazer), and I think I'm inclined to have to agree with you, now. Despite the fact that posing the arms on that thing is a pain, it cannot seem to support the weight of the double laser cannon past a certain height when held by hand (attached to the arm, it's fine).

After a long time I finally found the time to finish painting my 1/144 Tallgeese.
Here are some pictures:

back:

Gun: (on the right you can see the customised closed up shield.)

Guntip: (I made the tip open again, like it is supposed to be.)
http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb304/Foo-young-hi/TallgeeseGuntip-Small.jpg
Customised parts: (I closed up the openings from the hip armor and the back skirt, so it looks more solid.)

Constructive criticism is welcome.
Be gentle, since it is my first painted plamo :p
I'm not too happy with my marker-skills, but from a little distance you don't see any flaws at all.

Good first attempt. I prefer my paint matte rather than glossy, but I guess it's a matter of preference. I'm not sure if it would help, but here's the guide (http://ultranosekai.50webs.com/gundamguide.htm) I wrote a long time back, for people begining to paint their Gundams.
