Probably a stupid question for the most of you

Hi, I'm just recently a fan of Anime and manga, bud I don't really now the difference could someone explain it to me

Anime is short for animation, so it kinda obvious there. Manga means "whimsical pictures" in Japanese and I'm told that it can actually refer to both. In the english speaking world, Manga definitely means the hand drawn "comic" books.
