Unfortunatley Bandai have'nt released any MG from GSD. This one is made a very talented modeler/collector by using parts of 1/100 Destiny and internal parts from MG Freedom. And look at the detail of the palms, the guy who made this is really amazing

Ah im back to give my report on the Ver 2.0 zeta gundam first off they addressed all they problems with the legs they now have 2 locking clamps rather than that one crappy clip. The arms are more defined and not as scrawny like the first version and the new arms are able to support the weight of the hypermegalauncher where as the original could barely hold it let alone support it and the hands much like the new 2.0 Mark II's (acutally identical) have little pegs to lock the handles of the weapons into the hands for a rather tight grip. The wing binders no longer just sag to the sides and sit lopsided they are now firmly attached and sit properly. Transformation has also been improved it doesnt fall apart in your hand like the first zeta all the parts stay in place firmly and most lock into place.The stand is very nice it can connect to the 2.0 Mark II's stand to create the launch secuence from the anime and zeta firmly well rather strongly attaches to the display stand. And finaly its poseiblity is deffinltly a plus from its first version it can grip its weapons in any pose and it can even hold its hypermegalauncher with one hand so i thought that ws impressive seeing how the gun itself is bigger then the model.

In all its deffenitly worth getting i highly recomend it.

Thanks for the review Meehlimo. One of the biggest complaints I had of the previous version was the clip which actually held both the thighs together. It was a pain trying to transform Zeta to its Wave Rider form and back. Howis the stand? It looks a lot like the one Strike was using. I hope it can support the wave rider without having to scratch any of the painted parts.

The stand it nice but its not like strikes altho it is in length you cant lower the height of the model the bar that keep the model off the ground is fixed it folds down but it fixed in one place when up. Zetas stand is locked in at one position but its high enough for any pose you might wanna try.Also as i stated b4 zetas and the mark II's stand can be connected to create the argama hanger and launch scene from the anime

holy god man, those are hella sweet! you must have every single gundam seed and seed destiny high grade models, i especially like how you painted infinite justice's beam sword stuff. i got a question though, did you paint any parts of your strike freedom and legend gundams? if you did then can you show me the picture of both of them unpainted that's on the box of the gundams? thanks for sharing your gundams to us and props to your awesome collection

yea i did paint Strike freedom did alot of work on it and the gold paint i used looks like crap in these pics it looks copperish when its like brass on my models anyway i can basily tell u what i painted the v wing the 2 beam rifles were compltely light grey the end of the rail guns the red part the back end of it the black parts the forarm monted energy sheild tip the black part everything u see gold i painted and the lil red thrusters on the back of the wings that are red i also painted in all the gundam itself doesnt need to much painting its its weapons that really do the lil black bands on the saber the rifles and the rail guns all need painting.

ah forgot legend about him yea the entire beam launcher is that flat grey that the suit itself it the dragoons all need painting ton the for the lil beam barrels for it to look half decent up the lil white vents on the legs the lil red thrusters on teh front skirt armor and inside al the boosters on the model i painted red as to the anime its sabers blades come in color thankfully also the head has that lil blue part tha u have to paint a bit on the side of the head
that and the like coller u se there thats grey that also had to be painted on strike freedom.

but if u want any advice always do ur panel lines on the HG 1/144's well all sizes it makes them come out so much better.

and by the way thats ONLY my seed collection most of my destiny ones are littered around the room but those pics do no justice to my massive UC and partly big AC collection

I see you have a lot of 1/144 figures. I myself don't have any, due to the fact I'm a lazy person and those 1/144 kits require so much masking and painting. I like your panel lines as they are really well done. You may want to start trying air brushing for additional effects. I can scan up some tutorials from a couple of books, but they are in japanese though....

My entire set of the compressor and the air brush cost me $500 Singapore dollars (around $310 USD). It's a rather high end set with dual water traps and a good quality brush with a fine nozzle. I haven't got around finding the magazines yet though i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

It makes a huge difference! The coat of paint takes away to original gloss/shine of the plastic, and makes the model feels more metallic.

Nah, I already had the 1/100 Freedom which was released a long time ago. It's not great and I've been contemplating on getting the MG version, but there are so many other kits I wanted so I thought I'd spend my money on those instead. i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

Im not a freedom fan boy or anything but the MG kit is worth the money its made extremely well has to be one of the best MG i have and i have ALOT just about every gundam type MG and many others but make a long story short i had the HG 1/100 and i gave it away to a friend cuz the MG is made so much better and the plasma cannon now can fold forward and the size of the wings have been corrected just get the orginal version the chromed one isnt worth it cuz well its not a silver gundam its suposed to be white.....well that and the fact that its 40$ more. If you want i can take angled pics for u of areas so u can seethe major differnces between them and its rediulous posibility.

I saw the lightning edition at this anime shop its pretty big.. They have a green Zaku i think with Athrun on the front and Sword Impulse.. Wich would probably be good to get next?..

you should get the strike freedom lightning edition or sword impulse, don't get the zaku, the only thing good about it is that it can switch from warrior zaku to gunner zaku and it comes with an athrun and dearka cards(those clear things that come with seed destiny 1/100's), i wouldn't even waste my money on that even though it has an athrun card(which is saying alot from me)

All the Zaku's with only 1 shield are called Zaku Warriors in GSD. You meant it can switch between Blaze Zaku Warrior and Gunner Zaku Warrior.

They are closer to the Gundam Wing (original) white rather then the Wing Custom white.

I know this is a double post, but it has been 2 days and this will update the forum page with a new date for the latest post.

I was just looking at HLJ, 2 new HG 1/144's have been listed. Murasame Production Model, and Owashi Akatsuki. Looks like they noticed us complaining about the previous model only have 1 of Akatsuki's packs.

On a similar note, does anyone know about when (or if) there will be more 1/100 models or better? HLJ has listed an extra finish version of Force Impulse with Sword Sillouette, but that doesn't count.

EDIT: Okay, I looked more carefully, it says restock on the Extra Finish Impulse, but it has an "Early Bird" special for pre-orders, that threw me off.

I've started enjoying the 1/144 more then I used too, but I definitely prefer 1/100. While the quality was pretty bad, I really enjoyed painting my 1/144 HG Legend Gundam.

The posability on the destiny is awesome, though the strike freedom doesnt have as much.
I think the destiny was great for my first Gundam Model.

Nope, it's just a master grade. I used to own the 1/100 HG, and this MG totally thrashes the old HG one with much more detailed parts and more secured wings. A must get for Wing Zero fans who are not rich enough to get the PG one (like me).

The PGs need to be in 1/60 due to the insane amount of details in them. If they were smaller and had the same level of detail you'd need a pair of tweezers and a magnifying glass to do them i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

A recent MG Gunpla ad by Bandai has a silhouette of F91 with "now planning!?" on it. The ad featured other MG Gundam kits (like Gundam ver1.5, Ez8, Alex, GP03S, Zeta ver2.0, ZZ, Nu) which are included in the upcoming Climax UC game.

(although I'm still new with the model painting thing, so I'm learning how to do it by trial and error)

I'm really having trouble with the lines on the armor. (how do you call those things?) I can't find a good way to get the nice black lines with my brush(now matter how small the brush is).. I tried masking, but it won't look as good as I want it to.. how do you guys paint those lines?

That picture of the infinite justice kit that meehlimo posted was just a picture of the prototype, of course the kit's going to have color.
About those panel lines on the kit, I use a fine point gundam marker, it is very convenient and is way better than using a brush, it is also pretty cheap for one, you can buy one here, http://gundamstoreandmore.com/gunmargunbla.html, this was where I got mines and is the same one I have.

EDIT: By the way, you should post some pictures of your model kits, Meehlimo might be able to give you some advice or comments on your kits since he paints his too.

Yea I can give you some advice if you need it but, if your gonna airbrush your kits you should ask psyke thats his department.That and I can tell you how much painting some kits need I have 190 plus gundam models if you can believe it.... (not trying to brag im just obsessed)

Taking a close look at that strike freedom i think its a scrach built model using parts from other MG kits but believe me when i say i want to be wrong i want a MG Strike freedom VERY BAD.

On a side note that model is badass either way i would buy it given the chance.Nice find Providence.

now, i've considered getting one of those ever-so-snazzy looking 1/144 Akatsuki models, since i'd been hoping for quite some time that they'd release one, but i've got a question for anyone who's built one thus far.

with that metallic finish on the gold part (which looks wicked, btw), is there a problem with nubs when removing parts from the tree? like, if you leave a nub, then try to sand it, it would ruin the finish... how do they attach it to the tree to prevent that, or do you have to go forward relying solely on your skills with an exacto knife to prevent the nubs?

other than that concern, that has got to be the sweetest looking kit i've seen released for a gundam series...

I have it its first off an amazing kit probably one of my fav hg 1/144's and the nubs and tree parts there really are no problems there is a few paint related ones tho, one is the gundam fine pint black tip markers dont write in the pannel lines i had to buy a ultra fine tip 0.5 modeling maker for the panel lines. That and any gundam paint markers make sure u put ur paint on right cuz if u screw up it takes the brass finish off clean.Other than those lil problems the kit iself is very simple to build and incorperats a new shoulder joint design makes the arms very mobile. Drop me an im if u have any questions on the model itself.

P.S if you are curious about any other models i probably have them just ask ill give you the low down.

To be fair, Dual is supposed to be a Melee suit. Minimal ranged weapons should be expected. I will save judgement on the new Dual until I've seen it's Melee load-out.

My Gundam marker arrived today in a big box that said "Handle with extreme care, Fragile!" :D
Before I go and use my new toy: Is there any way of removing it when you've made a mistake?

There are 2 types of Gundam Markers, one is oil based and the other is water based. I can't remember which one I'm using currently, but I can rub off the excess paint with tissue paper or a eraser pretty easily. The other type, however is more permanant and have to be removed using thinner.

Best thing is to use some spare plastic from the kit (the pieces holding the parts will do just fine), and try your marker on them first before you head straight for the important parts, such as the face and head.

My Gundam marker arrived today in a big box that said "Handle with extreme care, Fragile!" :D
Before I go and use my new toy: Is there any way of removing it when you've made a mistake?

I bought it from HLJ, but the pen looks the same.
I tested it on some parts a was gonna repaint, and I could rub it off fairly easy.
Any tips on how to make nice straight lines? Sometimes the grooves are too shallow(or my painting is too thick :p), so the pen slips out easily.

Master grade Gyan is coming out in May, the sword lights up which seems pretty cool but it didn't get much screen time in the anime.

nice find im not a big fan of the gyan tho always kinda hated it for its weird fighting style in the games its got some cool gimicks tho, the sword is a nice start they should do that to future MG kits

I'm not sure, since the pen itself doesn't say, but I think it was 0.7mm

Does anyone have the 1/1700EX Minerva kit? It looks really awesome. Even though I'm not a great fan of the ship in the series, I'm still thinking about buying this kit simply because he looks so sweet :)

i dont have it personaly but its very small its small next to a 1/100 and about the same height of a 1/144. Iv seen pictures of other peoples

Great news:

I just read from a magazine, that the anime grade versions of Infinite Justice and Legend are going to be released in May and June respectively. Both kits will come with an exclusive stand with the 1st issue editions. Late, but better than never. :)

Yup I referred to the 1/100s, but I read some where they're called anime grades because they're not High Grades nor Master Grades. :)

So what exactly are they then inbetween better worse?

They're more detailed than the HG 144s because they are bigger and feature more articulation, but however they're not as detailed as normal HG 100s. But on the whole they're still quite good unless of course you compare them to their MG counterparts, such as Freedom and Strike.

So the only difference between the 'no grades' and the HG is the detailing? I thought I read in the first couple of pages of this topic that with some of the models the proportions aren't right or something like that.

I saw pictures of the 1/144 Strike Noir on HLJ, and I must say that even the 1/144 looks really cool.. I can't wait for the 1/100 and maybe even the MG version..

I have another painting question:
On gundamofficial there are color translations for some of the kits (even though it looks like they don't want you to find them :p). For some of the parts you need to mix 'madder red' with something else. My problem is that I can't find what paint nr (revell, humbrol or Tamiya) Madder red is. Is that already a mixed color or does it actually have a number?
The models I'm currently painting are the 1/100 HG versions of Wing and Wing Zero, but I assume that all kits require the same color-mixes.

I really have to start painting and building more. I currently have about 10 kits that I still have to build/paint..

The major difference between the No grades and High grades are that the no grades have like the poorest flexability the arms and legs dont bend at the knee and elbow joints. And yes the detailing on the HG's are much better and are decently flexable. A fine example of the newest HG 1/144 frame is the HG 1/144 hazel gundam it has the best elbow joints i have seen on any HG 1/144 i really wish they did that to all of the HG 1/144's and its knee jonts are very stable and dont go loose after bending them constently.
